DonorScape Review

DonorScape is being used in the Prospect Research Department in the Office of Institutional Advancement at Drexel University for wealth screenings. This valuable tool has provided us with the capability to uncover highly-rated prospects who were previously unknown to us who made donations to the University.
  • Provides a user-friendly interface.
  • Provides a portal for past and current screenings.
  • Provides the ability to easily change ratings.
  • Provides detailed wealth data.
  • Ability to download large screenings easily.
  • Ability to interface with our CRM.
DonorScape is well suited for wealth screenings when biographical information is in good form.
  • Helped uncover new prospects.
  • Large screenings are expensive.
DonorScape appears to produce fewer false positives and format is user friendly.
Sometimes the customer support is not as responsive as other vendors we use.

Our organization uses DonorScape to research prospective donors. It is being used by one department, Development Operations. It solves the question of whether or not prospective donors have the capacity or have the affinity to support our hospitals. It also provides us other philanthropic history as well as current and past board service history. DonorScape is a wonderful product!
  • Capacity rating
  • Philanthropic history
  • Board history
  • Career history
  • Real estate holdings
  • It needs to produce net worth calculations.
  • It would be nice if it showed possible connections to other business associates.
  • I recommend adding stock holdings.
DonorScape is well suited for fundraising, specifically those in prospect research and management. This tool saves time and is great for digging into the background of folks.
  • DonorScape has helped us positively identify prospects who have turned into donors.
  • DonorScape has helped us make business decisions on hiring based on the number of prospects we have identified.
iWave is very similar to DonorScape for researching wealth capacity and donor affinity. They are both different from each other and can provide different data points. iWave provides SEC filings and different capacity ratings. I prefer DonorScape when looking at the capacity of a prospect, but iWave will give a Net Worth and DonorScape doesn't.
DonorScape support has improved over the last few years. They are generally on point, but I have had my fair share of issues that have resulted in disrupted business processes. As of now, they are doing a fine job.
