We use Dropbox to share files between our people on the field and our people in the offices, we share mainly signed docs and images from our clients and providers to our people outside the office, with the main reason for using Dropbox being that the mobile app is excellent to make it easier to work the way we do
  • Sharing files between different areas
  • Ability to have different people accesing the same files
  • Plenty of space for files
  • Ease to increase the space
  • Mobile app is not very good but it has been getting better the last few versions
  • No integration with our tech support apps
  • Difficult to implement with different teams
Since we are using it to share files between people in the field, visiting clients and showing them our documents, we manage to be efficient with the sharing and usage of files and documents, getting them signed and having the option of printing them out at our client's offices is always a plus
  • Ease to use by different people all over the map
  • File version control and management
  • Price is a good compromise between features and expenses

  • We use it all the time to share files so it has had a very positive impact on our business
  • Without Dropbox or something like it, we would have to transfer all of our documents to our people's computers and then have to sync them once they're back
  • The only negative impact is that we cannot sync it with our costumer support's apps
Google Drive is the other one we use, and Dropbox has some things that it does better (file sharing and sending files to the users), but Drive integrates into our Google ecosystem better, so internally we use Drive but for our users that are working with our clients at their offices we use Dropbox

Dropbox is used in our organization to upload and share files. We had issues in sharing large sized files with staff who are abroad and we had to use several servers and store data where we faced limitation of space and here come Dropbox which helped us save time and cost.
  • Very easy to use and upload files.
  • Uploading and downloading takes no time. Its a cloud concept and it saves a lot of time.
  • It does not require a lot of training and every person in organization can share their files with a click.
  • Synchronizing could be an issue at limited times. This should be worked on.
  • The website might go down. Happened two times which delayed downloading of files. This can be improved.
  • Login issues. Sometimes you need to try a couple of times to be able to login therefore there is room for improvement here.
I noticed that uploading is faster with Dropbox than other platforms using the same internet connection that we have for the company, we get less complains from our staff as well when using Dropbox. It is more user friendly than other applications.

Dropbox support is great and they have a good support system where you get your answers at no time.
  • Being a cloud platform.
  • It cuts cost as you can create a free account at the beginning.
  • Training on Dropbox takes only few minutes.
  • It saves a lot of space on our servers.

  • Cost of storage on our servers and buying extra storage devices. This for sure has saved a lot of cost.
  • Time spent on cleaning our servers where Dropbox can perform this faster and in a better way.
Dropbox customer support and availability worldwide is better, it is more compatible with other programs and browsers and it rarely stops working.

There is plenty of space on Dropbox that you can use from Dropbox and it takes lesser steps to upload or download or even to share files with others.

Technical skills in computer as they support other staff on what to upload and how and type of files, etc.
  • Uploading training material.
  • Uploading and downloading certifications.
  • Sharing files with participants.
  • Sharing files without a limitation of time after working hours with staff who are very far away.
  • We used to use our servers for storage but now we have Dropbox that saved a lot of time and cost.
  • Sharing financial documents with outside entities.
  • We could use it in tendering processes.
  • A sort of long time storage.
It is a good way to store information and Dropbox has made it very simple. The support staff are really great. You can easily find answers to your questions everywhere on the internet when you ask about Dropbox.

Dropbox can provide a solution to these challenges by offering a cloud-based file storage and sharing platform that enables easy collaboration between team members. I can use Dropbox to store all of their design files securely in the cloud, accessible from any device with an internet connection. This means that team members can access the latest version of the design files from anywhere at any time, streamlining collaboration and reducing the risk of errors due to outdated or conflicting files. Additionally, Dropbox offers features such as file sharing, commenting, and version control, which make it easy for architects to collaborate with clients, contractors, and other team members on a project. For example, I can share files with clients for review and feedback, and team members can leave comments directly on design files to discuss changes or provide suggestions.
  • Large File Sharing: I often work with large design files, and Dropbox's file sharing capabilities make it easy to share these large files with team members and clients. Dropbox allows architects to share files of up to 50GB in size, making it easier to collaborate on large design projects.
  • Security: Dropbox provides a secure platform for us to store and share our design files. Dropbox also offers two-factor authentication, password protection, and remote wipe capabilities to protect sensitive design files from unauthorized access.
  • Integration: Dropbox integrates with a variety of other software applications commonly used by architects, including AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit. This makes it easy for architects to save and share design files directly from within these applications.
  • Version Control: Dropbox's version control capabilities allow me to keep track of changes made to our design files over time. I can revert to earlier versions of a file if necessary, and track changes made by different team members.
  • Search Functionality: Dropbox's search functionality can sometimes be limited, making it difficult to find specific files or folders.
  • File Recovery: Dropbox offers a version control feature, which allows users to restore previous versions of files. The process for restoring files can be complex and time-consuming, and there is no easy way to recover files that have been permanently deleted.
Well-Suited Scenarios: Large Design Files: Dropbox is well-suited for architects who work with large design files, such as blueprints, CAD files, and 3D models. Dropbox's large file sharing capabilities make it easy to share these files with team members and clients, while its version control features allow architects to track changes over time. Limited Customization: Dropbox may be less appropriate for me who require a high level of customization in my workflow or project management.
  • Large File Sharing: Dropbox's ability to share large files easily and securely is crucial for us who work with large design files, such as blueprints, CAD files, and 3D models.
  • Integration: Dropbox's integration with other software applications commonly used by architects, such as AutoCAD and SketchUp, can help streamline workflows and improve productivity.
  • Mobile Access: Dropbox's mobile app allows us to access our design files on-the-go, which can be particularly useful when visiting construction sites or meeting with clients.

  • Dropbox can have a positive impact on a company's overall business objectives, including:
  • Increased Efficiency: Dropbox's collaboration features can help increase team efficiency by allowing team members to work together on design projects in real-time, regardless of the location.
  • Increased Security: Dropbox's security features, including encryption and two-factor authentication, can help protect sensitive design files from unauthorized access or theft.
  • On the other hand, some potential negative impacts of Dropbox on business objectives could include:
  • Cost: While Dropbox's pricing plans are generally competitive, the cost can increase for larger teams or organizations that require a significant amount of storage space.
File sharing and collaboration: Both services offer file sharing and collaboration features, but Dropbox has more robust collaboration tools, such as real-time co-editing and commenting. Google Drive, on the other hand, offers a better user experience for those who prioritize file organization and management. Pricing: Dropbox and Google Drive offer different pricing plans, with different storage capacities and pricing tiers. Generally, Dropbox is considered to be a more affordable option, with more storage space for less money.

Dropbox - the Hollywood Video of cloud storage. I have clients I work with who use Dropbox. On occasion, I am forced to use this outdated bit of, in my opinion, garbage. Once again, in my opinion, I will be trying to convince yet another client to use something other than this slow, archaic product run by people who don't care about their clients.

  • Speed of download and uploads
In my experience, upload speeds are horrible - download speeds are terrible and it eats up massive storage on your computer.
  • Can't think of a thing
  • Still nothing
  • Oh - here we go... If they did a total overhaul of their entire program, they might be good.
