Centricity was limited in ability to scale and customize compared to Cadence for our environment. Also the regular updates for Cadence vs. Centricity is where Cadence really shines. Vendor support is also much better with Cadence over Centricity. We also like the robust capability of the reporting module in Cadence over other vendors.

I personally did not select the application, the organization have. Most of the time, I find out that healthcare facilities who have been using many of Epic's application invites or gets a request to be visited by other healthcare organizations thinking of getting the EMR system of Epic. I believe volume speaks for themselves, there is no other one EMR application that is able to adapt with other EMR systems, reason why many big and famous healthcare organization like, NYU, Kaiser Permanente, Cleveland Clinics to name a few is using Epic.

Our old legacy system was another vendor system interfaced to the current AD system. If was strictly a scheduling system, it did not pass information other than an account number to the ADT system for registration purposes so was very limited in what it could do beyond scheduled. It was a very easy system to work with (IT wise and user wise) due to it simplicity.

Once thing that this system had over Cadence was its ability to develop questionnaires (multiple) based on visit type, patient type, class of visit etc. it could build 1 or many and attach it to the department,

Cadence is much better than some of the other either text based, or web based solutions out there. Cadence should be used as part of the complete Epic Enterprise package to enjoy the cost benefits of a fully integrated system that maintains the entire Patient Access flow within one system.

I have had experiance with allscripts in the past and I feel like Cadance is more advanceed and more accurate with capturing patient information and communicating the information back to Epic and our care teams. Cadance has helped us cutomize our Epic system so that we can tack everything that is done during a patients visit.
