Evernote is a big digital journal. It's similar to Microsoft OneNote and Notion in some regards, in that it allows you to categorize journal entries, keep lists and checklists, organize research, paste images, and organize topics of thought. It prevents busy executives and all kinds of people from having to lug lots of notebooks around. This is only used in a management capacity to keep and organize plans and notes on topics and business plans.
  • Journal organization - Evernote allows you to organize your topics and thoughts into digital notebooks.
  • Integrations - Evernote works with Google Chrome and can help you search, clip, and paste things into your journals.
  • Organization - Items are organized by notebook and journal entry, but sometimes it can still feel a little disorienting when searching for items.
  • Image clippings - For some odd reason, this functionality does not work for the team members that use it.
Evernote would be one of my top 3 note-keeping software tools to recommend for keeping journal entries, brainstorming, developing lists, and developing plans across time. There's a mobile app so that you can access and take notes wherever you go. You can search and keep images and text, as well as upload files and other features. For busy admins, execs, and moms, this is a great digital notebook to keep tabs on work and life in one centralized place.

Evernote is not a great software tool to use if you need:
  • Multi-user functionality - Individual user management to specific items or pages (a virtual project management software solution would be better for that).
  • A more clear hierarchical structure of your documents and notes.
  • If you need to separate records and keep them accessible and linked to other aspects of the project (ex: This isn't individual documents, like google docs).
  • If you are a "paper person" and are extremely visually organized (in which case, we'd advise you use a moleskin notebook).
  • Spreadsheets - like for a lot of side by side data analysis (ex: This isn't google sheets).
  • Positive: This has allowed us to keep tabs on account histories, plans, and lists together in one place. That helps save time and increasing efficiency.
  • Positive: Evernote has allowed us to store a lot of different types of media together to create one brainstorming board for future projects. This helps create new ideas for revenue.
We migrated to Evernote whenever our office started using macs. The user functionality was roughly the same - and we found it easy to understand and use.

We use Notion.so more frequently now - this allows our office to have an internal hub, a place for journal entries/lists/ and media. It's more visually driven and organized (for creatives that have a visual memory), and the search function is easier to use. Overall, as a team, we're getting more functionality out of Notion.so, but we still appreciate Evernote for its usage as well.
Evernote is a great virtual journal -
  • It's accessible on multiple devices.
  • It works across multiple platforms (Microsoft and Mac driven applications).
  • It's cloud-based.
  • It allows you to create notebooks, spreadsheets, and other media and link them together.
  • I like that it's a mix of many different things together in one - and eliminates the need to have many physical journals with you at all times.
For the right individual, this is a useful tech tool to consider in upping your productivity and organization.
  • To integrating multiple items in one place - drawings, images, lists, spreadsheets, text, media files in-line in one document to allow for visual brainstorming.
  • Organizing thoughts and journal entries by topic.
  • From time to time we've lost files or notes that we were looking for.
  • The Image clipper - For some odd reason, this feature doesn't work for us.
Yes
The mobile interface allows you the functionality of the desktop version. You can upload images, create new journal entries, create spreadsheet-like, feature and record notes. It's the same - just on a smaller screen. The interface has worked well for us - and the mobile version of the program is one of the reasons why we instituted use in the first place.
  • Basic visual organization - ability to create a notebook and store user notes inside of it.
  • Basic easy navigation - You can quickly move in and out of files and notes.
  • User intuitive addition - whatever you need to add to your document, it's relatively easy to understand and use.
  • We find overall that we still want some functionality in creating better task lists, boards, and other things that we find in Notion - which is the tool that we use as a team notebook/storage space.

We use Evernote to organize market intelligence and trends in our industry. One of my colleagues and I both read news articles and come across other sources. We use the web clipper and the Outlook plugin. Once a day I then create an email to the rest of the staff that includes a link to any saved articles. This is how we all stay informed and able to speak intelligently to clients about the state of the legal market.
  • Tag articles with multiple keywords
  • Save internet articles and remove ads and items in sidebars
  • Save emails
  • Search full text
  • We sometimes have problems with the sync taking too long. Most of the time when you save an article it comes up in Evernote right away, but other times it takes 5-10 minutes.
  • The ability to email an article could be improved. It puts it into the body of the email, but I would prefer it as a pdf attachment
  • We send a "table of contents" note once a day which gives a list of selected articles. It just gives the title of the item, and a link to open it in Evernote. It's sufficient, but it would be nice if it gave a preview of the first few sentences.
It has a lot of flexibility. I could see it being useful in lots of scenarios. From personal use to professional.
  • It is very time saving for us.
  • The ability to access from a mobile device is helpful when out of the office
  • Clients seem impressed when we can bring up relevant information quickly, and from the office or a mobile device when at an off-site meeting.
We used Zotero for a while. It's similar but we found it to be less user-friendly and sometimes buggy. The syncing time was also much slower, which was an issue with multiple users.

We started using the system right away for new information. Getting the older stuff in, so that everything is in one place, has been time consuming. Evernote makes the process as painless as possible, but we have 25 years worth of stuff!
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
Some of our older employees weren't happy about the change, but not that they have been using it for a while, everyone is on board.
  • How to get older information into the system quickly
  • How to make sure that we did not create multiple similar tags
Make sure you think about your tags. If you end up with multiple similar tags then things aren't grouped together as you might prefer. For instance if you have a tag called Disney and Walt Disney, this will split up your articles. Evernote makes it simple to correct, but I suggest you make sure your users look closely at the existing tags before creating new ones.

I have been using Evernote's PC and Android applications 6 or more years. I have tremendous experience with Evernote's useful and productive features. The Googles Chrome extension is very useful for grabbing webpage notes and saving to Evernote. Tagging notes is another useful feature of Evernote, it's very simple to search in your hundreds of notes when you want a particular one. Sharing notes with your friends, family or colleagues is very simple in Evernote. Evernote provides web access to all your notes. If you want to share any with others, simply create a share link then mail it or share on social media if they not using Evernote. Attach audio, video or images with your Evernote identity and give productive information to your notes. Real time Evernote synchronization with all devices is very useful to access all your notes anywhere, anytime. I am using Evernote for my real estate marketing tactics, creating property notes with Evernote and easily sharing with my clients. Evernote is very helpful to me all time. Evernote's Android app is very simple and easy to use. Evernote added a chat feature recently which you can use to communicate in realtime with other Evernote collaborators. Evernote is best at any time for all kind of users.
  • Making quick and simple notes on any platform.

  • Evernote's direct customer support Is really effective and quick for all kinds of users.
  • Finest notes collaboration ever made. Evernote is a fast and reliable productivity application online or offline.
  • Comparatively, Evernote provides very low cloud space to their basic users.
  • Evernote's mobile apps are not equipped with real-time location sharing or store location notes.
  • No integrated video sharing and embedded video sharing with platforms.
There are no major negatives to Evernote's services. They give lot of useful features to all of their users [without] any ad revenue. Evernote is an internet icon that is a major content storage platform both online and offline. Evernote's strength is its stability, powerful note creation and collaboration tools. It's one of best business tools helping and organizing your content online or offline.
Evernote is better than is other powerful corporate competitors like Microsoft or Google. Microsoft's OneNote is the best competitor for Evernote with better online or offline note saving after its release of the tremendous Windows 10. But Evernote is still dominating its position clearly, with its powerful creation tools technology. Google Keep is another major competitor for Evernote, but it is too far behind Evernote.

Evernote is being used by individuals in our sales department. Some content is shared. Most is private to each user. Evernote is terrific at syncing meeting notes, project notes, literature, etc. across multiple devices and team members. Content is very easily edited/updated. The ability to organize notes into different notebooks and assign different tags to each note make notes extremely easy to find.
  • Sync notes across multiple platforms making them available to users at all times.
  • Organizing notes into different notebooks and further enabling you to tag notes for effortless searching.
  • Ability to make instant updates on all devices.
  • Ability to embed photos, pdfs and web site URLs directly into notes.
  • Difficult to move content within a note (ie re-arrange bullet points, etc.). Ideally bulleted and numbered lists could be re-arranged with drag and drop functionality. This is especially difficult to do currently on smartphones and tablets (much easier with a mouse).
  • Desktop client seems to need to be synced manually (or automatic syncs are much less frequent than mobile app syncs).
  • I like the web site "Clipper" utility but it doesn't always provide the desired result. It would be nice if it had an option to capture a screen shot of an area of a web page.
Security is a concern. I do not put content into Evernote that is private/confidential as I am unaware of the security methods employed. Ideally, notebooks could be encrypted in storage and require a password or token when opening them.
The ability to share with team members is awesome. But do any capabilities exist to remove notes from a user's account if that individual is removed from a team?
  • Increased employee efficiency. Provides ability to reference meeting notes from prior meetings or even different meetings that relate to one your are in.
  • Access to resources. Ability to instantly find the latest content. Update it continuously as needed. And have it available at your fingertips wherever you are.
  • Customer service. Having the resources available to answer questions accurately, etc. Take notes of client meetings and create action items that are then available on your desk when you return from the client's office.
  • OneNote,onenote
I find Evernote easier and more intuitive to use. It's free up to a point - but you can use it very effectively at no cost. Smaller installation - OneNote seems very large. Apps available on all devices. This may be true for OneNote now, but it wasn't in the past.
I rely on it now. I use it every day. I have not found a better tool to do what it does. So I will continue to use it.
  • Organize notes to make them easy to find and retrieve.
  • Syncs notes across multiple devices/platforms for instant access.
  • Create new notes or modify existing ones very easily.
  • Re-organize content within a note.
Yes
Terrific. I've used Evernote on tablets and smartphones. They provide the same functionality as the desktop client. Data stays in sync across all devices.
Evernote is extremely easy and intuitive to use. Open it and start typing. Very little training is required to use even the advanced features.
