Our field guys and their supervisors clock in and out of ExakTime. Before we started using ExakTime, we would get general estimates of what each employee worked and usually overpaid because they always seemed to "round up" and there was little accountability. Now we know exactly how long each person worked! We also know whether they were on the job site or slacking off elsewhere by seeing whether they punched in and out of the geofence.
  • Geofence punches
  • Photo capture of employee at clock in/out
  • Variety of reports
  • Export to Quickbooks for payroll
  • Would be nice for ExakTime to recognize if the in/out photo captured a face instead of the sky/ceiling to prompt employee to take a valid photo
  • Interface with AccountLinx/Quickbooks sometimes varies the precise time from what ExakTime shows. Ex. Employee shows working 4.27 hours in ExakTime, Quickbooks shows 4.26. Usually only off by a hundredth
  • Sometimes punches don't sync up. Employee claims they clocked in. I manually enter then it populates later
We have recommended to at least two other colleagues. It helps to prevent dishonest time keeping. Manual timekeeping by a supervisor seems to create a lot of room for errors including forgetfulness of who showed up and when. It's nice to be able to track when each employee is working or how many people are on each worksite.

When I took over this company 5 years ago they were clocking in on an old punch card machine. This was not an efficient use of time or money for something as simple and important as tracking time worked. Switching to ExakTime has saved me thousands of dollars over the years calculating payroll. I can't put a price on the headache it has saved me!
  • Time Tracking, where and when each employee is clocking in.
  • Ease of use, even the older generation can navigate the website well.
  • I actually don't, I have never had an issue.
For my industry, ExakTime is incredible. The geo fencing, and clock-in locations and job types works incredibly well. I am likely to recommend because I have and I do recommend it constantly to others in my industry. I would say the only reason more people are not trying is it, is because they are of an older generation and using a virtual program can be daunting.

ExakTime is used in our business mainly as the app punch clock for our field crews to track times for punch items within larger scopes of work. It has been implemented into our shop tracking as well for tracking of time on individual fabrication items within the company.

The product address the lack of oversight within our field crews daily tasks and eliminates the stack of papers associated with tracking time both in the field and shop.
  • Daily Time Tracking
  • Individual tracking within larger scopes
  • time of and daily reports for management to review and address
  • Addition of PDF forms at punch in
  • rounding of hours could use improvement
ExakTime is well suited in the area of app punch clocks for use in the field. The app function eliminates the need for bulky punch clocks and scenarios where hours are cheated and misinterpreted.

ExakTime requires some work around to accommodate individual tasks within the larger grouping related to an individual project.

We use ExakTime mostly for mobile time capturing. We set up numerous cost codes and added all of our clients to streamline the payroll process. Each foreman is responsible for clocking their team members in and out, including where they are and what part of the project they are working on. This has saved us an infinite amount of hours each week tracking employee time. Also, the cost codes give us more clarity on our budget and forecasting by noting where we are spending our time on the jobsite.
  • Organize employee contact information, clients, and cost codes efficiently
  • Create a multitude of reports to analyze data for budgeting/forecasting
  • The ability to add/subtract employees online
  • It would be a nice feature if employees could add photos of their progress on jobsites
  • The GPS could be a bit more exact for tracking employees
  • The reports page online is not the most user friendly page. It seems dated.
Pro:On the jobsite, our foremen can easily switch their crew between the different tasks on a certain project, which gives the admins a real time view of employee time for cost analysis.
Con: Employees can turn off their location and tracking can be lost until they either turn the location back on or get back on a wifi signal.

We utilize ExakTime for our field employees. It's good software; however, we are experiencing issues with the GPS, and the employees cannot clock in. They must turn their GPS off, back on, and then refresh to clock in. If a feature could be integrated to send an email to the employee to say it's now time to approve your timecard for the week, etc., that would be very beneficial. We struggle to motivate the employees to review and double-check their time for the week, and corrections are made after the payroll run has been completed and paid out.
  • Tracking where all the employees are throughout the day.
  • Screenshot to prove it's the employee clocking in.
  • Reports
  • GPS
  • An automated email saying hi "employee" it's time to review your timecard.
  • Errors are not allowing employees to clock in and out. We really struggle with this, and the employees are inside the geofence.
The errors and complications of the employees not being able to clock in and out when they are inside the geofence. Needing a notification to be sent out to remind the employees they need to approve their timecard.

ExakTime has been great at preventing "buddy clock-in" issues, verifying employees are on job sites when they are supposed to be, and eliminating paying false overtime.
  • Time tracking.
  • Geofences
  • GPS breadcrumbs while clocked in.
  • Have an option to remove previous employees, especially after months or years of no longer being with the company.
ExakTime helped us identify employees who were not clocking out when taking long lunch breaks and lying about when they actually arrived and clocked in. It helps hold employees accountable.

We use ExakTime for our employees to clock in and clock out for projects daily for payroll. It has eliminated the need for employees to keep paper time cards. Most employees find it very user-friendly. We are a concrete construction company with approximately 20 employees.
  • Track time.
  • Track where employees were at.
  • Lets you know if an employee was onsite when they clocked in or out.
  • Right now everything for us is running smoothly.
Great for tracking employees' time and transferring to the accounting system.

All of our employees log in on their cell phones each workday remotely on location. They also indicate job name, type of work, and start and finish times--and we are able to tell where they were at the time of the log-in. We use a standard format questionnaire at log-in to determine health status regarding COVID-19 exposure or not. We are able to get reports on the hours by employee worked on any type of work per day within the work week, including Time and Materials hours, as well as end-of-week statements of hours worked by employee on each type of work. Entering hours worked for payroll is therefore quite simple. The program is user-friendly and extremely intuitive. Will not change to any other system as this one is so useful and easy for both employer and employees.
  • Employee logs in and answers health-related questions before beginning work. They remotely provide their own timesheet information, adjustable by the administrator where needed.
  • Location at time of login is readily available. Distance from jobsite can be determined at any login.
  • Time for lunch is automatically deducted from work hours, logged by type of work interrupted, and easily adjustable by the employer if necessary.
  • Reports by employees of time spent on any type of work during the work day and work week are readily available. Work by job name is also available.

We use ExakTime to accurately track hours worked on various jobs. We use it on our desktops, cell phones, and via hornet clocks with key tabs. We also use Account Link to export the time to bring it into our accounting system.
  • User-friendly App
  • Reporting
  • Easy to set up new employees and locations
  • Frequent server problems
ExakTime is well suited for a company with multiple locations, groups of employees, and needs as far as collecting time. ExakTime may be overkill for a company with only one location that doesn't need to track time against multiple projects.

ExakTime works well for our employees in the field. They only need to remember their 4-digit code to punch in and out. It takes their photo to prevent buddy punching and asks them custom questions like, "Did you take all of your breaks today?" It shows the location of where they punch (vs the job they punched into). They recently added a "meal break" button, which is nice to punch out and back in for the main lunch break without having to take photos and answer questions. It also syncs with Sage 100 Contractor. It is a manual task but works easily.
  • Ease of Use.
  • Cost Effective.
  • Customizable
  • Custom Reporting.
  • Vacation Requests in Main Package (not extra cost).
  • Employee Message upon login (not extra cost) ie "Don't forget to..."
It is great for field workers who are always out and about, and you want to track their time on each project. It wouldn't be helpful if you don't track time by job.

ExakTime is used as our Timesheet tracking App for all hourly employees. Each week, we use the reporting module to calculate hours and upload them to our Payroll Software. This application is also used for our internal reporting; the total hours for each project are expensed against each project location to account for the profit margins on the Gross sales. This allows for an easier reporting method to streamline and produce accurate accounting methods for internal stakeholders.
  • GPS Location tracking for open project locations.
  • Clock in and out for all employees.
  • Downloading weekly reports for Touch Detail.
  • Downloading monthly reports for Location and employee totals.
  • Adding new employees into the software.
  • Adding new locations into the software.
  • Making adjustments to timesheets for inaccurate clock in and out from employees.
  • GPS PIN for locations not added in the "Location" module. We would use this for Service Calls. (one-off locations that don't need to be added to the software).
  • This is a way to adjust how many projects appear in the weekly drop-down menu. Although the majority of the projects are still considered active, there can be weeks where there is no work at some designated locations, so having the option to not display all at once would be helpful for the employees when looking for the tagged location they are working at during that current week.
For the size of our organization, I believe ExactTime is an appropriate tool for tracking timesheets. If the organization were to grow exponentially, I feel like there would need to be more monitoring on a daily basis due to the fact that some employees forget to clock in and out.

At our manufacturing facility, ExakTime allows our company to track employee working hours precisely and efficiently.
  • Hourly time tracking.
  • Location accuracy.
  • There are multiple steps an employee needs to take to clock out.
We chose ExakTime because of the Geofence option. We are allowing our company to see when an employee left the premises without clocking out. With ExakTime, we are able to see precisely how many actual working hours are spent on a project.

We use ExakTime to record hours for payroll, separate travel hours from work hours and also to keep honesty when recording time. Honesty is kept because it snaps a picture of the employee's face and a geo fence can be created to ensure they are where they are supposed to be while working and not punching in and out at the hotel or another location.
  • record employee work time
  • run payroll reports
  • batch time entry, ie: for holidays, etc...
  • create geo fence for punching
  • snap picture of employee when punching
  • allow times to be entered without needing to separate line items when manual time entry is past a 12 hour window
  • for employee profiles, allow social security numbers to be entered
  • allow for more info and functionality to be available on the mobile app for the admin
  • allow for a PTO time tracker
well suited for construction industry because employees can punch in and out on any mobile device, anywhere, regardless of any type of travel; well suited for keeping employees honest with their locations for punching when travelling and the pictures allow for employees to not be able to punch for someone else. Even well suited for office personnel because it records the time for payroll all in one place.

We use Exaktime for our office staff with a slow rollout to our field staff, where using a digital timecard makes the most sense. • Time Tracking
  • Compliance
  • Ease of Use
  • User Interface
  • Time Off Requests
  • License Purchasing

It was historically used with our company as our benefits elections portal. It was a good step for us to take toward eliminating the need for paper. They also have EDI feeds to the majority of our carriers eliminating manually entering data once an employee is hired or terminated. It was also nice because we can run reports showing different populations of elections or elections census as we move into renewal time.
  • Easy to use for employees
  • Easy to process new hires and terminations
  • Detail view of exactly what coverage levels and costs will be for employees - very important so there are no surprises.
  • EDI's generally work but there are times when someone doesnt end up on a feed for whatever reason so I do have to add manually. Less than 5%
  • Wish it integrated with our HRIS system to receive the employee information upon hire
  • Overall support: never knew who to get ahold of for troubleshooting. i joined mid year and was hoping for a orientation to the software but taught myself instead. if there was a dedicated account rep (there may be) who reach out to schedule time, that would be great.
The same as the business case for us. We only used it for benefits enrollment and elections for both new hires and open enrollment. I think it is a good software to small to midsize companies. In most cases, if you are able to integrated everything into one system, that would be best, but if you have a need for a standalone benefits election software as we did, then this is great.

We're able to track the guys hours through this and we're able to see how long it took them to do a certain tasks ( as they clock into that certain subject) . It's nice to see if the guys clocked in at the job site out a couple miles out.

  • when trying to track the amount of time spent to not make a big fat file. Make it tiny so we can see ow much hours were spent doing a certain thing.
I just think it's very expensive. I wish it as a bit cheaper and our representative is more attentative. i tried contacting him and calling him about our charge as we got charged for accounts that weren't active but i got ignored. But its really ice for being a contractor and being able to see that no matter where they are they're able to clock in.

We use ExakTime to manage Time Clocking for our field employees. We use the ExakTime Mobile function so each employee clocks in and out on their own device. The service had an admittedly rocky start as the employees got used to using it, but now it is a very reliable tool to know exactly when and for how long an employee worked on a given day. We are just starting using the ExakTime system for Scheduling, and it is largely helpful, with the exception of a few strange gaps in the system. As of the writing of this review there is a on hour limit on how long before a shift an employee will be notified. This is not at all helpful. The ability to send shift notifications the night before is a necessity, as many employees drive an hour or more to a site, and they need more notice than 1 hour beforehand. Another feature we would like to see added is ability to assign Locations instead of employees to a Foreman's view set. The specific employees at a site changes often, so it is not practical to assign employees daily to the view set of each foreman. It would be much more helpful for the foreman to have anyone on their Site in their view site automatically.
  • Very straightforward time clock for employees
  • Accurate and reliable GPS Tracking for In and Out Punches
  • Very helpful reports for management use
  • Foreman/Superintendent View set Function is all but nonexistent
  • The Scheduling is missing a Warning/Notice for overlapping scheduled hours
  • Pre-shift notifications more than 60 minutes before Start of Shift is a necessity and needs to be implemented for the Scheduling to be all encompassing.
ExakTime gets a 6 for likelihood to recommend it because although it has been very helpful in the time recording and location management function, the scheduling function in very lacking, and the Support/Customer Service is minimal. If the new functions mentioned in previous questions are implemented, the system would be much more user-friendly, and I would probably bump my rating to 8 or 9.

We use ExakTime to track all of our field employees' locations and time worked. We went from using paper sign in sheets to the ExakTime mobile app and it has saved our company so much time and money. No more manual entering of time or having to remember when someone work two weeks ago. We review the time clocks every day and make sure everyone worked the correct number of hours and are in the correct locations.
  • Easy to learn
  • Support is very responsive
  • Reports are easy to find
  • Hard to learn how to import time to Foundation
  • So many reports, hard to find the right one at first glance
  • Sales team was a little disorganized when we first signed up
ExakTime is perfect when you want to track you labor in the field. I would use for office staff. ExakTime is also really well suited if you have workers in more than one location. If all of your employees usually just work in one location, I would probably utilize a different software.

The construction industry is way behind on electronic HR tools. I have gradually over the past couple of years introduced advanced tools provided by Viewpoint. Arcoro HR is a recognized partner with Viewpoint and is how we became acquainted. In my first 3 years with Trans Ash I was not able to find a HR software company that was familiar enough with Viewpoint Vista to give us HR tools that we needed to automate HR. WE partnered with Arcoro HR 2 years ago. They were able to give us a flexible and user friendly ATS and Onboarding option as well and build a daily data feed to our Vista software. We are a growing company Last year we hired almost 400 hourly employees in 8 states in both 2021 and again in 2022. I am so thankful we did not have to use paper forms and manual data entry. Our site guys fought it at first and now that they are thankful that we have the systems that we have. We are looking at additional modules for the future.
  • Providing a hiring tool that eliminates paper forms
  • Building the data transfer files
  • They are not overly pushing on selling their full menu of products
  • Modules can be purchase ala cart as you need them
  • A live feed to Vista would be fantastic. NOTE: In all fairness, I not sure if the hold up is Arcoro HR or our accounting software provider.
  • Pricing can be confusing to figure out when implementing.
If you are a regional spread out construction company in need to introducing electronic HR processes, our field employees have fully embraced and mastered using the ATS and Onboarding. Doing this has improved timeliness of hiring, reduced errors and made turning the first paycheck a non-issue.

I use ExakTime every week to process payroll for the company. ExakTime is excellent for our particular field of construction because the geofencing allows us to keep an accurrate account of the employees no matter the location. It is also particularly simple to make corrections in the system when individuals forget to clock in and out.
  • Geo Fencing
  • Accountability
  • Accuracy
  • Account linking
  • Software compatibility
  • Speed
  • double time being added during corrections
I like how ExakTime geo fencing can narrow down how far an employee is from the work area before clocking in and out. The view sets to adjust cost codes for different projects is a plus. I also appreciate the pinpoint setup with the radius to determine the work zone is adjustable even after adding the address. There are often errors when trying to adjust time. I've seen people's time get doubled when a correction is needed.

We use ExakTime for timekeeping purposes. Most of our employees are out in the field so we needed a program that allowed them to clock in, clock out, and clock in for their meal periods. We also use it to see where our employees are clocking in/out. We had an issue with employees taking their lunch on time and ExakTime sends them a reminder 30 minutes before. There are some features that could be improved. For example, when an employee wants to use vacation/paid sick time, the hours are entered but go under regular hours. It would be nice if they were separate. Overall, the product is really good. It is relatively new so we are hopeful with time it will only get better.
  • tracks employee's clock in/out location
  • has a detailed view of time cards
  • provides many reports
  • The Geotrakker feature needs improvement. It is not that accurate.
  • It would be nice to have meal waivers on the application.
  • Cost codes for vacation/sick time need improvement
  • it would be nice if employees could request time off on the application
ExakTime has really helped us with the employees lunches. We used to use handwritten timesheets, which were outdated. Now, they can use their phone to punch out for their lunch. Another great thing is that we can see if an employee is clocking out from the correct locations or from home.

We have 48 employees using the time tracker to track their time each day for payroll. Not sure if they are lazy or do not understand the way to choose the right job. We find that apple phones transport data better than android phones. We have a few employees that come in almost every day to say they could not clock out.
  • Track the location to the employee
  • Provide payroll information
  • Reports are prety good
  • Easy to download to phones
  • Start - stop easy to understand
  • apple phones transport data better than android phones
  • Like to set 1-2 employees to just one job location all the time
  • Do you need to change the set up code so often?
  • I would like to create a report using specific fields
  • Can I set a time they cannot start before?
Doing payroll for 48 people is a task, Exak Time has made it easier and harder for me. People do not clock in and do not get paid then they come complaining. Some clock in 30 min before their shift and want to get paid to stand around and drink coffee and smoke. The put random jobs down so I cannot track where they are. They come and go as they please and that helps us keep costs down so we are not paying them when they are not really on the job (a problem we had before). Most of it is the crews responsibility to do it right. It helps me to see which employees can be trusted and which cannot. Sometimes the log in or out does not send data to me the same day. One guy was snowed in 12 miles away for 3 days his data for payroll did not send till he came back into town.
