Experian Data Quality’s phone verification service allows users to validate landlines against the North
American Numbering Plan (NANP) and verify whether a given mobile telephone number exists and is
live on a network.
The phone validation tool runs any U.S. or Canadian landlines through a series of algorithms, flagging area
code and format errors before parsing and standardizing the number according to the NANP. Phone
verification is an important aspect within overall data management initatives as well as a tool to improve
customer service, save time and money, and increase the rate of accurate form completions.
Three ways to verify phone numbers
There are three ways to verify phone numbers, depending on what information is needed:
- Global phone validation: Use a web service to validate phone numbers in real-time. The service provides the information needed on each number, such as network status and phone type.
- Phone verification API: An API service helps validate phone numbers in real-time—for when a user is checking out online and the phone number is typed into the field. This helps keep fake numbers from ever entering a database.
- Bulk phone number validation: Automatically clean up a phone number list. The user can set up recurring phone number list cleaning, or upload phone number list whenever desired.
