We use Experlogix as a product configurator tool within MS CRM 2016 and have been doing so since 2010. The user creates an opportunity from an account and generates the quote from the configurator. There’s a hierarchy Of questions starting with the market, area of application, and then choosing the system, software, and other add-on products.
  • Complexity of rules and configuring to suit your need is high.
  • Properties you can set is almost unlimited.
  • Fairly easy to develop and helps users comply to standards.
  • Designer tool, it could still be friendlier.
  • UI look designing is not that easy.
The sales and service process is very it’s best suited. Limited towards other home custom entities.

  • More than 10 years ensuring quality quotes from the sales reps.
  • Easy copying.
  • Quick provides an good overview.
We only used this tool but in some events, we used the internal functionality that MS CRM could provide using business rules, workflows, and form changes to support the processes. CRM has no configuration tool so a third-party tool is necessary.

I am using Salesforce CPQ for the last 4 years and I can say it is the most amazing CRM which is created by Salesforce. It addresses all the problems of management of the product it price sales till delivery. Manufacturing companies are using this product as a backbone to handle the products with a particular price book and offer with it. Managing the account is made simple with Salesforce CPQ. There is a standard object which is provided as a managed package by Salesforce object such as Product, Product features, Price books, Quotes, Pricing, Partners, Partner discounts have made the handling of data super easy. We are using this CPQ to book new orders by the client providing them the quotes using the automation process which reduces a lot of efforts by the business. The partner will be eligible for partner discounts if the partner is a premium partner saved in Salesforce. From the collection of orders to sending the confirmation emails are taken care of by Salesforce through automation. Overall it has reduced efforts to manage and store the data for manufacturing and product companies.
  • It stores the products which the company has and from sending of quotes to delivery is taken care of by Salesforce through automation.
  • It has standard objects such as a price book which handles the price of the product and partners will be able to view the price of the product and see the quantity available for them and orders can be placed as per the price book.
  • Partner's data will be stored in the CPQ and as per the partner discount and volume discounts will be automatically provided at the final billing which is done through automation
  • Product features object will have the information of the product which business sells who's the parent is product and can give a high-level view to the customer what the product is all about. Making purchasing easy for the partner
  • Quotes and subscriptions will be managed by the CRM itself and using the automation rules the product order will be captured and product delivery will be maintained
  • The room for improvement is the Lightning experience as I feel that it is slow as compared to the classic view
  • They can improve on more out of the box functionalities related to the development of the Lightning page for the User Interface instead of more scripting
If the business is related to a manufacturing company or a telecom I say it is the best CRM that you can use for maintaining the Product and Partners. Salesforce w-Con CPQ Salesforce provides a full package to the business to design their business with out-of-the-box functionalities. Handling of product, Orders, price book, Product details, Partners, Discounts, Billings, Subscriptions, Quantity, Volume discounts, Total price everything is handled by Salesforce with its standard objects itself. We can create fields whichever the business wants under the object and design the automation as per the needs. Capturing orders sending quotes and final billing all is automated and maintained by Salesforce itself with the automation rules. We can use Workflows to send automated emails when a particular condition is meet reducing the manual efforts. The area where Salesforce CPQ is less appropriate is in the case of marketing the products such as creating the Leads and converting them to accounts and contacts here Salesforce CPQ lags.
  • The most important is handling the Subscribers and Products where the partner can make a call for the order. Using the standard objects he can view all the product available and will make easy for them to order
  • Product price book and product details object stores all the details of the product which can make purchasing of the product much easier as per the understanding of the product.
  • Subscription and renews are managed by Salesforce using automation tools we can send automated emails to the clients for the renewal of the subscription will the details of new products.
  • The orders and their history are stored as records under the purchasers for tracking of the amount and orders received
  • Order capturing is made super easy and fully automated with Salesforce CPQ with the bonus of generating reports as well

  • There is everything positive here as it gives a full package to the business to track the sales of the product and to generate reports
  • If the Business size is small then it will be difficult to maintain and purchase this CRM
  • There should be multiple products and consumer of the business to bring it to full use as if the product is less than other cheap CRM's can handle it.
The standard objects provided by Salesforce are much more apt than SAP. Out-of-the-box functionality provided by Salesforce is much better than any other CRM. If we want to implement some custom workaround we can use Apex scripting which is much similar to java and is very easy for the developers to grab and implement the Login. There is more drag and drop functionality provided by Salesforce CPQ than any other CRM. Overall implementation is easy than SAP.
