  • Uptime in a school setting is incredibly important. We have never had downtime due to ExtremeWireless having a loss of services.
  • The ability to run a BYOD/Guest wireless on the same hardware with separate VLANs helps us support students who bring their own devices to school.
  • These devices are quite expensive though, coming in at about $1000 per AP510c. And that's if you can order them with their supply shortages right now.

  • A positive impact was the exposure to a centralized management platform, which was still new in the industry.
  • A negative would be the hours spent troubleshooting APS because of failed firmware upgrades. This includes gaining access to the AP for a factory default in areas not easily accessible, which in turn extended the downtime of the solution in that area of the office/building

  • It improved productivity for our warehouse workers when using scanning guns that are connected to our APs.
  • Ease of use for our helpdesk to troubleshoot basic issues and could down on the cost of managing the wireless core service.
  • Expansion of our infrastructure is less tedious than other solutions and the implementation phase is short.

  • Linking APs to AD, via NPS, and gaining the password reset policy; helped us move past some issues that we were held up on with SOC
  • Segregating corporate wifi and guest wifi, plus forcing guest wifi to agree to the Acceptable Use Policy, was needed to pass a compliance audit of the network.
  • Being able to locate which users are connected to which individual wifi AP, has been a asset with troubleshooting
  • APs sharing connections allows for us to overlap the wifi zones and create redundancy if an AP were to go offline for any reason.

  • Warehouse picking guns don't disconnect constantly anymore
  • I have a lot more time to create value for the business, because I'm not troubleshooting wi-fi anymore.
  • Segregating guest wi-fi from production wi-fi has been good for compliance.

  • Initial expense is high due to pricey hardware, though recurring costs make the ROI better over the long term.
  • Remote access is fairly simple and we can deploy entire home setups or even small offices very quickly. This is provides good ROI to get the business moving quickly.
