What is flexEngage?

flexEngage is a solution offered by Klarna that provides digital receipts to businesses. According to the vendor, this tool aims to reduce customer churn, maintain customer engagement, and drive future purchases. flexEngage is suitable for businesses of various sizes, including retailers, e-commerce companies, brick-and-mortar stores, and those in the hospitality and consumer goods industries.

Key Features

Enhanced Digital Receipts: flexEngage offers feature-rich and engaging digital receipts. These receipts provide personalized and targeted marketing channels, including detailed product information, images, web links, banners, recommendations, and customer surveys to increase response rates.

Seamless Integration and Delivery: Integration with flexEngage's Digital Receipts is a hassle-free process through their API or POS system plugins. Customer data is securely transferred to flexEngage for receipt creation, and customers receive a link to their personalized receipt via SMS, email, or the Klarna app. The vendor handles the delivery of digital receipts on behalf of the business, optimizing inbox placement, delivery, and tracking.

Maximize Email Channel: flexEngage helps businesses leverage their email channel for ongoing customer dialogue. By utilizing digital receipts, businesses can personalize marketing offers and initiatives to engage customers post-purchase effectively.

Proven Performance: According to the vendor, flexEngage has successfully sent over 500 million digital receipts annually from more than 15,000 stores worldwide. The opt-in rate for digital receipts at checkout is stated to be 30%, with an open rate of 60% and a click-through rate of 20%.

Easy Integration: Integration with flexEngage's Digital Receipts is a straightforward process, allowing businesses to start sending personalized digital receipts within 2-3 weeks. Valid email addresses can be easily collected at the point of sale, and flexEngage manages transactional communications, saving time for businesses.

Enhanced Customer Engagement: The vendor claims that by utilizing flexEngage's digital receipts, businesses can effectively engage customers post-purchase through their most impactful post-purchase email. This can lead to increased customer satisfaction and drive additional sales and initiatives such as survey feedback or loyalty program sign-ups.

Targeted Marketing Content: flexEngage allows for targeted marketing content on receipts, enabling businesses to easily make changes to the receipts and access performance metrics through the merchant portal.

POS Integration: flexEngage seamlessly integrates with over 20 POS companies, including Aptos, Oracle, Veras, and Retail Pro. Existing receipt data formats can be utilized to avoid the need for a new API integration.

Real-time Processing: According to the vendor, API requests for digital receipts are processed in near real-time, typically taking less than one second. This ensures that customers receive their digital receipt promptly.

Offline Mode Support: In the event of cash registers going offline, receipt API requests are queued and processed in a batch manner once the registers are back online.

We attach customers to transactions at the point of sale and online. An XML copy of those transactions is sent to flexEngage where the different pieces of information can be added to the e-receipt template. The obvious business problem the product addresses is the fact that we can communicate with our customers via this e-receipt better than a paper receipt at the store can.
  • The partnership and communication with us have just been amazing.
  • They respond to change requests very quickly and turnaround time is minimal.
  • Most importantly, the resulting e-receipts look great!
  • Not a con by any means, but a toolkit to design receipts with available information ourselves.
I don't work with the CRM team but I do know that they use flexEngage to track click-through rates associated with the advertising of promotions, gifts with purchase, BOPUS, etc. There's definitely a lot less information to be had from a point of sale point of view because the transaction originates there. I know it's been a great benefit to us and our customers.
  • Design/Aesthetics.
  • Ease of Integration.
  • None of that info is available to me at this point.
Not applicable.
