What is Forcepoint DLP?

Forcepoint DLP promises to address human-centric risk by providing visibility and control everywhere your people work and everywhere your data resides. Security teams apply user-risk scoring to focus on the events that matter most and to accelerate compliance with global data regulations.

The vendor promises these benefits:
  • Accelerate compliance
  • Empower people to protect data
  • Advanced detection and controls that follow the data

RESPOND AND REMEDIATE RISK
Traditional approaches to DLP overload users with false positives while missing data at risk. Forcepoint DLP applies advanced analytics to correlate seemingly unrelated DLP events into prioritized incidents. Incident Risk Ranking (IRR) provided with Forcepoint DLP fuses disparate DLP indicators into a framework of Bayesian belief networks to assess the likelihood of data risk scenarios, such as data theft and broken business processes.

VISIBILITY EVERYWHERE YOUR PEOPLE WORK, CONTROL EVERYWHERE YOUR DATA RESIDES
Today’s enterprises are challenged with complicated environments, where data is everywhere and requires the protection of data in places that aren’t managed or owned by the enterprise. Forcepoint DLP for Cloud Applications extends analytics and DLP policies to critical cloud applications so your data is protected, wherever it resides.

We have been fairly happy with the product and how it has worked. We have looked at other vendors for url filter and such and have not found one that meets our needs or does what we have been doing with Websense. The product has been fairly stable and we have only had a few issues in the past. We have all seen that it was one of the highest leaders from the Gartner Group Magic Quadrant for Web Gateways.

A lot of the rating is that after a few years of implementing Websense, it would be hard to rip it out and reinstall a new solution that includes all modules we use. Also, after finally getting to talk to engineers knowledgeable about the Websense solutions, we were finally able to build out the best possible solution for our company; I didn't feel like this was presented to us in the beginning. I am still a little disappointed we had to talk to a 3rd party vendor for this though.

I am no longer at the company that used Websense but the last I heard they were still using it. Out of all the products I have tested or used, Websense seems the most streamlined and easy to manage. The place I am currently at is using a competitor version and we are constantly having issues monthly with it.

Continuity is important to our customers. The amount of time it takes help desk or incident response personnel to get up to speed on new products is a significant deterrent to changing products mid-lifecycle. Websense Web Security has a fairly shallow learning curve (from an administrative, not implementation standpoint) so it is very easy for new employees to get familiar with the interface and begin working with the product immediately.
