What is FortiClient?

FortiClient is a Fabric Agent that delivers protection, compliance, and secure access in a single, modular lightweight client. A Fabric Agent is a bit of endpoint software that runs on an endpoint, such as a laptop or mobile device and communicates with the Fortinet Security Fabric to provide information, visibility, and control to that device.

The Unified FortiClient agent provides enhanced security capabilities by adding AI-based next-generation antivirus (NGAV), endpoint quarantine, and application firewall, as well as support for cloud sandbox, USB device control, and ransomware protection.

Additionally, the Unified FortiClient agent enables remote workers to securely connect to the network using zero-trust principles. This edition enables both Universal ZTNA- and VPN-encrypted tunnels, as well as URL filtering and cloud access security broker (CASB). FortiSASE provides cloud-hosted Universal ZTNA, CASB, and SWG and includes the Unified FortiClient agent. Central management via FortiClient EMS is included.

And to simplify the initial deployment and offload ongoing monitoring, Fortinet offers Endpoint-focused managed services to provide complete operation of the FortiClient solution, providing set up, deployment, configuration, vulnerability monitoring, and overall endpoint security monitoring.

FortiClient is a very simple software that is being used mainly for VPN purposes. Very secure software which you can rely on. The level of protection that it comes with is something you appreciate for the price. Very convenient, since setting it up it does not take a lot of knowledge at all.
  • VPN works very smoothly
  • Protect your identity from any intruder
  • Provides several levels of protection
  • The interface is kind of messy
  • Software does not come with a tutorial
  • It's not friendly for someone who does not use VPN
One of the cases which we use VPN for is for desktop remote connection, and FortiClient provides a well and stable connection, while at the same time giving you confidence that the data you are working with will be protected, even when using remote connection. This also works well if you want to change your IP address.
  • Saves us money from hiring professional talent to set up remote connections
  • Sometime might have a lag, which creates a delay on business responses
  • Is a great solution for VPN at a great price
What stands out from the other competitors is that Forticlient guarantees a great performance and also provides a big level of security for all the data that you will be managing using this software. It's really worth it, and the price is not that expensive if we compare it to competitors.

The use of this software is mainly for creating a secure and stable connection while performing a remote link between two computers. We improve a lot from it, because this one is very secure and lets the user use his other tools to work without putting the integrity of the data in danger.

These are mainly developers that are in the need of connecting remotely. Whether they are on a trip or working from home, these people use this software on an on going basis. It is also used by IT technicians to report damages or fortify the firewall of each persons computer.

Because the software is very simple and easy to use, very efficient, and has a stable connection that allows the user to perform tasks without problems. Also, this software does not need to be configured by IT technicians, since it comes with a very developed and understandable set up guide.

Price. The price factor is something important, since sometimes we need software without previous notice, therefore we have to take it from an already established budget. The financial goal for us is to save on everything we can, so when it comes to price, this is a very important factor we consider.
I would first take a look at the user interface and evaluate the aspects of the software--this could have saved us some time training staff and getting a good overview of how it works. After this, there is nothing else we could change in our criteria, since it's a nice VPN.
This rating was given because the FortiClient support team offers the client a good knowledge base to understand the product. Also, they take their time to explain and understand your issue, which at one point helped us resolve a technical issue out of our hands that was occurring at that time.
No
There was one time that my PC was having difficulties in the OS, and I called thinking that the issue was happening due to the software. So they listened to my problem and kindly asked me some questions, just to get rid of possible malfunctions. At the end we were in the call for 1 hour and they helped me out with the issue occurring on my PC and made FortiClient work pretty well.
  • Connecting to the VPN
  • Configuring your login info for remote desktop
  • Doing a malware revision
  • Setting it up on Mac OS
  • Checking and defining security policies
  • Centralizing client managing monitorization
FortiClient's usability is oriented to the person who doesn't deal with technology everyday, therefore my rating is a high 9. They put great effort into making the interface user friendly. Overall, FortiClient's navigational interface is well structured, along with the data entry and the search engine.
