Genius Solutions is a strong ERP tool. Genius Solutions ERP made my work easier by managing all my accountings, and inventory-like stuff and allowing me to focus on my business. we are happy to be working with Genius Solutions ERP. It provide use with all the information's necessary to make decision regarding production and purchasing. They offer many different avenues for training; Genius E-class, Genius Academy and an in depth help section within the software for each module.

Pros

  • Training - Genius Solutions provide E shops for the product training which makes it more trustable.
  • The software is easy to learn and easy to operate. Every major updates comes with many new features, so it get better and better with every updates.
  • It is easy to navigate and learn. It has helped us streamline processes, reduce costs and increase customer responsiveness.

Cons

  • Customization of reports can be costly.
  • In my opinion the Quality section is not as good as we expected.
  • For Customization we need Power BI knowledge

  • Its reduced the production cost and make a control on extra costs,
  • Its helps us in growing as manufacturing unit
  • There is a lot of scope of improvement with its interface, customisation is very limited.

I am the Controller for the company. I manage Accounting, Human Resources, and Inventory Control. Therefore, I use Genius on a daily basis, all day, for all accounting functions, i manage account set ups, family set ups, employee set ups, GL set ups, bank set ups, Bank Recs, Inventory, Perod Close, Calander Management.

  • Costing functions are limited
  • Account Analysis also not easily available

Genius is a user friendly, remote desktop system with endless features catering to all types of businesses. They provide an easy to access, in system help section as well as prompt email contact to aid in navigating thorough any issues you may have. Their personnel are well trained, patient and knowledgeable. With training classes available and Genius's advance system that is constantly evolving, there is always something new to learn to better help your business.

  • remote system can be slow to open/export and save to local desktop
  • learning the system fully is a long process

we currently use Genius to:

1. Manage all our items (raw material, manufactured material, consigned material and finished goods).

2. Manage our item configuration (creating bills of manufacturing and bills of material).

3. Enter and track customer orders

4. manage material

5. houses all our vendors

6. creating purchase orders

7. creating shipping documentation

8. Managing daily business activities such as open orders.

Pros

  • Provide higher-level reports that include enough details to make decisions and manage. example, their open order reports is incredible. It shows you a 40ft view of the existing orders, their status, the material availability, etc. and if you need more detail, most of the fields on that report are linked to detailed pages (e.g. you can look at a specific job/work order or the original sales order entered or the BOM consumption, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable staff. If you have a Genius academy license, you are able to join canteens that are 1 hr Q&A sessions held 3 times per week to answer any questions or issues you have.
  • we are able to use so many of their additional fields to create any report we desire. This feature is also available on line now, but we have not yet completed our transition to V15 which has that feature.
  • Techs are able to use the system to update work orders and consume material which is slowly eliminating our use of paper copies all over the shop floor.

Cons

  • Genius holds regular webinars with their customers to get our feedback on the modules. One thing we recently discussed and I'm sure we'll see in the next version is having more info available in the physical inventory module such as the description of the material being counted, allocations against it, and the last price or cost of the material. This would make the process more efficient when we can sort through the list of counted locations and parts and ignore all low dollar items and concentrate of the critical items.
  • They host many very educational webinars but some of these cost money. I was hoping they would give access to these when you purchase a genius academy license.
  • Their work instruction in the hep menu can be much improved. It's not easy to go to the help menu and understand how to use a module fully. You should be able to use the help instructions to navigate and not have to put in a ticket every time you're trying to figure something out.

Return on Investment

  • Although we are still working through our implementation, we have so far been able to remove working outside the system. For a sometime, operations and accounting have had a huge disconnect because ops worked from external excel spreadsheets and databases, while accounting worked only inside genius. Since we have been working with Genius and using many of their dashboards and training resources, we have been able to remove that working outside the system part and have been able to keep everyone on the same page.
  • We have been able to allocate a whole resource to help with the continued growth of our engineering capabilities by using the bills of manufacturing, bills of materials and reporting in Genius. We had a full time position to just create, update and manage routers. We also had to deal with typos and other errors that happens when you have a human manually entering information.

Pros

  • Product Configuration(the ability to quote customisable products.)
  • Inventory Management (Keep shelves stocked with stockable inventory)
  • Manufacturing Scheduling

Cons

  • Genius is great at making it so you can't change a "confirmed" transaction but this limits the ability to easily fix mistakes. I.e., instead of deleting or changing an invoice you have to credit it and remake it. This is makes it easier to track what happened but is tedious when someone made multiple of the same mistakes.

Return on Investment

  • Being able to track time, cost of outside services and cost of materials has allowed us to trust the accuracy of our product markups and prices.
  • Improved inventory control allows us to get products out quicker.
  • The ability to sync the database with Power BI has allowed up to have a better picture of our financials and projected cashflow.
