I'm using it mostly to understand how our ads look in different locations.
  • Hiding an IP
  • Simulate a location
  • Ease of use
  • Device simulation
  • Location simulation
  • IP hiding
It's very easy to use to simulate different locations. For example selecting "UK" will lead you to the UK version of Google, where you can see the relevant search results.

My team uses GeoSurf to test how our clients' websites and apps work when visiting them in different countries, as we have to do this for dozens of countries from one location. This is particularly important for our In-App business, as many apps only work in certain locations. Not many people in the company use it, I think, but the ones that use it tend to use it a lot.
  • GeoSurf is fairly easy to use.
  • A lot of countries and even regions within some countries (like in Australia, US, UK) can easily be specified to be the location used.
  • It works well on both desktop browsers and on mobile phones (which is something not all tools offer).
  • I mentioned that it is good to specify certain regions in a few countries; it would be good to have more regions in far more countries though. Especially in areas like Russia or China this would be very helpful.
  • Last time I used it, the Mobile Emulator didn't have all the different mobile browser types that are relevant in some parts of Asia or Africa (like Opera Mini or UC Browser). That could be very helpful in our business.
GeoSurf is very useful when doing location-focused business across many countries but have to handle all of the work from one office - geo-targeting is very important in online marketing sometimes. In addition to this, having lots of device and browser emulation available makes international multi-device business easier, as we have to check how certain advertising works on different devices and browsers.

In our department GeoSurf is used as a VPN to test foreign user accounts for localization purposes. This helps ease the localization process as many of our products are released worldwide in many different countries. It is currently only used by one department but that could change in the future, as our department heads see changes in the industry.
  • Unlimited IP Switching.
  • Instant Setup and Easy Accessibility with Tool Bar Interface.
  • Extension and Plug-in Convenience.
  • Expensive.
  • Slow for some countries.
  • Really only fit for large to mid sized organizations.
GeoSurf is well suited for teams that need to research performance on 5 or more locales. Fewer than that, there are freeware options that provide the same service at no significant detriment to usability.

Select teams use Geosurf to reproduce the user experience across the locales supported by our site. It ensures that ads and partners present exactly as they did to the user.
  • Geosurf offers the most relevant locales
  • Geosurf is very responsive when an IP address stops working or is blocked
  • The mobile emulator is particularly helpful
  • There doesn't appear to be quality control across IP addresses, at least those supplied to my team. We are the ones that notice when they stop working. Geosurf could be more proactive in finding failing sites.
Geosurf is well suited for teams that need to research performance on 5 or more locales. Fewer than that, there are freeware options that provide the same service at no significant detriment to usability.

I manage the department that is in charge on all of our Marketing tools and technologies. In that capacity, I make decisions about purchasing new technologies and changing/implementing current technologies and systems. As such, GeoSurf is a tool I purchased for dozens of users in Marketing, including myself. It helps us to look at how our services are being seen in other geographies, operating systems and mobile devices, which we couldn't have done without a VPN tool.
  • simulating other geographies
  • simulating mobile OS
  • The automatic login seems not to work at times
  • The way it works makes our IT department to adjust security settings from time to time
It will work well for companies that need to simulate different geos and operating systems. It is quite easy to manage from admin point of view.

  • More than 120 locations of choice.
  • Better than VPN because they have actual servers in the locations.
  • More than one IP can be used per mobile device.
  • Expensive monthy cost.
  • Really only fit for large to mid sized organizations.
  • No individual plans for independent/small businesses.
This is great if you are developing an application that you intend to go worldwide. There could be a lot of reasons to use geosurf, some of which are, to be able to monitor ad campaigns that are geo-targeted (making sure that your ads are properly deployed in countries you choose), look at what my competition is doing, see what ads shows up on your site from a different location, etc.

Geosurf is used only by the marketing department.
We use it mostly for two reasons:
  • To search by country and for each [country], to find the most viewed website according to specific topics.
  • We also use it when we have to test our marketing material.
  • I don't think I use all the potentialities of it, I use it actually only for the reasons I gave before
  • Same as previous reply, I don't have enough knowledge of it to find some improvements to do.
It's perfect when you work for example, in marketing online and your focus is on different countries.

Our monetization team uses Geosurf to take screenshots for international advertising campaigns and also for troubleshooting purposes.
  • It's very easy and super convenient to use, since it's easily accessible via the toolbar menu of my browser and I can turn it on and off without any issues.
  • The additional mobile emulator is a nice feature, it's more reliable than any methods I have to test mobile otherwise.
  • It's great at what it does. It does one thing and it does it very well and is very reliable.
  • I like the tool, but if I needed to cut costs this is probably the first thing that would go. It's nice to have and it works great, but most things we spend money on have much broader capabilities.
  • We had some issues where all of our users we using a single sign on and there were some surprise overage fees. It would be great if there were automated alerts or usage reports to see who is using the tool, and how often (which may also help justify the expense).
If I had a colleague only looking to proxy location, this is hands down the tool I'd recommend. The primary reason I'm giving it a 7 out of 10 is due to the fact that (1) I consider this a nice to have tool, not a must have tool and (2) it doesn't do a wider range of things.

We use geosurf to help view our video on demand service across 18 Latin American countries for QA issues and support
  • Has the ability to select multiple countries
  • Has more than one connection in larger countries for better reliability and coverage
  • Connects with little issues and at a fast speed
  • Does not disconnect user on any instance
  • Not all countries are available
  • Some countries fail to connect because of software update
  • Speeds begin to slow at early evening times
Well suited to view website pages using a local IP address in a specific country to remedy any QA issues.

I am aware of my department (international) using this tool in order to functionally test our international products. The majority of our products require the user to be accessing the sites from specific country IPs. This tool allows us to do this.
  • There is a very handy toolbar that integrates well with my browser (Chrome).
  • With a couple of clicks, I can change the country that I'm in.
  • This tools meets my requirements, currently nothing to improve upon.
I rate this tool highly. I can very quickly change my browser to be in UK, Italy, or Spain.

[It's a] great solution if you are a professional who needs to change browsing locations on a daily basis. [It's] great to reveal sites that are not accessible in your location. Also allows you to interact with sites from different countries. It allows you to see how pages will look on various mobile devices. [It's] great for monitoring ad campaigns based on a specific location.

We use Geosurf for 2 main purposes:
  • Emulate mobile environment
  • Emulate different geo locations
These emulations are used to verify and troubleshoot ad placements.

  • Ease of mobile emulation
  • Ease of geo location changes
  • I don't really like the part where all the tabs are refreshed when i initiate emulation to either mobile or geo location. I tend to have multiple tabs opened and this is really frustrating.
  • I noticed I tend to get logged out using the Chrome toolbar. Is there really a need to log a user out from the toolbar?
GOOD:
Geo location changes are really easy to execute.

CAN BE BETTER:
Mobile emulation could be better if it can also adjust view screen to the actual device size. Currently, I suppose it only masquerades the user agent. A full-size desktop mobile emulated browser isn't going to be the same as a physical mobile device.

GeoSurf Allows us to mimic our product behaviour in different countries. It's one of the only VPNs that works alongside proxy apps. It's being used though many departments especially our mobile department.
  • Fast connection
  • Works with proxy
  • Great Service
  • Mac app is a bit out dated
  • Sometimes hangs
When testing the product performance on other location from where our R&D is, it works well. It's still being detected sometimes by 3rd party as VPN / Proxy which is problematic.

We use it for our digital acquisition campaigns to check if our ads are appearing correctly in other countries and if our agency's [ads] followed our brand guidelines.
  • Easy to activate and to switch to other countries.
  • It allows for selecting almost every important country that a marketer would be interested in.
  • I can pick a continent, a country and sometimes even regions within a country.
  • It doesn't go down to the city level, which is annoying when you manage paid search campaigns with geo-located settings on.
  • It doesn't work for China.
  • I had the issue for several days where I select US but I am redirected to Israel.
My advertising agency and I are based in London. But my main market is in the US. So without GeoSurf, I wouldn't be able to check if my US campaigns are properly showing on Google or Bing US. Unfortunately, I cannot do the same for China. I get errors every time I try to access Google China or Baidu.

[It's used for] testing webpages outside of our country of origin for geo-targeted campaigns and sites. We have offices in other countries so it's important certain features and services work, and we always find it useful to have a service that helps us do this remotely.
  • It works! Some other services claim they do, but I often find limitations which makes them useless.
  • It has a Mobile VPN, again something not all the others do.
  • It's safe and secure, and that is very important when dealing with "not so trusting" locations.
  • Perhaps have a checkbox to remember password. Since I use long random passwords and a password manager I never remember the password and always have to do a run around to get it.
  • Maybe a debugger for when it's not working properly. I have had [issues] before where a country made all sites not work.
For my role, it makes testing from different geo locations a lot easier and so I don't need to use shady web services or other non-trusted applications.

It is being used as a global gateway. It is being used across the whole organization. It addresses the business problem that our server is based out of Hong Kong while we are based in Australia.
  • It is safe and secure.
  • Customizable and easy to use.
  • Allows testing that I simply would not be able to do otherwise.
  • Price.
  • Look and feel.
  • Ease of use for a beginner.
[It's] well suited to companies like mine, where we require access in international IPs. If you didn't need this function then it would be of no use to the company.

  • It enables me to surf the internet like a local user, this way I can check that geotargeting is working properly, research new markets, and validate funnels.
  • Sometimes there are error messages when I switch to using my browser without a proxy, but clearing cache & cookies (as they recommend on their site) fixes the problem.
I used to work for this company. I am now using the product as a user in my new business and I see it as a user does. The product has improved tremendously recently. Their infrastructure is great, their support is helpful, and their product has become key to my business for many clients.
