I am really the main person that uses GiveSmart for all its features. I think GiveSmart would work well for people in development/advancement, alumni relations, family outreach, finance, etc. As far as skills that are required, it's extremely helpful if the user is fairly technologically-savvy. It's also helpful to know a design program--I use Canva, which is extremely easy to use. But Adobe Illustrator, In Design, etc. would also work. Database management is a good skill as well, even if on a basic level (like me!). Some knowledge of fundraising is helpful.

I am the administrator that creates events and adds event administrators. I am a parent volunteer and would say that I spend less than 1 hour a week supporting the product. We also have one finance user that runs reports and reconciles payments in the application. That is about 2 hours a week. Everyone else is a volunteer and only uses the application as needed during the event.

We really use only our Development Officer as the principal person that uses GiveSmart. This person is responsible for creating the campaigns, maintaining the data base, reporting and executing the campaigns. This person also designs the look and feel of each campaign, entry of all the items and dealing with the customers when they have an issue. This is typical of a smaller nonprofit.

Because of the limitations in GiveSmart with regards to customization, it is important that at least one person in your organization is savvy about graphic design and perhaps has rudimentary coding experience. With regards specifically to fundraising operations, it's important that someone is capable of working with data and running reports to obtain the information needed for processing gifts that come in via a GiveSmart campaign page so the frontline fundraisers in your organization can access and use that information to effectively steward the organization's donors.
