GoAnywhere can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud. As a VMware-validated product, it also runs in several virtualized environments including VMware, Amazon AWS, and Microsoft Azure. GoAnywhere exchanges batch and ad-hoc file transfers, executes tasks before and/or after transfers, and gives users and partners a secure way to exchange data. The vendor provides MFTaaS deployment to give users an easy way to transfer files while Fortra takes care of the setup, infrastructure management, and backups, all for an expected flat fee.

Move your data anywhere with Go Anywhere!
We use Go Anywhere for a variety of things across the entire organization. We use it as an ETL tool for loading data into the system. We use it to extract data and email spreadsheets to users within the company. We use it to find potential problems in the system and notify users to correct the problem. We also use it to send data to trading partners. It is an extremely versatile product.
- Data extraction: You can pull data from nearly any database and send it to users/partners in a variety of formats.
- Data transformation: Great for massaging data and transforming it to XML, text, spreadsheets, etc.
- Data Integration: An extremely useful tool for moving data between different systems. I have used it to integrate data from Oracle, Netezza, DB2, SQL Server, and even Interbase.
- There's no real drag and drop functionality as seen in Datastage or SSIS.
- There's no way to track data lineage.
- The scheduler is a kind of hard to use.
- Database access

- Data transformation
- GA has made life easier for our employees. Many processes that used to take a lot of time are now automated or semi-automated using GA.
- GA has helped our IT team be far more productive. It would take weeks to put together code that we can do in GA in a day or less.
GoAnywhere versus SSIS was an easy decision. SSIS works great for SQL Server and that's about it. Our primary database is DB2 and it is a real pain to use SSIS for this. Go Anywhere versus Datastage is tougher. DataStage is a far more comprehensive package. However, GA is far less expensive and far easier to use.
