Internal reporting platform. Over 600 users on a daily basis across a wide range of subject matter, from revenue to website traffic, client contracts, product activity etc. We have multiple active workspaces with many dashboards that are used extensively
Helps us monitor and manage contract delivery/fulfillment as well has "health" of our various products and websites.
Provides supporting information for our sales team for new sales, cross sales, upsells and renewals of our subscription products
  • Ease of use when onboarding new users
  • Easy to build new dashboards (classic version)
  • performance for highly used reporting objects
  • would be nice to be able to add the same filter to a multi-tab dashboard once instead of having to do it for each tab; tedious and time consuming
  • Variable use is kind of clunky and would like to be able to hide/show easier
  • The newer insight based dashboard method does not have the flexibility classic does
I think GoodData is probably most well suited to companies or divisions that don't have a dedicated data team and where the admins of the system don't have a lot of technical expertise. I think it's less suited for companies that have highly complex data models and end use needs.
Some of their recommendations like limiting to 8 filters for a dashboard is ridiculous. We regularly use up to 20 because the demands of our business require it. I also feel like the developers should be attempting to use their product themselves for real use cases. I think they would have better insight to how some things can be clunky or frustrating.

  • the platform has allowed us to deliver complex, multi-faceted dashboards to end users fairly quickly.
  • Adding to an existing model, can be more time consuming than preferred but overall has allowed us to provide a significant number of reports across a wide variety of subject matter, user roles, and use cases
  • The speed to get up and running has been great, much of our initial reporting from initial deployment 8 years ago is still stable and running smoothly with small maintenance requirements.
  • The platform has been able to handle our transition from on prem databases to cloud sourced and allowed loading the data to the same elements from both to satisfy the business needs.
It depends on your role too. For just end user, I would rate it higher, as getting in and using the dashboards, is pretty easy and intuitive. I give the lower rating from an Admin/Author perspective. There are some aspects of admin that are very easy and others that are just frustrating because they seem silly that they haven't addressed some of the clunky items. As an Author, for the most part it's pretty easy to use and get a something up and running but some things - like building metrics and the fact that they have their own "language" that you need to learn, can be challenging and not easy to pick up if you're marketing to less technical people. From an overall perspective, the product is pretty easy to use. But like with any any Application it has it quirks.
it was within a few weeks we were able to start delivering reports. We transitioned off another BI platform so some effort involved on determining what we should and should not migrate. We did have some highly customized reporting initially that we engaged the professional services team to aid getting us up and running with ingesting data from Google Analytics and getting it to accurately report for a specific product we sell. In parallel, we also worked through a completely separate subject matter and got that workspace up and running with some initial reporting within the first six weeks of purchase. We were able to get three additional workspaces up an going within the first six months, with some highly complex models and robust end user dashboards
I was involved in the decision making but not final decision maker. Ease of implementation for GoodData vs Cognos (used for 15 years in multiple companies). I think Tableau's visualizations are better, but there is much that just can't be done in Tableau that GoodData handles really well, like complex data models, sourcing from multiple platforms, performance, data volume. There are features I miss having from Cognos in GoodData, but modeling is easier in GoodData. Initially I wasn't sure how the RLOAP would play out vs the OLAP, but GoodData is easier to scale I think in that sense and you don't have to keep rebuilding a physical data cube. It took a little getting used to and definitely there are things I think they could do better, but as a platform we've used for the last 8 years, it has served us well.
Support team has been highly responsive and helpful from our first initial deployment to present day. They engage and work with us. know when to escalate for more challenging problems. They also follow up. Overall have had a very good experience with support
Actually not sure what is meant here. We did purchase on demand professional services hours for the first few years of our deployment but weren't really using them in the last few so we no longer do that.
Yes
We have reported multiple bugs and they have all been resolved mostly timely. I was pleased with how they kept us informed of the progress of resolution. Some were more complex to resolve.
there have been multiple occasions over the last eight years that I have felt like the technicians helping us went above and beyond to help us resolve the issue. In general, our support experience is timely and they are very responsive.

We use GoodData via our project management platform[,] Mavenlink. It's integrated into the platform and serves our project reporting needs.
[GoodData] handles all project management reporting.
  • [GoodData] has good documentation with plenty of native and user-created examples
  • This may be due to how GoodData is integrated into Mavenlink (our PM tool) but data is only refreshed every half hour, so pulling data in real-time is not possible.
GoodData is not a replacement for a more robust reporting engine like SQL[.]
  • GoodData allows us to quickly and easily see reporting data and is easy to learn for non-developers. The platform which we use it through has limitations [that] prevent it from being the robust platform we need to pull comprehensive data in [the] way a more robust reporting engine would allow.
GoodData is intuitive and easy to learn but could be more robust.
It took up about a month to get a good number of useful reports spun up.
GoodData has plenty of good documentation. The front end is exposed to us through Mavenlink, a PM platform [that] requires a Mavenlink-build reporting "dictionary" which explains how the various metrics and attributes are configured.
We only use GoodData through the Mavenlink platform. All reporting in Mavenlink is powered by GoodData.
Not sure whether this is a restriction on GoodData or the platform through which we access GoodData, but new data can only be pulled every half-hour, so it's impossible to get data in [real-time]. Not being able to join database tables is a pretty big drawback.
We use GoodData through a project management tool (Mavenlink). As such, the information schema and interface through which we interact with GoodData is built and administered by Mavenlink, and the support we receive to build reports is through Mavenlink. That said, the online documentation available for GoodData for setup, creating custom metrics and dashboards has all been sufficient and generally helpful.
We did not purchase premium support as we have GoodData support through Mavenlink, a third party which administers and already provides support for GoodData.
Unlike some other data visualization and reporting tools, GoodData provides a wealth of online documentation (with examples) that has come in handy many times. If you like to be able to self-help and troubleshoot, you're likely to find their documentation to be quite helpful once you know where to look and search.

GoodData was implemented within our organization to be able to measure what type of questions and requests our customers had and in which ways we could implement changes and improvements on our product and processes to guarantee customer satisfaction and drive up conversion rates. Additionally, we found new ways to use GoodData to balance our staffing and recognize variables in our rush hours and times of greater occupancy based on customer incoming flow.
GoodData addresses all sorts of issues for our business. We implemented it as a way to report on agent quality and process churn. We also used it to measure the need for changes to our processes and products in order to improve customer satisfaction but also drive up conversion rates and capitalize on revenue. It allowed us to exploit new revenue streams at the same time we optimized revenue opportunities for different markets based on price flexibility and demand studies.
  • Reporting on consumer trends and satisfaction.
  • Data analysis on process implementation and acceptance.
  • Measurable reports on products' price flexibility and areas of opportunity.
  • Availability of tutorials on how to create and configure data and reports.
  • Ease of understanding the meaning of each metric.
  • Frequency of report updates.
We loved the ease of implementing GoodData to measure quantitative aspects of our operation which allowed us to better plan our staffing without sacrificing support experience. Even if it was hard to achieve the best results when it came to qualitative data which needed some extra analysis or different input on our end.
  • ROI improvement through better staffing.
  • [Excellent] results for growing the team.
  • Conversion rates increase.
  • Improvement of customer satisfaction.
While it takes some time to get used to the way in which reporting is created, once you are set up it is not hard to scale on your reporting. It may be hard to regain momentum if new reports are not created regularly. However, the existing reporting is comprehensive enough.
It took about a month for us to be able to understand how to better use the product and implement it in the best way possible to obtain results and measurements which were actionable from an operational standpoint. But once reporting and metrics were set up, the product runs by itself making it super simple for implementation on larger scales and distribution to the teams in need of the information.
The ability to share reports with members of our organization in a scheduled manner without the need to go in and pull the reports manually when needed and their ability to access the reports outside of the scheduled times helped liberate time formerly employed in the distribution and analysis of reporting.
We did not integrate GoodData with other tools.
This does not really apply to our case.
The fast and comprehensive responses we got from GoodData regarding the doubts we had experienced while starting to use the products and metrics were of great help in ensuring the metrics we were obtaining were accurate to what we wanted to know about our customers' experience and our product areas of opportunity.
We did not feel a need to purchase premium support as the standard support we received from GoodData was sufficient to solve the problems or clear the doubts we had at the time we started using the products.
No
Ramping up at the start of our efforts to improve our team's KPIs was necessary and we did not have much time to get the results we wanted or to setup the tools we needed. GoodData's team was a key player in learning about the differences between each metric and for us to understand what each metric was telling us.

We are using GoodData as a visualization and analytics tool to allow our clients to gather valuable information across a number of disparate data sources.
  • Provides easy linking of disparate data sources that typically would be very difficult to analyze in any meaningful way.
  • Ease of design. You don't have to have extensive knowledge of the product to be able to design attractive and powerful reports, dashboards, etc.
  • Easy to integrate into custom applications. Whether it be i-framing or white label, GoodData provides an easy solution for integrating dashboards into your applications.
  • Limited customization options for report/dashboards design. You are kind of locked in to their chart color options, placement of certain element (i.e. chart legend), etc.
  • No intuitive way to handle fiscal year calendars. A custom solution needs to be built in order to handle variable fiscal calendars.
  • Learning MAQL programming language is necessary to be able to use the product meaningfully.
GoodData is appropriate for any organizations struggling with bridging gaps between multiple disparate data sources. Using GoodData provides those organizations all the tools necessary to build value added insights for both internal and external customers. It would be less appropriate for those wanting to build highly customizable reports features as there's not a lot of freedom in design.

  • SQL Server Reporting Services
SQL Server Reporting Services is great for building reports and informational tools for an organization using shared and/or relational data sources. Due to the nature of our business, we needed the ability to tie together multiple non-shared or relational data sources. GoodData provides all the necessary back-end and front-end tools in order to meet those needs.
  • Salesforce
  • Excel
  • Microsoft SQL Server
We use GoodData bricks to schedule and pull data from a variety of data sources and services. The process is streamlined, especially with the help of their professional services team. I would say on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being extremely easy), integration with our required data sources and services would be an 8.
  • REST
  • GSuite
  • Zendesk
To my knowledge, GoodData supports integration into all of these systems. We just haven't had the need or taken the next steps to integrate. We look forward to working on these integrations in the near future as our experience with other integrations has been successful.
  • File import/export
  • Single Signon
  • ETL tools
The only reason I would give it a rating of an 8 over a 9 or 10 would be the need for some additional help from their professional services to get the most out of the integrations. I think we could have achieved them on our own, but it's really worth the time savings and effort to work with their dedicated team on a successful integration.
Depending on the experience and knowledge of your internal development teams, I would highly advise at least getting some consulting from GoodData professional services for any work or integrations you plan to do. I don't think we would have been as successful using the product without it. If you have a team experienced with GoodData, perhaps it's a step you can skip, but for less experienced teams, it's the route to go.
Initially we had limited resources and time to put toward implementing GoodData into our existing systems. By enlisting their professional services team and associated support staff, we were able to get up in running in much less time. There was never an issue getting an experienced support agent involved whenever we were experiencing issues.
Yes, as I indicated in a previous response, we did not have the time or development resources to throw at the initial implementation of the GoodData product. Therefore, we put our trust in their expert staff to get us up and running a fraction of the time it would have taken with our own development staff that hadn't used the product before.
No
Even when we were up and running and our systems were running smoothly with the GoodData product implemented, the support team was very good at maintaining the relationship and following up to see if our needs continued to be met. Through discussions with their professional services and support team, we were able to tap into some additional features that we may not have if the support team wasn't as interested in our success as they were.

  • We helped a technology client of ours evaluate and implement GoodData. Our client was spending several hours each week exporting data from Salesforce and/or manually inputting Salesforce data into spreadsheets to track historical pipeline by region, product and opportunity stage. Our client was also trying to analyze sales stage velocity to understand what the best practice stage duration was for closed won opportunities. Our client also wanted to understand sales rep behavior.
  • GoodData allows our client to track changes in pipeline with detailed graphs and charts. You can analyze across dimensions, including regions, products and stages. You can set indicators, such as sales management targets, to measure performance. You can correlate sales rep behavior (ex. activities) to rep performance (ex. closed-won opps).
  • Integration to Salesforce data was very simple, although it does require a Salesforce user license.
  • This is not a real time data flow. We scheduled an automatic daily refresh from Salesforce to GoodData though.
  • One of the benefits of GoodData is that it snapshots the Salesforce data. Unfortunately, you cannot load historical Salesforce data and expect to take advantage of the "Changes in Pipeline" capabilities day 1. This is not a deficiency of GoodData, as much as I am just trying to set expectations that it will take some time to benefit from these capabilities.
  • Our client is saving at least 6 hours per week from manual data entry and analysis.
  • Improved forecasting.
  • Improved sales rep and opportunity activity analysis.
GoodData provides the metrics/reports that we were told it would provide. It is meeting the client's expectations at a reasonable price point.
10

Salesforce Administrator
  • Our client is using it for sales analysis - across regions, sales reps and products.
  • Our client is using it to answer questions like 1) How is the pipeline progressing through the quarter? 2) Are we likely to meet our numbers based on the current pipeline breakdown? It is challenging within basic Salesforce reporting to monitor changes in the pipeline. GoodData help them understand what happened to the pipeline from the beginning of the month to the end of the month. Answers questions like - Which deals had a closed date that pushed to the following month? What opportunities increased/decreased in value?
  • Helps our client see how opportunities created flow through the different stages and where are the major drop offs. By looking at the created to won conversion rate you get a better understanding of how many new opportunities you will need in the future to meet your targets. Also helps you understand sales velocity.
  • Helps you understand which sales rep activities drive opportunity creation and which close deals. Analyzes which sales activities win deals. Compares specific rep activities levels to averages.
Exporting data from Salesforce into Microsoft Excel. Manual data entry.
Birst, which had comparable functionality. We chose GoodData based on ease-of-use and price.
  • Professional services company
GoodData provided a technical implementation partner. We served as the Salesforce experts and business requirements main point of contact for our client. Our client's controller was involved and also ensured the Exec teams' operational requirements were addressed.
Thorough, professional and on time.

GoodData implementation team was professional and courteous.
Yes. Some admin training would be helpful though.

During the one outage we were clearly communicated to that there was an issue, and that support was working to resolve it. The issue was resolved within an hour.
Each graph/report is defined on the dashboard, which makes it easier to understand what you're analyzing. Another simple example - we changed the standard metric of Region by User to our Region by Account in less than 10 minutes.
We are approximately one month since go-live. There has been one short outage.
Performance on refreshing metrics works well.
  • Salesforce.com
Integration was done using the Salesforce api. It was as simple as setting up a Salesforce user account and then having the implementer use that account to log into Salesforce.
