The. Best. Registrar.

We use Google Domains for all of our URLs. It is both simple to use and easy to manage. That the registration includes privacy protection addresses an often hidden cost that other registrars sneak in. Seeing all of our myriad domains in one place, clarity around renewing, and the ability to sort by various values is also helpful. And the price is reasonable/competitive with other registrars.
  • Includes privacy registration standard
  • Very simple to manage renewals
  • Simple to program redirects, CNAME, etc.
  • Reasonable cost
  • Confidence in reputation of Google
  • For the uninitiated, some more teaching around how to use DNS settings
  • Make it easier to see a payment plan for each domain
After having domain management spread across several registrars, it is such a relief to have everything in one place. And using one clear, simple solution rather than having to figure out a new navigation and approach to different registrars is a relief! That it has a simple to use and understand interface is icing on the cake. I also appreciate how mobile-friendly this app is! Can’t think of another registrar I can say that about. And if you use Google Office for your business, this becomes a no-brainer.
  • Time-saving
  • Single stop for all my business needs (Google Office integration)
  • Fast and easy changes possible
  • Mobile friendly for on-the-go business
Google Domains feels like a dedicated domain registrar, despite including many optional services. Too many others feel schizophrenic about their identities. I prefer to manage our domains in an easy-to-access app that is constantly reliable. The simplicity of management and user-friendliness cannot be overstated. Who had the time (or desire!) to manage business domains? We have just completed moving all our domains to Google.
Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), Zoom
When on desktop or mobile, the minimalist design and functionality of Google Domains is welcome. Because we use Google Workplace, the integration is simple. Management is fast and easy, and it offers on-the-go ease. Google is very consistent in its user interfaces and usability, so there’s no wasted time in a new learning curve. And the price is right!
  • Manage renewals
  • Change redirects
  • Keep track of all domains in one place
Yes
The mobile interface is awesome. It is almost easier than desktop. Google’s consistent minimalist design really works well here. It is fast, accessible, and simple.

It's used for all domain registrations. Instead of using a myriad of other registrars like DreamHost, Gandi, or any of the others, everything is registered through Google Domains. It has a nice interface and integrates well with other Google products, which we make pretty heavy use of.
  • Finding alternative domains.
  • Nice overview of domains and their status
  • Clear expiration labels
  • Cheaper for some TLD's like .io
  • Provide exclusive TLD's
If you're registering a domain name, chances are Google Domains is all you need. Unless you need a specific TLD that Google doesn't have the ability to sell, you'll be able to register .com, .net, .io, .org and many other TLD's. Especially well suited if you're already using Google for other things. If you're unsure of Google's ability to adhere to the "don't be evil" phrase, you may want to stay away from Google Domains.
  • .io domains are a bit more expensive with Google Domains than they are at Gandi.net.
  • In general, prices are very competitive.
DreamHost's registrations are tightly coupled with their other services, none of which we use. It's overkill for just domain registration. GoDaddy is also overkill for the same reason as DreamHost.

Gandi.net is a fair comparison and is probably slightly cheaper. However, having everything under one Google account is very attractive. Ultimately, it's the reason I use Google Domains instead of Gandi.net.

Basic DNS and domain name knowledge.
  • Registering customer domains
  • Registering product domains
  • None really
  • Drop previous registrars and transfer existing domains to Google Domains
Unless the product goes away, I'll continue using it.
  • Seeing when a domain expires.
  • Forwarding to existing domains
  • Importing existing DNS records from current DNS host would be super-sweet.
Yes, but I don't use it
It uses Google's Material Design and is just beautiful to work with. It's a breeze to use.
