Google Hangouts is a communication platform that includes messaging, voice, VoIP, and video call capabilities. This platform is part of Google’s G Suite offering and integrates with applications such as Gmail and Google+. Pricing for G Suite plans range from $5-$25 per user per month.https://media.trustradius.com/product-logos/FW/BA/WDUTHVBLRTQX.pngCome Hangout With Google HangoutsGoogle Hangouts provides strong audio over the internet, for free. It is easy to connect on the go as well with their integrated mobile app. Since everything is linked to your Google Account, it is easy to quickly to integrate into a business that already utilizes the Google platform to maintain its online contact services. In addition to high-quality audio, Google Hangouts also provides good video chat and messaging functionality that can also be used on mobile devices.,High-quality audio. High-quality video. Integration of messaging. Mobile application. Integration with Google.,Limited controls. No desktop application. Groups can be a bit confusing.,10,Google Hangouts is free to use, so it has an immediate, positive ROI. Google Hangouts can be a quick setup for anyone with a Google account, which saves a lot of time. There is no need to download software. Google Hangouts can be used to communicate beyond the Google platform, which provides a lot of extra usefulness.,Skype,10,Dropbox, Slack, GitHubAmazing productHangouts is a great communication tool. All of us in the organization use it. It is very fast, easy to use, works on any device, and best of all, is free. We communicate internally via Hangouts because even as a video conference provider, it works better than Skype and other alternatives. Audio and video quality is better than on other platforms.,Audio and video quality is very good, better than the competition. It works great on any device. It integrates perfectly with the rest of Google's suite of products.,You can't edit or delete a chat after it has been sent. That's a feature they should implement. The interphase on the email can be improved. It's easy to miss incoming messages. It does not have a desktop software.,8,It's free, so very ROI positive. It has allowed people to work remotely, also improving office maintenance costs.,Skype and Slack,6,Slack, SkypeHangouts is a nice IM\calling option for collaborating outside an organizational structureHangouts is used primarily to interact when collaborating on documents/files in Google Drive. Although Google Drive has built-in chat and commenting capabilities, it's nice to be able to have more of a record, and to communicate outside of the documents we're currently working in. This is especially nice since it's integrated with Google.,Hangouts makes it easy to transition between chatting, calling, etc. Before the demise of Google+, it was beautifully integrated with that platform. Hangouts keeps a nice record of your chats that can be accessed easily from within Gmail or other Google platforms.,Hangouts sometimes doesn't alert me to a new chat or invite, especially from people not already in my Google contacts. There's not much to complain about, it mostly just works the way it should!,9,Hangouts has provided an avenue for IM and calling outside of the organizational structure. Hangouts has also streamlined our collaborative efforts, especially when using Google products.,Zoom, Skype for Business (formerly Lync) and Microsoft Teams,9Convenient chat and video conferencing! We use Google Hangouts daily as a chat tool, and occasionally for videoconferencing. It's especially useful for videoconferencing on mobile devices, cross-platform. It's nice as a chat system, because it's right in the email, so you don't need to log into a separate program or website to use it. I've almost always been impressed with the speed, accessibility, and navigation.,Ease of use: very simple to use. Cross-platform: works in browsers and apps for all mobile devices. Integrated functionality: videoconferencing, image insertion, etc.,Missed notifications: Sometimes I'll get a chat message, but won't get a notification. The send will either be oddly delayed, or it just won't register as a new message. Invitations: In order to chat with someone new, you need to send them an "invitation." I wish it was a bit more automatic that you could chat with anyone at your organization. File sharing: I wish you could send files, not just photos.,10,I work remotely, so use Hangouts more than many others at the organization in order to have conversations with coworkers that otherwise would likely be in person. It's a great substitute, I think!,Zoom and Jabber,10,Zoom, Jabber,9Google Hangouts is a great productGoogle Hangouts is being used by our organization to mainly host internal meetings and have quick calls with colleagues from other departments or managers to ask questions, host 1:1's and at times will be used as a back up to GoToMeeting if GoToMeeting is down or not working. It solves the issue of having to message back and forth and being able to hop on a quick call to sync internally.,Very reliable software which is extremely important for getting things done! Easy to use and intuitive to set up. Integrates with Google Calendar very well and makes it easy to sync internally.,Google Hangouts would be great if it had call analytics. Google Hangouts seems a bit complicated if you are running a multiple person meeting. Google Hangouts doesn't notify me at time when people are calling in, having this solved would be a benefit to me.,9,Google Hangouts is essential for me when speaking with satellite offices since it saves so much time. Google Hangouts lets me get the answers to questions I need way faster than instant messaging and adds to the value of each call due to screen share. Google Hangouts does not have the same functionality as my other video conferencing software which makes me have to go back and forth between software.,GoToMeeting,8,GoToMeeting, ZoomHands down best videocall appWe use it regularly for our sales team meetings. We have a big group (about 20-30 people) and many of them are located many states away from our HQ. Communications run very fluid and with very low latency. It also has superior audio quality compared to other similar apps. It has a great tool for desktop/slideshow sharing.,It's totally free. You can run it in almost any platform. It's very easy to set up and use, with a clean and intuitive interface.,It doesn't have Chromecast support for video streaming. It requires a stable and relatively high bandwidth. There are minor bugs from time to time,10,Enhanced communications with customers. Better strategy deployments within our team. It's free, so it doesn't require any money investment.,10,10,Skype,Pipedrive, NetSuite, AcceloA nice addition to G AppsGoogle Hangouts is one communication tool that I use for my business. It allows me to stay in touch with clients and vendors and to easily complete video calls or conference calls with multiple people. Hangouts is used both through the desktop client as well as the mobile app. It is an easy choice for my business, as it is included in the Google apps package.,Mobile communication through the iOS and android app is solid when you are on the go. Video conferencing with multiple people is easy and has the technology to record and focus on the person speaking. Online chat is at the core of the product and it performs this well within the organization.,Google’s communication initiative as a whole could use some work and clarity. It can be very confusing to understand what product Google is focusing on, as Hangouts started as a service for everyone, but has since moved to a professional app. It is a little unnerving wondering if they will keep it around for the long term. The desktop client is attached to chrome as a Web app, which seems to work all right, but forces the organization to use Chrome.,7,It’s included in Google apps, which the company would have regardless of hangouts, so it is an added benefit for no added cost. Because it is part of Google apps, it allows us to forgo spending additional for another chat client or video conferencing solution.,8,6,Skype for Business (formerly Lync)One tool for all the platforms and an entire world of users to HangoutIt's being used as "the communication tool" for the entire company, an Argentinian software company. There are no phones, only Gsuite tools, and Hangouts is used to chat, call, video call and not only with company employees but also with external participants as well, because most people have already a Google account and probably even experience with the tool itself, making the whole process easier.,One tool, many uses: chat, audio call, video call, interact with Meet or any other Google tool, perfectly integrated. One tool, any platform. Cell phone? No problem. Tablet? No problem. PC? No problem. No matter what OS you're using, you can Hangout. One tool, many people to connect: almost everybody I know has a Google account, or even the other way around, I think I don´t know anybody without a Google account, so they're all a potential Hangouts contacts.,You may find a low video quality comparing with other tools and pointing specifically to video calls. It's not the lightest chat tool, it's phone app is rather slow. The way it handles group chats is not my favorite.,8,Hangouts provides a cost-transparent worldwide communication tool, having no hidden cost issues no matter where you are or need to be around the globe, as long as you have an internet connection. This allows having employees around the world, working in remote offices or from their homes, with the same experience as someone on the company's headquarters. The interaction with all mobile tools makes it part of a very productive suite and helps improve and maintain productivity across all staff. It helped to reduce the deployment time for any new facility or office location in nearly 75%, due to its ease of use when it comes to set up the communication infrastructure.,8,6,Skype and Skype for Business (formerly Lync),Cisco Webex Teams (formerly Cisco Spark), Webex MeetingsConvenient Solution for Video ConferencingWe used Google Hangouts as a way to communicate with a group on users across several campuses as a method of enhancing project management calls. Alternatives such as conference calls or webinar formats didn't allow for the level of meaningful conversation that we wanted. Hangouts gave us a way to see the other people on the call and check their reactions in real time and allowed anyone to show through the video feed items that may be hard to describe with only voice.,Video Interaction. Being able to see each other face to face prevented those awkward situations we're people are all trying to talk at once or when you are not sure who is speaking. High quality video. The video feeds were clear enough to see graphs, charts, or text that participants wanted to share with the group. Ease of use. Almost everyone has a Google account anymore so getting people on the Hangouts were never an issue. Voice quality. You can easily tell who the person is that is speaking and if they have left their mic on and are picking up background noise from a certain user. I never had trouble clearly hearing other users.,With many people on a Hangout on a mobile screen I felt that things were harder to track and manage. If people are thoughtful it is easier. I found it difficult to track the chat and the video at the same time. If people were typing into the chat window it wasn't obvious what that conversation was while a Hangout was occurring. Google Meet has taken over some of the space the Hangouts previously has done for us. If you are looking at alternatives it does have some similar features and is a robust product.,10,With small meetings you can use the product for free completely eliminating the need to purchase a solution. It allows people to meet quickly, informally, and get problems solved without the need to spin up a conference bridge or goto meeting or some of those other solutions that tend to be managed by people that want advanced notice. Google Hangouts isn't going to replace your entire office phone system. It just isn't that product so depending on your business object be aware of its limitations.,10,10,Cisco Webex Calling and Jabber,Basecamp, Webex Meetings, MS SharePointGoogle Hangouts for video conferencing is a good choiceIt is used throughout for quick video conferencing. Most employees have Google accounts and it's easy to start up and get people connected. Mostly used for working with people working remotely when an email isn't sufficient.,Good quality in meetings Show camera view of all participants and you can easily identify who is speaking. Tracks history of calls which is nice for record-keeping. Screen sharing capabilities help getting your points across.,UI to get a call going is a little confusing via the web browser. Not really the popular choice which is why we mostly use Zoom or go-to-meeting.,7,Cheap solution for web conferencing for small businesses.,Zoom and GoToMeeting,10Basic instant messaging and video calling for freeI'm using Google Hangouts daily to communicate with employees I hire. I've been using previous old Google "Talk" version as well. Very easy and intuitive. Most of the times or maybe even always, the person I hire has gmail account and can message with me immediately. This is a big deal that I don't need to require installing anything new. Time saving. Chat archives can be easily searched, images can be sent as well, but the problem is that other files cannot be sent through it. The latter can create issues and can be irritating but you can always use the same e-mail account to send those other files. Additionally I like that I can immediately share the screen or make a video call. No problems here. Also mobile app is very useful.,Uses gmail account which most people have. No need to install anything new (unless you want a mobile app). Video conferencing with multiple people works well and allows screen sharing. Instant messaging is fast and reliable. Sound notifications are not irritating.,For me missing file sending is a missing functionality that should be implemented. Only images can be sent. Sending images using the desktop gmail website interface could also be improved, takes too long to add the image. More privacy settings would be useful.,8,Google Hangouts is free. For starting businesses or those who want to reduce costs it's a good way to communicate instead of using paid project management software. Saves a lot of time because employees I hire usually already used it or have Google account. I don't need to instruct them how to get it and how to use it.,Skype,8,Google Drive, Dropbox, Adobe PhotoshopEasy and Convenient!I use Google Hangouts daily in my organization. We have a lot of communications regarding students that do not need to go out via email—late arrivals, pickup info, etc. Teachers use Google Hangouts to message each other information that may be needed to assist a child. We also use google hangouts as a messaging service to request extra help in the classroom.,Inputting locations within the message. Lets a user know if the message was read Inputs multimedia easily,Impossible to use in China without a VPN (we do a lot of teaching with Chinese students). Google has announced that it will be disabling the Hangouts platform by a certain date, so it will be unusable. If you are logged into different Gmails, each Gmail has its own page. This can get cumbersome when switching between multiple personal, professional, and work emails.,8,Google Hangouts comes free with the Gmail we have for our company. It is an easy product to integrate.,Zoom and Skype,10,PowerSchool Student Information SystemLightweight and easy to useWe use Hangouts for quick and easy calls without the implementation hassle. Audio only and video calls are easy, especially on mobile. Love this little tool!,Mobile calls. Audio-only calls. Video calls. Lite operation.,The ability to call people without a Google account would be great. Dedicated call room URL.,9,It's free! Connected the team.,Skype for Business (formerly Lync), Microsoft Teams and Slack,9,Typeform, Pipedrive, Drip from Leadpages, EZ Texting, Evernote, OneNoteGoogle Hangouts - is a great way to communicate in any organization.Google hangouts is being used by our sales and office teams. Using google hangouts has made work easier for communications reasons, instead of always texting or calling the other person, therefore freeing time from the phone.,Making communication easier within our company. Freeing time from texting, to typing and not using the phone as much as we were.,Icons within the hangouts could be more business related.,10,Google hangouts have had a positive impact on our business and we are able to respond without having to use email/text/phone and it is quick and easy.,,10,Google provided exceptional support when we set up our hangouts on our computers and phones.Google Hangouts ReviewGoogle Hangouts is used across multiple departments to communicate with those that wish to have their phone numbers kept private due to security purposes and only requires an email. As mentioned, the app helps address problems by having multiple departments across the city communicate with each other.,No need for a phone number to communicate with members of the organization User-friendly on contacting friends, coworkers, and family through means of calling or messaging. Works well along with other Google app products! Like, Google Voice for example.,When the app is open and loaded, I'd prefer if the app could open to the most recent message received. Sometimes difficult to sync contacts into google hangouts. A feature I would personally like to see added is the use of sending voice messages rather than calling or having to type out a message.,8,Hangouts has helped the departments converse about ongoing problems and having them addressed instantly. Hangouts has helped the departments bring attention to problems more effectively. A lot of people in the departments don't like to give out their phone number for good reasons in this profession. Hangouts helps those individuals to communicate along with the rest of the colleagues. The app makes work very time efficient with how well it integrates along with other apps rather than juggling back and forth.,,WhatsUp Gold, Facebook for Business, Skype for Business, Viber,No,Product Features,I would have more experience and look into more what was needed that I did not expect back then.,Yes,8,No,There was never a time that Google was exceptional with their support due to that I never needed Google's support. The product never really had any issues with me. I only request that Google introduces some features that would make this a more versatile app. There have been some random problems with adding on contacts but never an issue to report about.

Google Hangouts works great and does not require a lot of work to troubleshoot. Everything is simple and easy to use. Google provides all of the tools that one requires to utilize Google Hangouts and any information can be found in the built-in help tools. There is also a forum for users to report issues and typically, Google responds well and will try to work out any issues.

As with the rest of Google´s product suite, their support team is limited. Usually, it's a standard response you will get for any issue. However, I never had to call support for Hangouts, as it is a program that works really well and I have never encountered an issue I couldn't solve online.

There is not much support with Google Hangouts as when your dealing with Google its unlikely that you are going to receive one on one support from their rep, however the platform is so reliable and easy to use that there is really no training or customer success that is needed when implementing at your company.

We've only experienced some minor bugs a couple of years ago regarding audio quality (the voice used to sound a little "robot-like") so we contacted customer support after it repeated 2 or 3 times, and they guided us until the problem was solved and we never had that problem again. It was the only situation in which we needed assistance, and it was great.

Google has never been great at support. They are getting better and provide priority support to Google apps users. Overall, the products are intuitive enough that a great deal of support is not needed. Since using the product, I have not required support for Hangouts.

My experience has not been the greatest one of all, but it has been pretty good anyway. I have found a lot of documentation online regarding features, interactions or technical problems and it's resolutions or workarounds, but not always had the human Technical Assistance Center experience I would like to have for a company's communications platform.

I never had to reach out for Google's support with the product but I am still rating it a 10 because so much of the product is intuitive and the rest can be found in easily accessible documentation. In the entirety of my use of the product it never crashed and I have yet to experience an outage.

Every time I contacted Google's support they immediately answer on the chat without waiting. Email communication replies are the same or next day as well. If no progress is made they will send update anyway, that things are being handled.
Usually any issue reported is being resolved, they won't leave me on my own and can even grant bonus space on their disk or similar things related to software that gives problems.
