The skills required are not significant. Some basic IT skills are likely enough to get the basics done. It doesn't require a high level of skills, but understanding a little networking will certainly help. Being able to take time to read the instructions and help will go a long way. Otherwise most of the skills required are basic IT skills and training skills.

GoTo Connect is very user friendly, even for new users. We have in-house phones, and one of our staff even uses their new web app to make phone calls and check voicemails from home. GoTo Connect is very plug and go in its ease for use.

We have 1 support tech for all of our IT needs. He is not full time IT, mainly does day to day operations. The IT needs for GoTo is so minimal. Very basic knowledge is all that’s needed.

I have basic IT skills for managing an office. I have taken classes on the evolution of technology and have shadowed our outside IT person when they have implemented our systems. The skills also require someone somewhat detailed-oriented and patient with the end users.

I want to be clear, we do not have any dedicated people for supporting GoToConnect. We have four people in IT that help with GoToConnect, but they all have other jobs and taking care of GoToConnect is a small part of what they do because it really doesn't take a lot of time to manage the system. It is very easy to train logical, technical folks to manage this system. As long as you have a basic understanding of phones, you can be easily trained to manage the GoToConnect PBX.
