The software has been effective in accurately reflecting time worked on projects for clients, as well as paying hourly contractors. Additionally, Harvest has been praised by users for its ability to show clients how much time is used to complete projects and requests, aiding in project estimation and determining how much to charge clients. Harvest also facilitates invoicing, keeping all financial reporting in one accessible location and providing complete insight into the profitability of each project by tracking billable and non-billable time and expenses. It further supports businesses in evaluating the health of their operations through comprehensive reports. With its simple and effective invoicing feature, Harvest minimizes fees compared to other methods and helps organizations track time and expenses efficiently, analyze productivity, assess profitability, and plan for a successful future with accurate quotes for future projects. By providing insights into individual team members' time and project finances, Harvest aids in measuring outcomes, matching time spent on projects, making informed decisions, managing clients and individual projects, recording billable and non-billable hours, tracking work across departments, improving billing processes, providing accurate reports on hours spent on projects, replacing rough estimations, importing tracked hours from other software systems, managing digital marketing services, budgeting internal projects, ensuring transparency in time allocation within small teams or agencies, capturing timesheets for staff members, applying different rates to specific tasks, increasing accuracy in tracking client work throughout the entire organization, tracking service hours for each client and account to uphold agreements, streamlining time tracking and expense management for better project budgeting and reporting purposes. Overall, users appreciate Harvest's user-friendly interface and intuitive design that make time tracking and expense management easy and effective.

Simplicity and Intuitiveness: Many users have praised Harvest for its simple and intuitive user interface, which has made the onboarding process smooth and minimized the learning curve. They appreciate how easy it is to navigate and set up tasks in the software.

Flexible Time Tracking: The availability of multiple ways to track time in Harvest has been highly valued by users. With options to run timers constantly or add all their time at the end of the day, users can choose a method that suits their working style. This flexibility accommodates different preferences and enhances productivity.

Accurate Time Tracking: Users find the start-stop functionality of timers in Harvest effortless and accurate. They have mentioned that this feature allows them to track their time with precision, ensuring that billable hours are recorded properly. The ability to round up to the next 6 minutes also simplifies the time tracking process for billing purposes.

Limited Integration with Other Software: Some users have expressed frustration with Harvest's limited integration capabilities, particularly when it comes to project management systems like Basecamp and Asana. They feel that the lack of seamless integration hinders their workflow and makes it difficult to manage projects efficiently.

Difficulty in Finding Specific Items: Several reviewers have mentioned that they find it challenging to locate specific items within Harvest's interface. They feel that the organization of tabs for time, projects, team, and reports is not always clear, making it time-consuming to find what they need.

Lack of Robust Accounting Functionality: A number of users have commented on Harvest's lack of robust accounting functionality. They feel that while the software excels in time tracking and invoicing, it falls short when it comes to more advanced accounting features needed by growing companies.

Users commonly recommend the following actions when using Harvest:

Firstly, they suggest trying out the free trial of Harvest to see if it fits their workspace needs. They also recommend integrating Harvest with project management tools like Trello or Asana to minimize manual data entry.

Secondly, reviewers advise exploring Harvest thoroughly before implementing it for small businesses. They also recommend considering other time tracking software like Toggl and TSheets to make an informed decision.

Lastly, users highly recommend Harvest for any-size team to track time and analyze data effectively. They find it helpful for invoicing clients and suggest utilizing the Reports section for quick invoice generation. Additionally, they recommend creating a quick how-to guide for employees to ensure easy adoption of Harvest's features.

These recommendations highlight the importance of trying out the free trial, exploring the software fully, and considering integration with project management tools. Users also emphasize the benefits of using Harvest for tracking time, analyzing data, and managing invoices efficiently.

Upwork works great at tracking time for projects, however it doesn't allow you to track your own time.
ADP is the opposite to Upwork, you can track personal time, but there's nothing to track for projects or other clients.
Overall, Harvest is better in every way.

Everhour is just very rudimentary and ugly. It did the okay for time tracking and basic reports — but it wasn’t very intuitive and could’ve been a lot more elegant. You couldn’t edit other users time or make corrections it was just a data pull and that was it.

Open air is even worse. it’s like something out of 1985. Extremely ugly and not at all easy to use. It fulfilled the basic requirement of tracking time and we did not use it for anything else. When they raised the price to eight grand a year, despite our limited use of it’s functionality. We quickly dropped them.

Harvest is significantly better than Jira. I think Jira's is not originally intended to be used as a time logging/management system, but we had been previously using it as that. It was much clunkier, and many employees had a difficult time using it as a user interface goes.

Harvest is much more user friendly and has simplified the daily time-logging process for everyone in our office

Harvest tends to be a little bit more expensive than other options such as Clockify (depending on how many users you have) but it's more robust and includes additional features that, depending on your business, may be necessary. It's very reliable, user-friendly, and easy to set up which is a great bonus. The apps are great.

Harvest Chrome extension is not as refined as Toggl but it integrates expenses which is a lot better. The reporting element of it is better than Toggl as well. With Toggl you don't have to confirm submission on a week by week basis which can be a little irritating. Toggle does a better job on reminding you if you should be recording time or not but overall use of both is very good. Intuitively Toggl feels a little more responsive to start and stop timing but there is not much in it.

They both had simple, easy to use interfaces but Harvest cannot even come close in completeness and usefulness and PROPER ACCESS capabilities, plus easy import and export of critical financial data when compared to Generations Homecare System.
I did not select Harvest. It was chosen and implemented before I worked here.

Like Asana, Harvest is great for project management, though it definitely skews more toward the time tracking rather than the step by step process. Some of our team members write out their to-do list as project tasks in Havest and start the tracker when they're ready to get to work - that way, they mark off a task while accounting for their time.

I currently use Daptiv PPM by Changepoint for time tracking and it is a much less enjoyable experience than using Harvest. It does allow some more customization but the user interface is much worse and it is difficult to search and organize based on projects. We used Harvest to track individual tasks within a project but Daptiv is just tracking overall time for each project.

FreshBooks is a great program and I used to use it before my needs changed and I needed different features. When I switched, Harvest had made the most progress versus other platforms of making time tracking easy. This is important for accuracy versus having team members forget to use the clock. Harvest's timer was available on all devices and also as a browser plugin. This is easier for quickly starting/stopping the clock.

We already had Harvest implemented at my company, but the setup was lacking good structure. It was questioned if it was the appropriate tool and I determined that it just needed to be revamped to properly support the business. My recommendation is to set up Harvest however you would like to see billing done.

We have used multiple products that are similar. The main one we were using previously is called DeskTime. However, our team felt like DeskTime was a little bit creepy and didn't feel like we fully trusted them and their time. Thankfully Asana was able to integrate with Harvest, but they didn't have time tracking built in.

The Harvest UI was much simpler. The others felt like they had too much going on and setting up and maintaining was confusing. Harvest's interface is very straightforward and easy enough for a non-techie to set up for their business. Toggl was the closest competitor and looked a bit more modern but when I began using it, I found it was limiting in some areas that Harvest stood out.

We tried QuickBooks Online for project invoices and Harvest far exceeds its ability. QuickBooks did not allow us to easily track time or create easy to use line-item estimates. We have not been able to find a service that can offer everything Harvest can help with. Harvest helps us manage our business.

I honestly cannot remember the name of the last time tracking system I used, but I personally prefer Harvest. The tracking software I used before forced users to schedule their services with a timestamp and felt that it was very difficult to maintain this system honestly. I prefer the simple UI in Harvest. Additionally, Harvest is significantly faster, requiring less time for bookkeeping.

We tested against several other projects in a similar category, and although some solutions were cheaper, non performed as well as Harvest. Time entry and invoice creation is a tedious task for many professionals who bill time, and Harvest takes away a lot of the pain via their beautiful UI and well-thought out processes.

Basecamp, we used to have Basecamp. But Harvest+Asana made our decision making easier. We tried with Wrike but the user interface is not aseasy as is looks. Harvest has our problems resolved by now with simple steps that make this tool work for us. Other tools that could help to make this one better could be something with resources allocation.

After using Harvest for some time, I thought I would try Toggl. It might have been a lack of experience with the interface, but it didn't seem as intuitive to understand billing, and at the time they didn't have a companion desktop app.
