What is Heimdal Patch and Asset Management?

Heimdal Patch and Asset Management automates vulnerability management, as an automatic software updater that allows the user to deploy the latest feature and security patches for any Microsoft, 3rd party, and proprietary software.

The solution aims to save the user's time and resources by updating software on the spot, from anywhere in the world and according to any schedule. It provides visibility and granular control over software, with its IT asset inventory management capabilities.

This is made possible by Heimdal's patented Infinity Management add-on, a tool that provides a singular overview of all company-owned software assets. With it, users can draw detailed reports, review the status of machines, see what patches or updates are missing, create new patching groups, suppress deployment per group or AD.

Heimdal Patch and Asset Management is a valuable tool for users who want to maintain an up-to-date list of software assets across all their endpoints. Users rely on the product's 3rd party software module to keep all supported software patched with the latest updates, reducing the risk of vulnerabilities being exploited. This not only helps ensure operating systems are fully patched but also contributes to maintaining accreditation with ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials. Customers recommend Heimdal to others, recognizing patch management as a key pain point for IT departments and service desks. By automating the update process for third-party software on all machines, Heimdal saves users a significant amount of time. It provides anti-malware protection and keeps end-point software and Windows OS up to date, working alongside other AV products as an essential component in today's threat landscape. While lacking USB management and web access permissions, the product focuses on the critical areas of software and OS updates, providing email notifications for quick reaction times. Additionally, it acts as a secondary barrier against phishing emails by detecting or blocking malicious websites.

Comprehensive Software Asset List: Several users have praised the software for maintaining a comprehensive list of software assets. This feature has been appreciated by multiple reviewers for ensuring that all devices receive updates and remain secure.

Excellent Ability to Add Applications: Reviewers have found the ability to add applications to the patching regime to be excellent. Some users have specifically highlighted this feature as a positive aspect of the software.

Convenient Single Pane of Glass Portal: The single pane of glass portal, which provides access to all modules, has been described as convenient and user-friendly by multiple reviewers. This feature allows users to easily navigate through different functionalities within the software.

Difficult to force updates on individual endpoints: Some users have found it challenging to manually initiate updates on specific endpoints, suggesting that the process works better when it is automated.

Limited support for third-party software: Several reviewers expressed disappointment with the restricted range of supported third-party software. They recommended expanding the license to allow updates for unsupported 3rd party software through uploaded .msi files.

Lack of comprehensive overview in asset management feature: Users mentioned that the asset management feature does not provide a complete overview of all currently installed applications. This limitation makes it difficult for administrators to determine whether an application is currently installed or uninstalled without relying on guesswork regarding the correct time frame.
