I use Hivebrite to support an online global community of practice. This Hivebrite platform allows our 2,000+ members to connect with each other, learn critical skills in their field, and lead in uncertain circumstances.
  • Connection - the member directory and group features are especially strong in this area.
  • Customizable - the Hivebrite platform can be tailored for several different audiences with different purposes.
  • Customer Service - The Hivebrite support team offer top-notch support!
  • LMS - It would be great if native learning management system functions could be added to the platform.
  • 1:1 Conversations - the private messaging feature could definitely be improved upon.
  • Language integration - being able to translate comments and conversations on the platform would be helpful to our global audience.
Hivebrite is a great platform if you and your team do not want to manage a custom-built website - which can be both time-consuming and costly.
  • Groups.
  • News Module.
  • Media Center.
  • Email Campaigns.
  • The Hivebrite platform has taken our community from 0 to 2000+.

We use Hivebrite to host an overarching community for a niche demographic so as help improve their ability to network, find and attend virtual and in-person events, connect with mentors or mentees, search or post-career opportunities, and more. We also host industry and brand-specific communities within the platform to support stronger communication and engagement within those subsets.
  • Fast responding customer service with enthusiastic willingness to solve your tech problems.
  • Continual upgrades to platform's UX/UI.
  • Comprehensive support resources and articles.
  • Hivebrite crowdsources feature requests from existing customers, then adds those improvements into the most expensive Enterprise package to force upselling. Lower tier customers get their hopes up, only to find out the feature is still out of reach.
  • There are random and bizarre upgrades and these often cause other problems in the system.
  • If your feature request is not requested by others, it will never happen.
PRO: Easily the most beautiful community-building platform out there and flexible with pricing.
CON: They routinely make feature upgrades and then add those to the Enterprise package only. There are no in-between add-on options if you desperately need that one feature but do not require the Enterprise package as a whole.
  • UX/ UI.
  • Mobile app.
  • Events module.
  • Projects module.
  • 100% of users agree the platform is attractive, but when upgrades occur that change the platform without warning, users always see it and will complain. Because we are not the developer and they don't understand or know this, they wonder why we would release updates with "side effects."
  • For some reason, invitation emails to users who complete the initial signup process end up in spam. Easily 50% do not proceed and outreach has shown they are not receiving the invitation email in their inbox.
  • Being able to build communities within our platform is a primary ROI for us.
Mighty Networks is another platform that is insanely cheap but does not have any upgrade options.
