Users have found that the software solves various problems related to healthcare management. It allows for easy data entry of electronic health records, known as EHR, and provides visibility of changes made to patient referrals, helping users efficiently manage patient care. The software also helps users easily find notes related to patient care, ensuring that important information is readily accessible. However, some users have reported frustration and dissatisfaction with the software due to its poor layout, which negatively impacts time management. Additionally, malfunctions in the software can disrupt workflow and support is slow to respond, causing further inconvenience for users.

Despite these challenges, the software has proven helpful in staff retention and improving service metrics. It captures outcomes better than previous EHR systems, leading to an increase in Star Rating and ensuring compliance with healthcare requirements during audits. Once users become familiar with it, they have been able to efficiently manage multiple tasks, saving time and streamlining record keeping. The software also supports communication with family members and loved ones, enhancing the overall patient experience. However, there are mixed opinions about its effectiveness in improving patient care, and limited help and support resources are available.

Financially, the software helps with revenue management and episode tracking. It assists in patient payment management by offering multiple payment options for caregivers but financial losses have also been reported by some users. Trainers and customer support have generally received positive feedback from users, providing assistance when needed. Overall, the software provides up-to-date information in one place for easy access, enabling clinicians to see patients faster and facilitating home health services. It has been instrumental in digitizing patient records across multiple offices and ensuring confidentiality. However, it lacks a phone app and integration with common medical software such as Epic, which may be a limitation for some users.

Helpful Search Methods: Many users have found the various methods of searching for a patient to be helpful, as it allows them to quickly find the desired patient. Whether it's by name, ID number, or other criteria, the search functionality within the software streamlines the process and saves valuable time.

Convenient Patient Information Display: Several reviewers appreciate that important patient information is readily accessible on one screen. This feature eliminates the need to navigate through multiple tabs or windows to gather relevant details. With all pertinent information conveniently displayed in a single view, users can easily identify patients and access their records without any hassle.

Multiple Functions and Workflows: A number of customers praise the software for its versatility and range of functions. From managing medical records to scheduling appointments, this comprehensive solution caters to various needs within healthcare settings. Additionally, users find the workflows within the software highly beneficial in assigning roles and tasks to team members efficiently. The intuitive workflow system ensures smooth collaboration and helps streamline processes across different departments or teams.

Difficult Mobile Navigation: Many users have found it challenging to navigate the software on a mobile device, resulting in frustration and a steep learning curve. For example, some reviewers have mentioned that certain features are not easily accessible or intuitive on smaller screens, making it difficult to perform essential tasks efficiently.

Glitches and Syncing Issues: Several reviewers have reported experiencing glitches, including syncing issues and a confusing supply list. These technical problems have hindered their ability to use the software effectively. Some users have described instances where data does not sync properly between devices, leading to discrepancies in information and potential errors in patient care.

Complicated Plan of Care Updates: Users express frustration with updating and changing the plan of care, as well as difficulty updating the aide care plan. This has caused inefficiencies and extra work for users trying to manage patient care effectively. Reviewers mention scenarios where updating the plan of care requires navigating through multiple screens or entering redundant information, which detracts from valuable face-to-face interaction time with patients.

Users of the software have made several recommendations based on their experiences. The three most common recommendations are as follows:

Consider updating the design: Several users have mentioned that they feel the design of the software is outdated and could benefit from an update. They suggest a more modern and intuitive interface that would improve the overall user experience.

Explore other software options: Some users recommend considering other software options in addition to Homecare Homebase. They suggest researching and comparing different products to find the one that best meets their specific needs and requirements.

Use it for Medicare or managed care patients: Many users recommend using Homecare Homebase for managing Medicare or managed care patients. They have found the software to be reliable and effective in handling the specific needs of these patients. However, some users caution that it may not be as well-suited for long-term care patients.

Overall, users advise having a clear understanding of desired features and being prepared to provide immediate feedback to ensure that the software aligns with their needs. Additionally, they highlight the software's ease of communication with field staff as a positive aspect.

Detailed Hospice Charting

Our Hospice nurses use it to chart. It does appear to be time-consuming, as they find themselves entering the same information many times over. The more time they spend charting, the less time they have for patient care. There are just too many fields to populate. Our home health services use it for orders, referrals, and authorizations. In that aspect, it works well and we are all happy. I have to log in and authorize orders, which only takes me three steps, I find it pretty efficient. The downside is, I do not believe they have a phone app. Other medical software does, and employees are able to send secure messages and alerts pop up. With this software, I have to remember to log in as there are no reminders and it does not interface with the most common medical software - Epic. I wish they would create an app.
  • Signing physician orders is very simple, self explanatory and quick.
  • It allows you to track referrals and orders very well and easily.
  • It works well on tablets.
  • Assessment of patients takes just too long and there are just too many fields to be populated.
  • There are different ways to navigate, to arrive at the same information of interest. One has to spend time familiarizing oneself with different options. And in the end, you may not use half of what you learned.
  • The calendar does not show holidays. One can mistakenly schedule appointments and then you have to call, apologize, and cancel. It would be nice if the holidays were shown, just like on the phone calendars.
It works well on an outpatient basis, and for services such as hospice, home PT/OT, and home wound care. It does not work on an inpatient basis and does not work well with patients who have limited ability to communicate or to stay awake, as the assessments have too much redundant information. A healthcare worker can really overstay their welcome in a patient's home while filling out all the required fields, and that can really annoy the patient and family. Families do notice when we spend more time with the technology rather than the patient.
  • So far our billing and revenue has increased compared to the prior 3 years.
  • On the other hand, nurses and other staff do make more overtime due to the increased charting time.
  • The software itself can get costly as each add-on is rather expensive. We have found that just the basic is not enough for our institution. Overall though, it has increased revenue as it allows correct billing which is needed for the insurers.
I have not used other softwares of this nature.
It does everything that we need it to do. I just wish it was not as time-consuming.
They explain well, however, it often takes more than 1 day for them to get back to us.
