Our organization has been using ProLiant DL servers for about a decade now. Over the years, we had a chance to try other products from several other competitors and we always seem to come back to Proliant, not only due to high reliability but also for the excellent support provided by HPE. One of the best tools of ProLiant is the built-in iLO that allows you to control this amazing hardware remotely as if you were right in front of it.

  • Reliability
  • Longevity and years of service they provide
  • Price, but I guess you pay for what you get.
  • New Smart Start could be a bit faster.
HPE Proliant DL, although maybe a bit more applicable to medium to large organizations, can also be very well suited to a small business that has a need for a reliable server for any sort of function, storage, web, or internal—they are very versatile, and again, offer great performance. Might be a bit overkill for smaller businesses with basic needs.
  • Amazing run time allowing for uptimes of 99.9%+.
  • Reduced downtime that caused revenue loss.
In my personal opinion, Proliant DL is much better than comparable hardware from other manufacturers. Although the price tag might (or might not be higher) you get what you pay for. The couple times we decided to invest in comparable hardware from two other manufacturers, it ended up costing us thousands in lost revenue due to 2 or 3 major failures that brought us down 1 or 2 days each time.
In over a decade, not once had we had a bad call with HPE support, not only were they have extremely qualified engineers but the speed in answering and addressing users is bar none. The same can not be said about support from other competitors in our experience over the years.
HPE makes it very easy to use almost all its products and ProLiant DL line is not different in any way. To the point, almost anyone with some minimal knowledge can deploy a Proliant, and again because reliability is great, there are not many issues to deal with, which in exchange, makes usability top notch.
Every functional are in the business.
