Perfect storage system which provides multiple functionalities and very easy for all users. The training on how to use Huawei OceanStor is effective and great short learning curve and even reliable technical help on the first time, they help on easy implementation of Huawei OceanStor. The software allows easy production of reliable data insights and easy to manage important business information and protect client information and the capacity offered is enough.

Easy tools for the user to set and flexibility of the functionalities is amazing and Huawei OceanStor can migrate a group of different data from other third parties platforms easily and generation of excellent data analytics through Huawei OceanStor is also easy and profitable. The environment on which the user can manage multiple data through Huawei OceanStor is incredible.

Huawei OceanStor Dorado5000 V3 is used as the main SAN storage device of our virtual servers on VMware, serving the whole of our organization. The device has a very stable working structure and we have been using it for years without having to perform any maintenance or operation after installation. It's much faster than its competitors in terms of performance thanks to all flash NVME technology. In addition, it is much more affordable than its competitors.
  • Deduplication and compression ratios are awesome

  • It has a much more affordable price compared to devices of the same class with its cost

  • In thin provisioned disk structure, I would like it to give an estimated date when the full capacity will be reached according to the usage status

We connect the Huawei OceanStor SAN device directly to the Huawei Fushion Servers, without using the SAN Switch, with 16 HBA cards in MESH topology. Each of the two controllers has four 16 HBA inputs under the name of SMART IO. In addition, there are two 8 GB extension ports.

VMware virtual machines are running on hosts. Our ERP applications, critical DBs, and business applications are running in these. Again, we use another SAN under a different cluster in the disaster recovery section.

All Flash NVMe SSD technology is currently at the top of this business. Its disk structure is hundreds of times faster than traditional mechanical SAS systems, but also compared to today's SSD systems!

It has a much more affordable price than the devices of the same class.

In addition to these, we had a lot of hesitation when we decided to give up the competitor brand and buy a product that works reliably and smoothly, but we researched and learned very well. We made the right choice.

We removed the IBM Storwize v5000 SAN device and put the Huawei OceanStor Dorado 5000v3 All Flash NVMe SSD in the production environment.

It is fast; the manufacturer responds to all the questions we ask with all the technical team. The price was a huge advantage because it was really affordable and it was much faster.
Obviously, it was not easy to remove the competing brand product and replace it with Huawei OceanStor servers, routers, and SAN devices because the production environment is the most risky. Here we hesitated a lot. What I would change would be avoiding wasting time if it were today. After purchasing the product, we attended the training, which lasted for days, which the engineers who installed the product received free of charge.

Huawei OceanStor is being used within the data centre to run mission-critical workloads i.e. SAP ECC6 database and application servers. The system being deployed in the data centre SAN environment is the Huawei OceanStor Dorado V3 all-flash storage system, which has been configured with Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) disks for maximum performance. Since this is an all-flash system, it addresses performance, reliability, and availability features.
  • The Huawei OceanStor Dorado All Flash NVMe storage array provides maximum performance.
  • The OceanStor Dorado is ideally suited for use with databases, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Virtual Machines, and file server environments.
  • The capital and maintenance costs were very competitive for a similar storage system at other storage vendors.
  • The licensing needs to be explained better. There is not much information about how the licensing works for the OceanStor, and what I found was a vague summary and not clearly explained. This became a problem when we deployed the system and realized we needed an additional migration license.
I would recommend the Huawei OceanStor, especially the Dorado All-Flash NVMe product line. There are many features and installation is quite simple, and it becomes even simpler if you deploy Huawei OceanStor DJ within your environment.

The Huawei OceanStor product line is very broad and they offer a wide range of storage systems from entry-level for the small enterprise to high-end storage systems for those demanding workloads typically required at medium to large enterprises. Huawei OceanStor is very reliable with many software features at competitive costs when compared to other storage systems. Huawei OceanStor can easily integrate within the data centre as their system supports many operating systems, hypervisors, SAN switches etc. Another important point to note is that Huawei has made it known that they spend a substantial amount of their revenue in R&D and that is confirmed in the reliability of their products.
When purchasing support for your Huawei OceanStor system, there are two support options offered by Huawei (i.e. Hi-Care and Co-Care). Huawei Hi-Care service is when Huawei responds to your technical requests for remote troubleshooting and advance hardware replacement in the shortest possible time. Hi-Care provides onsite technical support to help you maintain a more efficient and stable network environment and improve network productivity. Whereas, Huawei Co-Care service is a collaborative solution delivered by Huawei certified partners. Depending on the capability of your Huawei support partners, I would recommend Hi-Care for mission-critical environments since this ensures Huawei takes responsibility for meeting the support SLAs. If you have very capable Huawei support partners, then Co-care could be a more cost-effective support option.
