Review of HxGN EAM
HxGN Enterprise Asset Management was implemented to help with improving the effectiveness of the organization’s asset management solution. Specifically how we used the product was for managing equipment; some of these assets could be located at various buildings. Prior to implementing this solution many of the asset management was quite decentralized and thus tracking and reporting at a consolidated level was difficult. For example, some of the asset lists were kept using local spreadsheets and logs. Trying to get a view of everything, especially if assets were moved from one location to another was difficult. HxGN EAM provided a practical solution that enables better and real-time reporting. This help with optimizing operations.
- Real-time reporting; this was an improvement on the stand-along Microsoft Excel-based reports
- Integrates with Oracle; linking to an enterprise system help to link with the ledger
- Generally user friendly; the user interface and navigation is relatively intuitive to use
- Faster loading of pages (sometimes slow/laggy); for example, when logging into the page we found a lot of times the page would render for quite a while before loading
- Better interface for mobile users; when opening the product from a mobile phone it was often difficult to navigate so there were times we just waited to get to a desktop
- Integration with current system; for example, the opportunity to link assets to ledger
- Easy for users to use; the product needed to be intuitive and easy for all levels for example from technical clerks to upper management
- Good reporting; consolidated reporting to get a view of all assets across many sites
- Helps with more efficient decision-making and tracking; for example, closer and accurate tracking is an early indication if an asset needs to be replaced
- Organizes inventory of assets; tracking the assets across multiple sites and buildings and giving an easier system to move and manage a full picture view
- AssetWorks Enterprise Asset Management (EAM System) and IBM Maximo
HxGN EAM is relatively comparable. Much of the software solutions for large enterprise businesses offer relatively comparable features and functionality. For example, integration with our organization's asset management strategy. The set-up of the asset management is organization-specific depending on the type of assets. At our organization, it was primarily equipment and buildings. HxGN EAM stacked up well against the other major solutions such as SAP EAM, IBM Maximo, etc. It may be best to include it as part of the options assessed for a solution to consider.

Easy to configure, quick to implement, and packed with built-in standard functionality!
We are using EAM throughout the whole organization as a central database for all fixed assets. It is used both by technical groups as well as administration and finance (for financial depreciation). All interventions on our installations are traced in EAM, and for outsourced contracts, we are using EAM as the central tool for managing such contracts based on SLAs and KPIs defined in EAM.
Spare parts located in storerooms are also managed with EAM, and material lists and pick tickets are used to prepare parts for technical interventions.
Spare parts located in storerooms are also managed with EAM, and material lists and pick tickets are used to prepare parts for technical interventions.
- EAM is highly configurable and can be used to manage virtually any type of assets, or for more complex technical installations.
- It is really simple and quick to configure, even for non-developers, such as business analysts and administrative staff.
- The user interfaces are relatively intuitive (for being an enterprise application) and also possible to simplify and configure for specific users groups.
- The planning functionality for Projects and Work Orders can be improved. There is, for example, no Gantt view for Work Orders available in the standard tool.
- The implementation/configuration is fast and straightforward, which has been important for us when using it to replace multiple legacy systems.
- We have also been able to easily replace old paper-based processes with EAM.
The ease of configuration, scalability, and built-in functionality were the main reasons for us to go with EAM.
Our company recently started using Infor EAM software to better track our inventory and work orders in our maintenance department. We also use Infor EAM software to generate reports on our inventory and work orders to present to our executive team for review.
- Easy form customization
- Cloud based for simple access
- Option to create multiple access levels
- The update schedule takes some getting used to
- Possible to accidentally lock yourself out of your own account (if admin)
- Increased efficiency
- Accurate reporting
- Simple to track
Infor EAM is much better than the alternates that I've used in the past. We selected Infor EAM for their customization features and their phenomenal support team.

Infor EAM can work for you
We provide Infor EAM support to multiple clients in the manufacturing and fleet industries. We also use Infor EAM internally to log in and track progress of support incidents from our clients. Additionally, we provide implementation and consulting services for Infor EAM.
- Easy to customize for specific needs of our clients.
- Allows system administrators to develop custom reports with Cognos and make these reports accessible to all users, or specific user groups.
- Easy to apply custom business rules using Flex SQL.
- User friendly even to a beginner. I always say if a user can navigate an MS Office product, they can navigate Infor EAM.
- Allow system administrators to manipulate canned Infor EAM reports.
- Remove menus that were used in earlier versions so they don't get confused for use in current versions.
- Infor EAM works as well as the data contained. Management has to be dedicated to a change in culture and everyone must buy into this.
- Infor EAM is very useful in exposing shoddy maintenance practices, or poor reaction to required maintenance. A company cannot be afraid to let the system work for them, and take the necessary actions to improve maintenance practices to prolong the life of their investments.
- The only negative, is as mentioned above, Infor has the capabilities with KPIs and custom reports to easily identify unacceptable maintenance practices.
My organization uses EAM in a specialized way (product support versus maintenance). But we consult with and support several Fortune 1000 companies that use EAM for asset management. It is primarily used by the maintenance departments of the various corporations (manufacturing, building services, etc.).
- Highly configurable and customizable throughout the entire system. User defined fields, custom data grids, custom links, the list goes on and on.
- Strong Work Management program. The work order process can absolutely be configured to meet the client's process.
- Mobile offering is fantastic. Use tablets (Android or iOS) to complete corrective work orders, PM work orders and even issue parts to work orders. These devices make it simple to take pictures and add them to the work order.
- KPI's quickly display the most important data and In-boxes make it easy for users to get to their key processes quickly.
- Infor Enterprise Asset Management doesn't step the user through the process easily. The user must already know the process and how to step through it. But I still don't see this as a very big issue.
- Would like a separate mobile program to handle the parts side of the equation (receiving, put-up, counting, etc.).
- The mobile program could do a better job of handling fleet assets. Currently, a lot of configuration and customization is used to get the mobile program to work appropriately in a fleet environment.
- Increased maintenance labor utilization
- Decreased part inventory cost by showing parts that currently are used
- Easily keeps track of equipment cost
