This IBM system allows easy data transfer across many different platforms, and its API functionality is on top. The security for the multiple data processed via IBM API Connect is the best, and the access control and document management features are more responsive. Its interface is very friendly, and it is easy to learn the basic usability of IBM API Connect.

There are two main reasons for choosing IBM over others. 1) Pricing 2) The conversation during the sales stage. The team at IBM understood our requirements and acted as consultants instead of sales people. They genuinely focused on providing a solution to our pain points which reflected during the implementation and continued after go-live in the form of technical support.

IBM APIC far and away blows the other two systems I've used out of the water. There really isn't any comparison, in my humble opinion. Ease of use, security, versioning, efficiency, accountability are basically 'forced' by APIC, which allows less burden on the users themselves.

IBM API Connect and Apigee are both robust API management platforms. IBM API Connect was selected for its strong integration capabilities, hybrid cloud deployment options, and comprehensive analytics. It aligns well with organizations seeking flexibility and control over their API ecosystems, especially when dealing with complex integration scenarios across diverse environments.

  • Kong Gateway Community (Open Source)
API Connect was far more mature, far quicker than Kong. It was clear a few years ago that API Connect features such as Applications and Product groupings were the way forward as Kong was at the time lacking these but planning to replicate them in their roadmaps

This is more of a combinatory set of features where it isn't a question of either or, but rather what and how when. Choosing the right tool and implementation format for the problem at hand - and having the option to select tooling from the full set in the toolbox.

IBM API Connect is very mature and offers lot of flexibility for enterprise requirements, highlighted in the following key areas:
  1. Consumer management
  2. Workflow on product lifecycle
  3. Intuitive UI-based development options
  4. Superior runtime with DataPower
  5. Easier code migration with single YAML deployment
  6. Rich analytics options like built-in dashboards
  7. Product architecture is flexible to accommodate hybrid or multi cloud designs easily
Above all, IBM API Connect has great execution capability. The product road map, especially with recent versions to adopt latest technologies and patterns, makes it a future-proof choice. Also IBM has a great ecosystem of supporting software like Cloud Pak, OpenShift, and RHEL.

As we have already have deep work relationship with IBM, when it comes to API gateway, we start looking at the API service IBM provides. And that is when we found out IBM API connect. It is very reliable and convenient tool to manage our API. It works with our cloud agnostic strategy.

The power of IBM APIC is much more in contrast to Apigee or any other product of the same domain because it is having DataPower as the backbone which allows for easy integrating with almost any platform, providing the highest level of security, handling millions of transactions at wire speed and also capable of transforming the message content as and when required. Secondly, it acts as a unified portal for all the services and we can manage all the API's from a single place and make changes. We can look for any services here, it acts as a repository for all the organization services and we can assign specific audience to specific services.
