The API consumption via IBM API Connect is perfect, and it guarantees data protection throughout the entire operation. The data integrity management level on IBM API Connect is lovely. Data pulling through a secure environment offered by IBM API Connect is another significant benefit of this IBM product, and the data visualization ability is beneficial.

It supports multiple types of authentication which makes it very reliable and secure. So it becomes more tough to break into your system. Also it is updated frequently to guard us from any new threats.

Security is a critical requirement for our business as we serve clients across the world. The authorization using OAuth, OpenID, etc helped us build the trust with our clients. The encrypted gateways ensured the multi layer data protection, which is of great importance considering our product offerings are around finance.

Having secure, readily available access to vital records makes it much simpler to go about our daily lives. Working with REST services or microservices hosted on application servers makes it much simpler to monitor and alter access control. IBM APIC's ability to protect data has been shown to be significantly more robust than first anticipated.

One of the biggest downfalls of most systems is security. IBM APIC has far exceeded expectations around security by affording multiple layers of security. It takes much of the burden off of the user to have to deal with and APIC takes care of it.

IBM API Connect configuration provides great control of security control on the access of API and flows. Managing and updating the access control is a lot easier as compared to traditional REST services or microservices hosted on application servers.

Very effective and for a while the best solution you can get.

However, over time, there have been other products that are lean, lot less expensive and provide better/easier way to manage API lifecycle. Open source products also allow the user community to expand, making it easier to get resources that are well versed with API management tool. IBM products are becoming esoteric and unnecessarily limits the talent pool.

As mentioned in several of the previous answers, security is key to building trust with partners as well as customers across the board. The flexibility and security offered through this product and framework give us the confidence to invite external development, autonomous development teams, and application-based teams injecting features into the core platform API catalogue.

The IBM API gateway enables secure cloud to on-premises communication, enforces our own security policies and controls access rights for clients. The overall features and capabilities to customize are excellent. However debugging the API gateway can be tricky and overall stability is sometimes an issue.

In my opinion, it's easier to enforce OAuth Token introspect. In many parts there are missing features where we needed to develop functionality our self to fulfill the features we needed in an enterprise context.
