It is an extremely easy platform to manipulate and productively develop. The IBM API Connect features and dashboard are very easy to access, and the navigation strategy is also cost-effective. IBM API Connect offers some capabilities that simplify the entire development operations while providing the most accurate and profitable data results, and the development project management is amazing.

It is quite complex and time consuming to set it up initially. But after the initial setup it is very easy to manage specially since everything can be accessed from a single interface, it makes very easy to operate and use.

It is easy to get a hang of the basic functionality in no amount of time. The complete interface is quite intuitive for a developer and overall friendly. Additionally, the support is really good and the support team at IBM are product champions and consultants who helped us at every stage to ensure a faster adoption.

In static scenarios when there are little API changes or developer participation, it is possible that the vast functionality of the platform is superfluous. The members of our team have become so proficient with the platform that they are now able to instruct new users. Important data must be readily accessible and comprehensible to all employees at all times.

Documentation is dry and devoid of any pictures with loads of words and jargon endemic to IBM. This makes it very hard to adopt and step learning curve. Use pictures, not words, flow/sequence/state diagrams instead of wordy thesis to describe things. Not sure why IBM has this issue with their documentation - it is as if we’re still living in the times where “man pages” need to spit out just words on a green screen terminal. Hope IBM gets to use this feedback - use generative AI to fix and update documentation.

IBM API Connect may be less appropriate for small-scale projects with minimal API management requirements, where simpler and more cost-effective solutions suffice. Organizations lacking the necessary technical expertise or resources to harness its full potential may face implementation challenges. In static environments with infrequent API changes or limited developer engagement, the platform's comprehensive features may be excessive for the task at hand.

Lots of nifty built in features to facilitate automation, CI/CD pipelines, developer autonomy and freedom. You can tell that it is a platform built by developers for developers, where few compromises have been allowed. Together with documentation and online support, it's easy to get started and accelerate development in parallel.

The web based user interface makes it easy to interact with the product to either view API analytics. configuration of the solution and management of APIs.

The command line interface enables a DevOps approach for publishing and managing APIs.

From my experience, you need a high skill level to operate the management platform itself. Also, I feel that developers have too much freedom and there is no clear way to inform things like minimum security requirements.
