Great Reporting Software

The different security levels are very important and easy to use. It's nice to be able to use groups to give access to whole content areas to a very large amount of people. We have thousands of reports and managing the permissions of each one individually would be a nightmare. It's nice that you can manage individual permissions for each dashboard if needed.

data governance and controls are essential and often the key differentiator between Cognos Analytics and desktop tools like Power BI and Tableau for example, which can result in multiple data versions. Cognos Analytics ensure there is one trusted source of data within the organization

Data quality is very important ant to our organization. With reporting, we can quickly identify issues or improvements. There is always a chance someone may enter data incorrectly and by the use of reports, we can identify those incorrect entries quickly. Additionally, reporting business financials to stockholders is important we are receiving precise numbers.

Super safe. It integrates with many platforms and software products that businesses already use, like Salesforce, these integrations help us connect, access, and unify data across sources. It can also be combined into a dynamic view so that several different data sources can be compared at once.

Securing data is the best part. It's only one reporting source for all users, but you can many ways to limit data visibility for users and groups. For example company lead can see every data aspect, area controllers can see only their own region, the project manager can see their projects, etc. Many ways and customization options for data security.

Governance is extremely important to my client. The reports are grouped into different sections, access to which is defined through the users' AD groups. Individual reports are designed to filter differently based on who the user is and even present different aggregation levels based on user permissions.

TM1 security is used for row-level security, while object and query structure security is handled through IBM Cognos Analytics with Watson.

Data governance control is the most important security measure in any enterprise organization. When you have multiple departments or multiple users with different designations then we would like to make sure that only the person who is authorized to view the data should be able to view the data. This level of data governance can be applied down to the table level inside a report inside a particular folder in IBM Cognos.

The security controls that IBM Cognos provides are key for easier deployment. It allows for easier report deployment as well. It allows the users to only see what they are allowed to see and we don't have to give them full access to everything. All in all, the security options in IBM Cognos allow us to go as detailed or as high level as we need.

Security of the reports and platform is critical when rolling out any reporting solution. With Cognos seamlessly integrating with Active Directory and having Single Signon, security can be handled in one location and modified accordingly as part of the joiners, movers and leavers process.

Implementing row level security into the framework models provides confidence that when users are building their own reports, they are seeing the data that they're authorised to see.

This functionality definitely helps us to understand the data and perform data governance controls but it requires manual effort to check the data for monitoring. However, using python to do the data transformation in the first place, we need to spend much more time but save lots of time by leaving integration time for the monitoring.

Well, IBM Cognos Analytics includes an advanced security feature to protect your sensitive and valuable data, most importantly when we store them in the cloud. IBM Cognos Analytics comes with a special component called “Cognos Security” to manage user authorization and authentication via third-party security provider services such as LDAP and Active Directory. This security model will be able to protect your external security model within your organization. Apart from that, it’s your responsibility to build a proper user policy for your organization to map users into Groups and Roles. This is going to be the most important factor in creating a better security model to manage your Cognos BI licensing compliance.

The data governance feature is great since we are able to restrict access to users who are not authorized to view certain dashboards. The data quality is assured due to the various data checkpoints that have been created. Previously when we distribute reports through emails this kind of data security could not be established but now due to Cognos's content management feature, we are able to restrict access and secure the dashboards.

Data governance is very important to our company.
Quality of the data depends on the data sources we use in [IBM Cognos Analytics], we have data governance department which help them to manage the purchase order, list of licensed users, it helps them to develop the process to maintain.
We always trust the data which is generated internally regardless of the tools used.

It s very important to make sure that all the users see what they need to see. Fortunately, IBM Cognos Analytics allows you to configure the security in reports, packages, and, in case of having more development experience, develop reports with security prompts.
