IBM® Power® Systems clients who have typically relied upon on-premises-only infrastructure can extend their Power IT resources onto IBM Power Systems Virtual Server to avoid the large capital expense or added risk when migrating essential workloads.

IBM Power Systems Virtual Server are colocated and connected with IBM Cloud®, integrating IBM AIX® and IBM i capabilities. The solution boasts fast, self-service provisioning, flexible management both on premises and off premises, and access to a stack of enterprise IBM Cloud services — with pay-as-you-use billing so users can more easily scale up and out.

  • Reliability - its critical for us in banking to have a 99.99% uptime SLA and IBM Power Virtual Server provides that
  • Virtualization - PowerVM helps us with isolation needs to separate data based on entitlements.

  • Handling highly transactional applications with great performance. Ou applications have thousands of transactions per minute and it almost never feels overwhelming, thanks to the scalability and resource optimization of the cloud.
  • Well thought pay as you go model to get the best out of the compute resources for every cent charged.
  • Advanced resource monitoring via IBM Instana Observability is extremely helpful for automated monitoring, alerting and troubleshooting a wide range of infrastructure issues.
  • Usability and learning efforts required for it can be simplified greatly.
  • Integration support range can be widened from currently limited options. Many of the popular services are still not supported for this cloud.
  • Mobile application/interface has a lot of room for improvement to make it more robust and user friendly.

  • The images and data we process and save through the system are easily retrievable.
  • The images and data we process and save through the system have never been corrupted.
  • Once our process is set for any of the software and systems we interact with through the IBM Power Virtual Server, they require very little, if any, maintenance other than period checkups.
  • Having a wider selection of software to work with would be welcome.
  • Training and education is daunting at first and could be simplified.
  • Much of the automation is wonderful after it is set up but getting started has a steep learning curve.

  • IBM i / AIX web-console is ugly and disconnects randomly, even when using it

  • Too much job queuing on pick hours so we need to wait for our LPAR to shutdown or start

  • Its accuracy and reliability makes it top notch
  • Its services and performance is pretty good
  • Sometimes it may get stuck due to more usage... It's in very rare cases and for a short time only... It's not a drawback but it may cause work disturbance.
