What is IBM Z?
The new IBM z15 delivers performance,
flexibility, availability, protection, and agility to drive
digital transformation. It has changed the footprint of IBM Z
with a 19” frame, that scales from one to four frames depending on the
configuration, enabling significant floor space reduction.
IBM z15 has the commercial data privacy and security enforcement solution, Data Privacy Passports, that provides off-platform access revocation. Choose who accesses data, and when and at what level to revoke their access. One hundred percent of data, at-rest and in-flight, is protected with no performance trade off or application changes. With Fibre Channel Endpoint Security working with the latest DS8900F, achieve total end-to-end protection and authentication.

Best way to process huge data.
- Operational cost is less as number of users can increased.
- Increased the revenue as multiple applications can be run in Zos.
- Overall cost of Z is more compare to open source.
- The IBM Mainframe will pay for itself in a short time frame, you will have TCO results quicker rather than later.
- Provides 100% uptime.
- Can mirror data to a secondary site and bring that site up and then perform maintenance at site A. Very important in today's world.

- Initial setup cost if high on the budget, but considering the logivity of the product its reasonably acceptable to generate a decent ROI on the Z system portfolio.

- Infrastructure downtime is Zero for unplanned outage and even in a planned scenario the downtime is minimal
- Is capable of handling unprecidented spikes in workload without having an outage
- We had evaluated alternate platforms and solutions but this solution is unmatched and even if we ever move, it is for reasons other than the platform capability

Cloud at your premises
- Managing a mainframe is much efficient than managing many small systems. TCO.
- Reliability. The service availability of the applications on the mainframe is incomparably better than the others.
- Business continuity solutions always work on the mainframe. On all Disaster Recovery tests, mainframe did more in a smaller time. Always.

- IBM Z has had a positive effect on ROI. It allows for consolidation of processes in a larger environment, providing cost savings by removing unnecessary servers.
- IBM Z also has the largest computing capacity for large scale work, which speeds up processes and optimizes job streams.
- IBM does release new versions every few years, so support must be considered, along with new acquisition costs.
- Systems do not start with a large pricetag, which is beneficial for IT as they start using this platform at a low cost entry point.

- Our processing is measured by cost per member. The Z platform has returned the best value so far. Other platforms are catching up. I do not have specific numbers to share.

IBM Z and Storage Technology
- Our company has relied on IBM physical back-end tape technology to support multiple Disaster Recovery Exercises on a yearly basis. The physical tape is a cheap technology to perform vaulting exercises. Continuing to explore IBM Replication offerings to have a much quicker and reliable recovery time objective or recovery point objective.
