Good Cloud ETL solution Tool helps in Building Complex Data Pipeline (real time and batch processing both)
Informatica Cloud Service is used in several departments. In upcoming months we will start using it in more departments. We already had datapipeline setup using Python spark and other paid tool. But most department are migrating the data pipeline and creating good ETL model following SCD type 1,2 Load.
We are migrating most of our complex data pipeline to informatica one.
Reason to migrate is for cloud solution ETL. [The] main advantage of cloud ETL [is that] it can be more scalable and cost-effective solution: when we require more storage and more resource we can pay more, so now we can just pay for what we need.
Informatica also has wide user base so even getting the right talent is not an issue for our organization, if someone used Informatica he/she can easily start with Informatica Cloud service. In the future, the Cloud will be excellent solution for resource and cost optimization.

- Building Data pipeline in very easy (mapping and workflow section is highly configurable and mostly with all option)
- Easy debugging mode, you can backtrack and check which transformation has issue
- Easy workflow trigger using shell script, python or control-M
- Cloud base solution is future which will be very helpful for scalable solution
- Our previous solution is pure in house development, which is based on free [solutions]. So Informatica is costly w.r.t freeware.
- Sometimes team architecture is based on AWS so they are not going to switch on Informatica solution

Professional ETL Tool to handle large data
Informatica Intelligent Cloud is an awesome tool that is being used in specific departments of the organization where the data volume is huge. This helps a lot in making the data actionable by the non technical users. Also, this supports Salesforce integration which was the main business purpose and is very cost effective.
- It provides near real time data replication.
- All the transformations are simple and easy to implement.
- It serves the purpose of eliminating the duplicate data and saving a lot of time in batch processes.
- The User Interface can be a bit difficult to get in initial stages.
- Error messages are hard to understand which sometimes takes a lot of time for the resolution
- Cannot Implement complex SQL queries which should be fixed in future release.
Informatica Cloud Services tool is being used in certain departments of the organization. This product has the immense capability to ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) a huge amount of data very easily and also is really helpful for real-time transaction data. We can easily fetch data from multiple sources and store them in a single destination datalake.
- Fairly easy to use multiple databases.
- User Interface is very easy to understand even for a person with non-developer background.
- Seamless updates provided by the company.
- Debugging, scheduling, and monitoring the jobs is very easy in this tool.
- The new features come with limited documentation.
- Implementing a new API is bit complex.
- Sometimes the application freezes.

Leader in ETL tools
Informatica Integration Cloud is being used by my department, which currently processes 100K of data each day. Data is sent to our employees, which helps us to solve customer problems.
- Bulk API is very fast
- Smart lookup to relate reference records
- More descriptive errors

Great analytics and data extract transform load solution
Informatica Cloud is being used as the primary data extract transform and loading software so we can pull data and analyze insights from our digital transformation efforts serving small to mid-sized firms in bringing the power of digital platforms to their businesses. It is helping solve the problem of getting data and making it actionable by non-technical users.
- Extract transform load
- Data processing
- Data pipeline formation
- Integrations

ETL tool at its best
Its being used to transfer data & keep it up to date from SAP to Salesforce for our Sales Reps to make and maintain sales.
- Transfer data between system, volumes are not the issue
- Keeps different system in sync to support sales
- Fredlier front end, with more click and drag functionalities
It is being used by our Integration team. Basically, it is used to solve business problems where integration needs to be done between a legacy system and Salesforce.
- First and foremost is its capability of integration
- Secondly, the transformation is just so simple
- It has everything which you need to start from scratch and deploy in the cloud.
- Incremental jobs can run very slowly on large table updates. Incremental jobs do not work at all for Salesforce.com history tables.
- No real ability to report on what jobs you have set up or the performance of those jobs (failures, number of records copied, etc.).
- It is only available within the user interface and you basically have to copy paste it from the browser if you want the information.

Good for the value
Right now we are still in test phase. It is used for ETL from local server and AWS.
- We like the fact that Informatica Cloud can connect to all on premise and cloud databases with TLS 1.2, which helps to ensure data transfer is secure.
- I especially like the Mapping Designer which is easy to use and does the job efficiently.
- Informatica Cloud's replication allow us to replicate data between load and cloud servers in near real time.
- Coming from the Informatica PowerCenter world, IDE is different so it might take some time to get used to.
- The error information seems less informative than PowerCenter.
- Hopefully the tool can have online patch capability so that we can keep outages to minimum.

Informatica Cloud is an amazing resource for data import automation and duplicate checking
We use Informatica Cloud to help leverage data and reporting in our instance of Salesforce. It is used daily to import new contacts and leads to our instance of Salesforce to allow for better tracking and elimination of duplicates and other data integrity issues. We originally used native Salesforce support for importing but found that Informatica Cloud provided so much more depth and insights.
- Data importing
- Duplicate checking
- Duplicate elimination
- Data tracking
- Data import automation
- The UI can be somewhat difficult to get used to. This recently changed and was made somewhat better, but it is still somewhat difficult for new users to work.
- Some of the duplicate management is hidden or hard to find initially.
- The single Sign-on integration at first can be tricky to navigate if you aren't a Salesforce Admin.
We currently use Informatica Cloud to integrate data between our Oracle financial system, Salesforce.com and our internal transactiton processing system. Being cloud-based, we do not have the added overhead of maintaining our own server infrastructure to implement this solution. Informatica Cloud is a critical part of allowing us to meet both our technical and business requirements.
- Informatica Cloud has a relatively easpy learning curve for new users and developers
- Multiple database sources and targets are easily defined
- Extensive built-in features and functions allow us to define the required mapping for our data needs
- Some of the error messages are cryptic and difficult to discern the meaning and cause of the error
- The ability to use sophisticted and complex SQL is somewhat limited
- Some of the syntax for the built-in data formatting is a little difficult to understand

Great for agile BI teams, complementary to PowerCenter
We use both Informatica Cloud and Informatica Power Center enterprise-wide as our primary ETL tool. It helps manage our internal gateways moving around data from our ERP systems into containers and other tools for extracting into reporting or analytics. Our primary use of the cloud product is to extract data from both our internal systems and our external CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce) into Azure Data Warehouse instances for us to leverage with BI tools and Website personalization tools.
- Once the secure connection is established it’s quite easy to operate and create new jobs. The controls are simple, and we appreciate the fact there are not a lot of complex fine-tunings required. Navigation is also easy, and we enjoy the ability to open multiple tabs in the browser to work on multiple projects.
- The monitoring functionality works well to help track the progress of the jobs, again, without too much complication. In a fast dev environment, speed is essential and we quickly seeing the status/progress of jobs as well as any errors if the jobs fail helps us maintain speed.
- The web interface is a lot easier to interact with than the client/on-prem version. Putting much of the heavy lifting of interacting with the tool onto the shoulders of the browser makes it easier to keep multiple sessions open and get in/out quickly without having to VPN into the office.
- Price is a factor, the charges for each and every connector to various systems can add up, and seem to be annual expenses to account for in budget each year. We switched to just using Cloud between 2 systems so we only have to pay for 2 connectors because the price is pretty high. For other sources we’ve begun building out in Mulesoft to keep the budget in check.
- Access to customer service is not the greatest. When running into problems the first line of defense for cloud is that it is not a Cloud issue and they cannot help. They are correct, of course, but could at least offer some support services to help us track back through permissions and secure agent setup to help identify and fix our issues, not just brush us off.
- Updates to the Cloud product seem to hit without too much communication or follow through. While some of this could be prevented by our internal Administrator, I do think the level of communications from Informatica to the Admin are very thin as well. New features should be broadcast when you log in, and changes should be communicated within the app, and that does not happen with Informatica Cloud.

Informatica Cloud, from a real user.
Informatica cloud is used to connect our numerous Cloud SaaS solutions to our internal and cloud data platforms. It is used exclusively by our Technology department.
- Informatica does a great job partnering with other Cloud solution providers, creating packaged solutions.
- I'd like to see Informatica combine the Informatica Cloud and PowerCenter capabilities.
Informatica Cloud is an application integrated with TargetX SRM and Salesforce.com. It is currently used by the Office of Admission, and eventually the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies as well. Informatica Cloud is used for importing data into our CRM (TargetX) through the use of built-in data mappings.
- Informatica Cloud is a great tool for automating data imports. Raw data files can be scheduled to run at designated times, and using pre-built mappings ensures that the data goes into the system accurately each time.
- It is also a great tool for converting raw data into specific formatting. For example, configuring the mapping so that the first letter of a first, middle or last name is always capitalized.
- Additionally, Informatica Cloud has a built-in field-matching tool so that records that already exist are updated rather than having duplicates created.
- Learning the syntax for formatting the data can be difficult, and some of the functions are not as intuitive as they could be.
- Power Centers are difficult to create on your own. A power center is a tool that converts one file type to another prior to importing the data: for example, changing a .txt. file to a .csv file.
- Making sense of certain error reports can also be challenging. When a file errors and does not import, the system will provide a report so that errors can be fixed. These reports do not always provide straightforward reasons why the file did not import.
Informatica Cloud Data Integration Suite is used by our client for seamlessly integrating data between Infor ERP and Salesforce CRM. Salesforce CRM is used across Organization by the key users of the different business entities. Informatica Cloud Data Integration helps in asynchronous transfer of data from Infor ERP to Salesforce CRM and vice versa. Since it is a cloud based application, a physical server is not required to house the applications. It helps meet the business requirements and is very cost effective.
- Implementation of any integrations with Informatica Cloud Data can be done easily. A consultant with base knowledge about integrations can easily implement.
- It has inbuilt aggregate functions which can be used during mapping source table fields with target table fields.
- Source and Target database connections can be easily configured with minimum no of steps.
- Source data can be easily filtered through by applying conditions.
- It doesn't quite support complex implementations.
- It doesn't support complex SQL Queries.
- Working towards attaching a document to a mail, needs a work around. A shell script has to be written and to be executed.
- Configuring integration for Re-processing of failed records needs proper design of the system.
