Sage Intacct is a cloud-based financial accounting software system with functionalities for small to mid-sized businesses. Sage Intacct delivers an array of core accounting applications such as a general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and order management to any accounting department or finance team. It also supports functionality for built-in dashboards, real time reporting, time and expense management, project accounting, revenue management, and global consolidations for multiple entities.

With an open API structure, Sage Intacct’s accounting solution also provides integration with any CRM, payroll, POS, or ERP system such as Salesforce, and ADP.

We have 2 system integrated with Intacct. Bamboo the HR system push to Intacct the employees records. In addition to Bamboo we have DataBasics for time and expenses. Intacct push to DataBasics employees records and other dimensions. Then we extract the timesheets and expense reports from DataBasics and post them in Intacct.

Both of these applications required customized APIs which is an additional cost. SAP Concur expense reports feed into Time and Expense in Sage Intacct which does not offer ACH payments. With the current state of the world being mostly remote and the US Postal service being extremely slow in mail delivery, this is not an ideal situation. Since Blackbaud CRM does not partner with Sage Intacct, we once again had to use a third-party vendor to assist with the API.

When we look for additional service providers, we look at the Sage Intacct Marketplace first. Having a Marketplace partner eliminates our responsibility of managing the bridge between the companies we integrate with and Sage Intacct. We do not have an internal IT department, so eliminating the management between integrations has been a plus for us. The set up of the integrations was very smooth for all three.
We have an integration with an A/P payment solution, a payroll provider, and an expense management solution.

The Bill.com integration was why we originally looked at Intacct as a financial accounting system - we wanted to be able to approve invoices remotely with many non-accounting approvers. That integration went fantastically and it was able to pay for itself in less than a year.

We are in the implementation stages of SalesForce (to connect equine information with financial information) and Nexonia (purchase card transactions). I have high hopes for both those implementations as well.

In one case, we used middleware and a third party to help us configure. In another case, vendor did it in 15 minutes. And one integration we did in-house fairly easily, thanks to robust API.

The actual integration has been reasonably easy compared to the initial Intacct implementation. The key delay for us has been undertaking a full post-implementation review of Intacct, which included reorganizing our global management structure to set up sub-departments and a restructuring of our project coding to map to the new departmental structure. This allowed us to assign budgetary and management responsibility to the owners of the various sub-departments using Adaptive Insights.

We simply got file specifications from Intacct, sent them to UltiPro and had the integration file developed. We do have to export from UltiPro and then upload to Intacct, but it is much better than a manual data entry.

This is very easy compared to more complicated integrations. Intacct can even spit out templates in the right format, which can be filled out and imported back in. It will send error reports to help your track down the cause of failed imports.
