Customer Support Needs Improvement and Lacks Transparency

Pros

  • They used to provide dynamic customer support.

Cons

  • Was online for 4 hours with customer service on 9/3/21. They told me several lies about what they would do to resolve my payroll issue, which was actually their issue, not ours.
  • As a result our employees are getting paid late.

Return on Investment

  • As of right now. None because we are not able to pay our employees on time.

Intuit Payroll is great!

Pros

  • Setup for both the business and employees was VERY easy.
  • Tax Liabilities & Form Preparation.
  • Ease of use in the ability to guide my clients through using all its features.

Return on Investment

  • The ease of use is a huge positive, as I have been able to walk the owners through running payroll if they need to.
  • Taxes are always accounted, listed and sent for us, with reminders to file forms.

Hassle-free and integrated payroll comes at a cost.

Pros

  • Scheduled or manual payments to employees works well
  • Direct deposits or cheque options is helpful
  • Tax document management was surprisingly low in pain
  • Customer support for payroll went above and beyond

Cons

  • Intuit products across the board are unfairly priced for small businesses.
  • 2020 special conditions were confusing and slow to roll out due to pandemic legislation.

Return on Investment

  • Payroll freed up an incredible amount of time for my employees and business managers

Alternatives Considered

Gusto, QuickBooks Time (formerly TSheets), Harvest, QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise

Intuit Payroll use to be amazing not these past 2 years

Pros

  • Easy to use and works most of the time, but when you need customer service. Their CSR's go ghost or cannot help you

Cons

  • Accountable Customer Service Reps
  • CSR with authority to do anything
  • Better Systems without glitches

Return on Investment

  • If there is a problem with Payroll filings that they make you are on your own. It takes hours and hours with the IRS to fix what they screw up

Usability

Going down hill fast!

Cons

  • Intuit Payroll keeps taking (once provided or included) services away from their customers. Intuit Payroll no longer offer "one click".
  • Intuit Payroll doesn't allow you to add check numbers and make changes to employee information in the same browser.
  • Intuit customer services always askes the same first question when dealing with a customer "What browser are you using?" This should not matter as apparently I cannot do everything I need to in one specific browser anyway.
  • Intuit Payroll has 4 favorite statements: I understand. I'm sorry. We are working on that. Let me give you a "work-around".
  • Intuit Payroll has now provided a new service - since it won't allow you to enter check numbers in the same browser that you can export in, the system guesses (POORLY) about what check number it should be when importing to the QB Desktop program.
  • There is a "work-around" for exporting your payroll, which, after 1 1/2 years, it turns out that this really wasn't a "work-around" at all, but rather the new work that paying clients now had to do because IOP refuses to update their system. NOW, there is a "work-around" for logging into IOP.
  • Where you could once look online and easily find the telephone number for the IOP Corporate Office, it is now very well hidden and difficult to find.
  • IOP used to send transcripts of calls and chats. They no longer do this.
  • IOP used to send a survey after each call or chat. They no longer do this.
  • Intuit Payroll continues to charge their customers the same or more for less and less services.
  • Intuit Payroll continually lies to their customers.
  • Intuit Payroll keeps finding ways to make their customers do what was once their job.

Return on Investment

  • IOP has made me lose time and money over and over again and they charge me for it. IOP makes me work for them free of charge.
  • IOP doesn't give their costumer service representatives any authority to actually assist customers with their needs.
  • IOP makes it difficult to contact anyone but the sales department.
