We use IronClad in our organization for every legal document, contract or agreement we sign with our partners. IronClad allows us to create workflows for each agreement where we keep track of all the comments and requests made by all the stakeholders or cross functional teams that are required to approve the legal language included in the document.
  • Keep track of legal documents versions
  • Approve legal workflows
  • Forward email threads to the legal workflow
  • The title given to each workflow is assigned automatically and this can be confusing
  • The user interface could be improved to better differentiate internal and external workflows
  • The workflow email could be more easily accessible, e.g. provide a copy workflow email button
IronClad works great for organizations that have to deal with a lot of legal agreements at the same time, it works great for having a legal team reviewing and modifying the same legal document in a single place, and the comments in the workflow, and the approval functionality allows keeping track of the changes and assign accountability.

  • Faster turnaround for legal agreements
  • Accountability on legal collaborators
  • Faster approval process
IronClad is a comprehensive platform that allows legal teams, cross functional teams and approvers to keep track of the suggestions and changes made to legal agreements. It keeps everything in a single place, however it lacks the simplicity and practicality of DocuSign throughout the signing process, so we usually have to use both platforms to complete a legal workforce.
DocuSign, BetterWorks, Workhuman (formerly Globoforce)
The platform works great, the user interface is simple and clean, and very intuitive to use. Having different sections for completed or in progress workflows is really helpful, but I wish the title given to the different workflows could be easily modified in order to better identify the legal documents and workflows that are being developed with our different partners.
I haven't used the support services for IronClad, but I understand from our legal team, the support is very good, they have replied and provide solutions quickly and effectively. I have used the documentation and support pages which are very complete and which have been updated given the user interface updates.

The scope was digitalizing contracting processes from initiation through review, approval, execution, and renewal/expiry to streamline the contracting processes, eliminate the inefficiency of email-based communication and visualize all contract process status. Users can optimize the contracting process and also can limit an organization’s exposure to risk by reducing missed obligations and increasing compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Very flexible workflow design tool.
  • Functions are fine-tuned but not too much.
  • Easily understandable product which user can handle.
  • Contract link feature in the case of amendment/addendum.
  • Auto document retention feature (expiration and deletion).
Ironclad is very customizable and easily understandable. Therefore you will be able to find a way to digitalize most of your contract process. Since the collaboration function is also well-designed, you can collaborate with other teams easily in Ironclad. On the other hand, a contract link(related contract) feature is still not enough. If your business runs with many amendments, Ironclad may not fit. I believe this issue will be taken care of in a timely manner since Ironclad keeps updating its product.

  • Increased employee efficiency.
  • Easily supervised contract application status.
  • Easily managed active/inactive contracts.
Ironclad is a well-designed product, especially for a very configurable workflow designer and team collaboration feature. In addition, DocuSign has a critical issue, which is a multi-instance account issue. If you have multiple contracts with DocuSign including design and CLM and you use the same email address and password, you cannot tell which instance you log on to. Therefore, if we use the instance separately, we have to use a different password for the same email address. It's very confusing.
Ironclad is a well-designed and easily understandable tool. So, users can easily get an idea of how they should use the tool and they can use Ironclad. Especially for the collaboration feature, you can use it like MS team or slack. The most reason why I put this review is users can use Ironclad without any hassle.
The Ironclad support team is very knowledgable and supportive to implement workflows, and also they also understand new features and releases. We could discuss how we should use considering future use.

My entire company uses Ironclad, specifically at the request of our legal department. We use Ironclad and the various workflows that we've created, to generate NDAs, contract review process, insurance requests, new product reviews, etc. Ironclad allows us to monitor the volume of work that flows into the legal department as well as providing a repository of documents.
  • Ironclad is extremely easy to use, without providing much specific direction to new users.
  • It's wonderful to be able to capture the progress of contracts and requests as well as the notes regarding the status.
  • It's easy to tag another colleague into a workflow for their input and approvals as necessary.
  • Once you add someone into a workflow there is no way to remove them. It would be nice to be able to get out of a workflow or remove someone.
  • The "assignment" function could be more clear for those individuals who don't regularly use Ironclad. Perhaps prompting them on how to upload a signed agreement if they are not the owner of the workflow.
Specific scenarios that we use Ironclad for are: Request for NDAs, request for contract review, insurance request such as Certificates of Insurance, proof of E&O and also for any general legal requests. These requests are then assigned to the appropriate person best suited to handle the request. The entire process from initiation to finalization happens in the Ironclad workflow.

  • Positive - Increased efficiency, as all work into the legal department flows into Ironclad. We can see where resources are being spent and which internal business partners are utilizing the legal department the most.
  • Positing - Better internal business partner service. We are able to communicate directly with our internal partners as to the status of their request and keep them apprised where we are in the negotiation process, etc.
Ironclad is the best tool I have used to date, to manage workflow and tickets. It was very easy to use and navigate from the very first time I used it. My time is very valuable and I don't have time to sit in training sessions, simply to use a new product. I'm happy to say that I was never formally trained on Ironclad as it simply wasn't necessary.
I have only had to use the support function one time and after calling the support team, they immediately made the fix on their side and we were back in business.
