At LeadMark, we specialize in financial publishing and lead generation. We do that through the power of email marketing, specifically via the publication of 7 "main" free newsletters. We mail tens of millions of emails each week, and there aren't many platforms that can handle the volume of emails we send, or the intricate ways we break down the data and share it with our database. Iterable has been able to provide everything that we need to handle our email marketing within a single framework, making it much easier for us to have seamless function and easier training and transition as teams grow and change.
  • It makes designing and deploying great looking emails easy with their drag-and-drop technology and framework.
  • Iterable allows for great customization and time-saving with the use of their handlebar snippets. This has revolutionized how we are able to monetize our editorial audiences using clear logic that helps us get the most for each of our conversion efforts.
  • The various ways that you can run and view reports is incredibly helpful, and easy to customize. This means we can find most of the data we want and need across our various departments with their differing goals without having to piecemeal together crazy solutions or waste time reinventing the wheel.
  • One of my biggest frustrations with Iterable is that, in their continual quest for improvement, they sometimes make rather large and highly impactful changes to the platform without giving users ample notice or details on how to navigate the changes.
  • The heatmaps are wildly inaccurate if you don't toggle to see raw data. This was something no one exactly tells you, and you have to figure it out for yourself. It can be vastly different than the reality. I'm hoping this is something that gets fixed ASAP.
  • Notifications are hard to work with. You can't scroll through them or navigate different pages, so it's feasible you could miss an important notification in accounts that are very active and sending out a lot of blasts and journeys.
While we sometimes laugh and joke and call Iterable "irritable", the truth is that it's the best system out there for large enterprise needs. We've tested out a slew of other solutions that make a lot of big promises, but fail to deliver. That is why 7 out of 7 of my directly-controlled newsletters operate out of the Iterable platform.

That said, it is the best of the best, and it isn't cheap. Smaller organizations that have small lists or haven't yet mastered monetizing their lists would have a hard time absorbing these costs and staying in the black. It's amazing, but you kind of have to "grow into it."

  • Makes managing our remote editorial and marketing teams much easier.
  • Makes it easy to compare and contrast our reports in Iterable, our database, versus what our clients are seeing on their end.
  • Improvements in dynamic content have allowed us to dramatically increase our weekly editorial revenue, and not just as a one-off occurrence, but a level of predictability that wasn't available to us before.
  • The support team allows us to get out ahead of potential system wide issues, as well as trouble-shooting specific obstacles our high-volume sending can create. Makes our lives a little easier.
I know that it's been powerful, and that Iterable makes it easier, but that's an aspect that's handled by a different department. So, while I've seen the results first-hand, I can't honestly speak to the use of those tools, but I can attest that they get us results - especially when it comes to SMS and push notifications.
Dynamic lists here can change your life. It gives you the power to be ultra granular if needed, or to cast a wide net that won't be full of waste. We use these features to segment our lists based on frequency of opens, clicks, which offers they've interacted with, how new they are, how long it's been since their last open, and so much more. We even use category ids in our links now to build niche lists that are topical so that we can pair new offers with hot, warmed up audiences. These all work together to help us drastically improve our RPMs across our various channels, while adding in some friendly competition that keeps all of our departments working at top performance. It's been a lot of fun. And you always find new ways you can kick things up a notch.
Prior to working inside of Iterable, I was a massive fan of Keap. However, within this organization, we've "outgrown" the solutions we have inside of Keap. To do what we do inside of Iterable would be impossible and cost-prohibitive within that platform. But I still love Keap and would recommend it to medium and smaller businesses that aren't in a position to afford or use Iterable yet.
We've definitely tested scalability, and it's no line - it works. The process is pretty easy. Most of the times it goes off without a hitch. Any time we do encounter issues, our support team is quick to get on the job and very communicative as they work us through a successful launch.
Iterable is there like 99.9% of the time. However, when it goes down, it grinds us to a halt. Most of the time, outages are an hour or less, but if that's at a peak time, it can be a nightmare. That said, when the worst does happen, there are frequent updates and an easy situation tracker that give you an estimate of how much longer you'll have to wait for the issue to be resolved.
There are certain times of the day (generally around 9am EST and 5pm EST) when things slow down, and I generally chalk that up to just the stress of mass usage. Some of the messaging insights can have issues loading if you're rapidly switching from one project in Iterable to another. But, again, those kinds of issues are to be expected. Nothing that frustrates me too much or gets us off track.

We use Iterable to communicate with thousands of our customers and leads. Iterable is built on using data to bridge the gap between the consumer and the brand. We're able to pull thousands of data from our system to create highly dynamic and segmented campaigns. We've built out complex journeys and campaigns to provide value and resources - from acquisition to renewal.
  • They built out a very easy-to-use system to create triggered campaigns based on behavior.
  • They have a professional and responsive customer service team
  • Their email builder is one of the best I have seen. It's also optimized for mobile.
  • Some of Iterable's user interface in Journey is a little confusing. This is a personal preference.
  • Their image uploading is very basic - but they are working on releasing a new version soon.
  • It's difficult to look up a specific contact by only being able to search their email. I wish I could search by name without having to use segmentation
I've used several different email platforms and Iterable is by far the best. Their platform was very easy to use and perfect for both someone who's new to email marketing and someone who's worked in emails for 20+ years. They created a great way to organize all templates through folders and labels. It's easy to navigate through insights and specific campaigns. Iterable's strong suit is how they use user attributes to create highly segmented, highly dynamic campaigns.

  • By creating highly specific and dynamic emails during, Iterable positively impacted our conversion rate.
  • Iterable positively impacted customer retention because we're now able to send multiple journeys through their lifecycle to create value.
  • Iterable positively impacted our flow of work. We've created many Journeys that we just leave and monitor weekly. We've steered away from blast campaigns and moved towards triggered journeys. This has allowed us to focus on dozens of different emails at a time.
  • Iterable's easy-to-use template builder has allowed us to scale our email marketing exponentially.
Iterable built their platform on automation and segmentation. Most of our campaigns are automated and segmented through Journey. Our company is subscription based and we have 5 different welcome series that are segmented based on the type of subscription they have. We segment through user attributed to automatically put the user in the specific journey. We also use automation to communicate with our users through triggers - ie. no login in X days, never downloaded app, saved $ in 6 months, etc.
Iterable has allowed us to effectively communicate with all our customers through data. With Iterable's API directly integrated in our system, we are able to connect thousands of data points to the user. With this data, we're able to create very highly targeted campaigns and journeys. Iterable has helped us to quickly bridge the gap between our company and user interaction.
The reason why I enjoy Iterable is that (1) they have an easy-to-use email builder, (2) their folder system makes finding campaigns more efficient, (3) their built on data which allows us to create highly dynamic and segmented campaigns, (4) they have a great journey builder that allows us to create advanced logic such as optimized send times, A/B splits, filter, etc. Iterable also has great customer support. When you work with them, they will set you up with a professional CSM that will help you through the on-boarding and any questions you have. They also have a live support team that's very knowledgeable and quick.

Iterable replaced HubSpot. HubSpot was very unorganized and out-dated. It was never set up for success.

  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
I would not change my evaluation and selection process.
Iterable by far has the best support of all industries. When you work with them, they set you up with an on-going CSM to help guide you to success. They also have a very professional and knowledgeable live support.
Support has helped me answer complex questions to make building my campaigns more effectively and efficiently.
Yes
I've reported several bugs and they we're quickly addressed.
There was a time where I created a template and I kept getting html errors, even though I built it through the template builder. The email looked completely find and I could not find any solution to fix this error. I reached out to their live support and they were able to quickly address the issue. The issue was that I copied my text from another document and it added the HTML coding in the back-end. In the future, I should have copied the text from textEdit or a similar program to remove all hidden HTML coding.

Instead of having to go to knowledge page (like other companies), live support actually went into my template to try to replicate the issue to make my issue was solved. All they needed with my template name and a screenshot of the error.
Iterable very easy to learn and use. It's a great platform for both a new email marketer and a marketer that's been working in email for 20+ years.

Iterable is currently being used by the majority of the business and we will be transitioning everything to run from Iterable. Iterable provides us workflows that we can configure to make sure that we send the correct message to the correct customer at the right time.
  • System and Workflow webhooks
  • Multi-language emails
  • 360 degree view of the customer in a single page
  • Ease of drilling down on event data
  • Segmentation
  • Workflow webhooks have limited customization and data options
  • Custom events are great for segmentation and workflow triggers, but unusable to personalize an email based on past custom events.
  • No rate limiting on webhooks. Easy to bring down a third party vendor if processing a list.
Iterable isn't great for handling ecommerce companies based on how you can utilize their custom events and no ability to track events for anonymous users. If you have an advanced email program that is data driven, Iterable probably isn't the best tool for you. They are an affordable vendor, but that comes at the cost of truly personalized 1:1 emails.

If you have a rather basic email program where you send emails in batch or trigger based, you should be able to get by.

  • Iterable has provided us with metrics that we didn't previously have. This enabled us to be able to build better tests and get a higher conversion rate.
Cordial is superior in terms of what you can do with your data to personalize an email. Extremely powerful platform. Cordial's drag and drop editor (Sculpt) is lightyears ahead of Iterable's open source drag and drop builder.

Cordial didn't have any Fintech companies yet and we didn't want to be the first. Iterable had many recognized names so we went with them.
We've never run into any issues with volume. Iterable is always able to handle everything we throw at it. We utilize webhooks and emails. Both perform very well. Webhooks actually perform too quickly and downstream systems need to be able to handle the volume throughput that Iterable can send.
Iterable is always available when we use it. I'm also subscribed to the status page and they rarely have any outages. When they do, they do a great job of providing frequent updates to customers.
The API is super quick. The UI can be a little sluggish depending on what you're loading, but overall Iterable performs great. Iterable appears to do a good job of making processes async so that one action isn't blocking another.
