Jama Connect, being a tool that is specifically designed for requirements management and design traceability, provides many benefits over a non-specialized productivity tool such as Microsoft 365. The revision history, collaboration functions, and tool features are much more applicable to the specific needs of requirements management and design traceability than the generic Microsoft 365 package.

Jama Connect is one of the best collaboration softwares on the market
We did use Procore for a bit but it has the same issue that Jama had, too big for a company our size. Procore has now made a smaller, stripped-down version for smaller companies, like us, that isn't as pricey but has enough for us to be able to take advantage of. We did not go back to Procore when they released this option. The collaboration on Jama [Connect] was superb when compared to Procore.

Jama Connect - By an MSP Engineer

I haven't used the other tools in some time, but I know I prefer Jama over Jira and MS Project. Again, this is skewed based on the fact that I haven't used the other 2 tools in years. Jama is used more by clients whom I work with so it seems to be more of a market leader than other products, but that could also be the case because of the businesses we work with.
It does not provide suitable templates to manage requirements though it can be a good tool for other scenarios, e.g. managing tasks in different phases.

A good experience so far using Jama Connect
Jama Connect has hands down big advantages over IBM Doors in terms of collaboration and ease of use.

Jama is the best!
Alternatives to Jama for us is Google Sheets. I have spent significant amount of time getting the team away from sheets as a source of truth. The added features of Jama has helped the team transition to Jama for the source of truth for requirements.

Good cloud-based requirement management and evolution solution, with room to improve processes
I am also familiar with ReqIF Studio, and the NoMagic DataHub for requirement management. Jama requires no installation, and the use of floating licenses is quite useful. As long as your workflow can be kept in Jama, everything works OK. However, interoperability is the weak link, and DOORS has better interoperability. ReqIF Studio's support of the ReqIF standard is another good point, but collaboration requires a merging workflow that is cumbersome.

Great at requirements management and traceability - Not so great connecting to other industry tools
We tried to do with Requirements management with Confluence and other Atlassian marketplace tools. The Jama traceability is still the overriding decider for staying with Jama. FYI, we paid for Jama/tasktop for several years without doing the integration - you would think that Jama would have pushed us to get this done or remove the charge.

Brilliant and Flexible Requirements Management Tool, Rigid and Limited for Other Uses
Jama does the requirements management piece better than anyone else, which is why we chose it. The cost was hard to swallow, given the limitations of the other areas of the product (test management, risk management). Products like Helix are better for testing, but are pretty clunky and fall down on requirements. Jama is object-oriented and database-driven, which is essential for effective management of requirements. Steer clear of "document-driven" solutions; despite the need for good documentation one is best off with an object-oriented tool that can also build quality documentation.

Jama Connect First Impression
None at this time. We use Rational DOORS for requirements management and test cases plus MS Excel for tracking/reporting status.
- Micro Focus ALM, JIRA Software and IBM Cloud PaaS (formerly IBM Bluemix - PaaS)
I have mostly worked with ALM and JIRA Software. they are good enough to gather the requirements but not much like Jama software. JIRA doesn't provide approval mechanism and ALM doesn't provide traceability and reuse or reviews functionalities so in all of them Jama is better to gather the requirements in SDLC framework. JIRA has too many plugins which add the extra functionalities to JIRA without vendor support. This is lacking in Jama and to only to get approval for requirements, we don't need to spend a lot of money on licenses.

Detailed and user-friendly
Jama is very organized and does not lag or lock others out of documents. It is very easy to use with a big team and allows for many users to reference the same requirements at a time without slowing down.
Share Point is a previous platform that is used by my Organization for requirements gathering from a client for Project.
Jama Connect is a far better platform for the requirements gathering that I can see. It has many features that are not available in Share Point platform, that makes employee work too easy to get clear cut information that one searching for and also helps in easier classification of information gathered from the client.
The tools I used in the past were not cloud-based. The tools did not have real-time tracking and were not as effective as Jama.

Jama Connect
In our company, we manually make reports using MS Word and Excel, which takes lots of time and doesn't present clear data. Excel updates also use to make files messy which resulted in missing requirements. Jama has made life easier and very effective as data is much clearer and helpful for us to work with.

JIRA is way more costly than Jama. Plus, Jama is more user friendly
