Jama Connect Review
Jama Connect is being used as a requirements, risks and test cases management tool in our company and has been very successful in doing so. It is also intended to generate test plans on the fly, execute them easily and generate corresponding test reports. This feature is yet to be utilized in the forthcoming software release, which would be the first release after the purchase of Jama Connect.

Jama for small companies
The main achievement has been to move away from server-based documentation with a repetitive and incomplete documentation in xls or PowerPoint. Each developer knows where to find the right information now and is able to understand the maturity of each item and its revision history, since the tool takes care of these aspects.
with using Jama Connect we got a new structure in our requirements. The cloudbased solution can be used by all our departments and they have one main solution for their needs. With it we could implement a company wide used structure with the needed versioning

Jama Connect - Excellent Tool for Regulated Products!!
For our company, it was imperative that we streamline all our processes and have a solution that is well controlled for audit purposes. Jama Connect has been able to satisfy these needs easily with its intuitive design which shortened the user learning curve. Furthermore, the configuration management of artifacts is built in from the start which is incredibly powerful for auditors of our products.

We expected to achieve and I believe have achieved: - Improved organization and content quality of requirements - Better requirement communication across organizations/departments that have difficult times to communicate. - Connect customer requirements/use cases to the technical derivation or decomposition - Provide a better home for verification and validation test cases with traceability to the sources - In general, a large improvement of a visual and detailed overview of traceability of requirements from regulatory requirements all the way down to risk items.

Great requirements management software.
We wanted to manage the entire requirements lifecycle in a proper database, as previously, requirements were published in PDF documents. We were able to achieve this successfully.

My Review
With Jama Connect, we are expecting to shift the paradigm from a document-centric to a data-centric organizational structure for design inputs to maintain a better focus on user and stakeholder needs. Although the features and functions of the tool are set up to support this goal, the desired outcome still requires critical thinking applied consistently and frequently. With add-on modules such as Risk Management and Jama Connect Advisor, the task is less daunting and we are making good progress.

Jama review
The main outcome that we're expecting as we embrace the use of Jama more fully, is an improvement in our Development processes. We want to be able to collate, review, and approve our Requirements more quickly and efficiently; we want to be able to develop 're-usable' material that we can apply across different development streams; we want to improve our confidence that we're 'covering' all our requirements appropriately. Jama is helping us to make progress in these areas.

We look to have a program to manage our requirements and risk documentation. Jama is a great place to create and review these items, however it would be nice if there was a document management feature as well. If we were able to generate and track requirements documents within the program itself, similar to how items are displayed in a review.
Faster project start-up time and quicker time to market submission. Yes, we have achieved these outcomes with Jama Connect, and helped support our business from the commercialized side.

Jama - the King of Kings
The organization is cognizant in the fact that engineering hours are used to generate requirement sets. Promoting the reuse of these requirements sets have direct impact on the manhours required for a particular job. Reusing requirements also benefits the overall quality of the program because similar peer-reviewed requirements and verifications are used between programs.

The Journey from Paper Documents to Jama Connect

We look for a well defined scope for a project before it is kicked off. This allows for reasonably accurate time and budget estimate. Forcing the development of a requirements spec that is signed off by both marketing and engineering prior to project commitment helps to eliminate "feature creep" and facilitate a controlled change-order environment.
Jama Connect has provided the organization with a tool to perform requirements management and traceability, which are elements that the organization expected the tool to provide. This has been a great benefit to project teams, but there are other elements of the tool that we have not been able to take advantage of such as risk management modules, test case management, or validation of the tool to be able to use content directly as a controlled record. The costs and overhead associated with implementing this functionality have made the organization unable to realize these benefits to date.

Jama Connect is one of the best collaboration softwares on the market
We did not achieve the outcome that we had hoped. The software was a little more cumbersome and the learning curve was steeper than we would have liked. Our average age employee in our office is 50. It was not easy to get this up and going. We didn't feel like our company size (+/- 50) was the ideal company size that they had in mind.

Streamline Reviews!
The main outcome we expect from Jama Connect is to streamline the approval process of our sales. Depending on the dollar value of some of our bookings, there needs to go through a certain number stage of approvals. By using Jama Connect, we were able to refine the process and have the level of approvals more streamlined.
