With Jamf Pro, users have successfully managed unmanaged macOS devices and migrated Intune managed macOS devices, making it effortless to maintain a secure and maintainable fleet of Apple devices.

One of the key use cases of Jamf Pro is its capability to manage productivity applications such as Office 365 suite apps, VPN, Google Chrome, NoMAD, and other business apps in real time. This has allowed users to enhance productivity by easily accessing intranet sites and utilizing essential tools without any hassle. Additionally, the software has enabled efficient management of admin rights process on macOS, providing organizations with the necessary control over user privileges.

Another notable use case of Jamf Pro is its role in managing a worldwide fleet of MacBook Pro laptops. By eliminating the need for manual configuration, Jamf Pro has saved valuable time and effort while providing a personalized touch to each Mac user. The Self-Service component of the software has been particularly helpful, allowing users to access software packages and scripts from anywhere in the world, 24/7.

Furthermore, Jamf Pro has proven effective in managing large numbers of devices, offering seamless deployment and consistent management regardless of their location. The software's in-depth reporting and management capabilities have provided organizations with accurate inventory management and ensured compliance with security and compliance requirements. It has also simplified onboarding processes by ensuring Macs are compliant to security standards and providing a default set of software for new users.

Overall, Jamf Pro has been highly valued by users for its intuitive and powerful management capabilities. It has proven useful across various industries such as education, healthcare, marketing/design, construction, and more. Users appreciate its cost-effectiveness in lifecycle management and its ability to save time and effort in device setup and deployment. Lack of Intuitiveness: Users believe that the UI of Jamf Pro is not intuitive unless they already know where to go. They feel that the wording of UI descriptions has caused confusion and that some elements in the admin console are confusing as well. Additionally, there is a perception among users that the user interface focuses more on looks than functionality. Limited Functionality: Users have mentioned several limitations in terms of functionality. They have stated that some previously working UI functionality is no longer working or has been removed. The lack of a Dark Theme and the inability to immediately jump to a script from a policy are disappointing for some users. They also feel that there should be easier ways to set up templates for policies and scripts, and that scripting and creating filters for searching are difficult. Overall, there is a consensus among users about these common cons regarding the user interface of Jamf Pro - it being confusing and difficult to navigate, lacking intuitiveness, and having limited functionality.

Apple device management. In a world where people want choice and devices that don't necessarily like to be managed, this product is the Cadillac and granddaddy as far as Apple MDM is concerned. While it does have its quirks (what product doesn't), Jamf's support is on key and will do what it can to help you - even if it's out of their purview.

Well suited for any organization that wants to manage apple products. It's extremely easy to integrate and has many connectors for existing enterprise infrastructure applications. Certificate management is a breeze. Not so suited for smaller businesses that only have 10-20 devices. Jamf has another product called JAMF Now that would suffice for those areas.
  • Application versioning reporting
  • Ability to update 1200 devices in 6 minutes
  • Able to give power back to other departments via the API
Jamf is apple first and apple only. The architecture of the application screams that refined polishedness you'd get from Apple. The other applications that I've had experience with are not near as polished - especially for the apple ecosystem. I'd recommend Jamf for the apple centric organization or at least apple heavy org.

Mobile Iron - because Cisco sunset it (basically). Jamf was the leading MDM for Apple products, so we decided it was the best choice.
  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
We now have a specific set of requirements that Jamf has offered and is now part of our requirements list since we leverage most of these things.
Migration from an existing MDM requires device wipe and reenroll for full supervision of the device. It's somewhat painful. User enrollment makes things easier, but you miss out on full management.

1. Stand up Jamf
2. Migrate subsets of devices
3. Sunset old MDM
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
  • Reenrollment of all devices
  • User understanding of why we did what we did
  • Communication
It has declined in the recent years. Used to have same day turn around on "standard" support calls. Now it takes longer unfortunately.
No. I never had to in the past (nor was it an option), so I don't feel the need to now. However, having access to internal product issues is what is making me lean towards premium support.
Yes
The bugs that I report are usually resolved within 3 cycles of Jamf Pro updates.
I was reached directly (via Slack) from a product owner to discuss the issue and they wanted to get "hands on" to see what it was. Great communication and rapport.
Some things are a bit convoluted now since changing to Jamf Pro 11, however, it's one of the most easiest platforms to work with in regards to Apple MDM

We use Jamf Pro to deploy and manage all of our Apple products. We are a 90% Apple shop so all of our End Users are on Apple products. Jamf allows users to deploy and manage the equipment with a click of the mouse.
  • Software distribution
  • Locking out computers for compliance
  • Helps with current inventory
  • Self Service and the integration with the Apple Apple store has it's issues.
  • Self Service banner does not scale.
  • A built in script editor would be nice.
If you manage Macs or iPads this is a necessary service and really is the only one that is this well built. It does not do Windows....lol
  • Auto Enroll of new equipment
  • Remote deployment of software
  • Lock out of machines if needed.
  • Allows for quicker deployment of equipment
  • Insures all of the base software is installed from day one.
  • Allows for encryption and stores the escrow keys.
I felt Jamf was a better choice. Partly because I had used it before but also they have JamfNation which is the best way to learn and troubleshoot issues you might be having.

Couldn't figure out why the system went down. Turned out a certificate had expired and the notice that it was going to expire went to spam and never saw it. They had us back up and running in minutes.
There is a bit of a learning curve. Once you get it, you get it though
  • Package building right from the web interface
  • Remote management/wipe
  • Dashboard reports for compliance.
  • some time putting scripts in.

Jamf Pro is being used for device management and app deployment in a K-12 (primarily) 1:1 environment of MacBook Airs at the high school level and iPads at all other grade levels.
  • MacOS and iOS management and deployment of devices and apps for students and teachers across all grade levels.
  • It allows for quick turn around time if a student breaks their device and needs a replacement during repair, getting students back up and running for classroom activities and assignments.
  • The ability to push scripts to MacOS devices provides tons of possibilities for customization and automation.
  • I would like broader AD support that allow scoping apps, configuration profiles, and policies to OUs inside AD and not just user groups.
Great for managing any Apple device
  • It has made deploying our Apple devices more streamlined and taken a lot of work off of our IT department allowing for a better zero-touch deployment model.
As far as managing Apple devices there is none better

JAMF is the way to go

It's used across the whole organization to get all Macs compliant to security and provide a default set of software. This way, onboarding of users is a breeze.
  • Manage configuration profiles
  • Run workflows and report the outcome
  • Can be used as an CMS very well
  • I would like to see script content withint the policy window. This way I won't have to move between different pages to see what it does.
Don't see a scenario where JAMF is not suited. It's just a matter of selecting the Pro or Now version to match the size of your organization.
  • ROI is great. As it saves you so much time once it's all set up. The whole onboarding is automated through JAMF and it's zero touch.
I see the community as Jamf Support. Until now, in my seven years using it. I've never contacted Jamf Support.

We use Jamf Pro to manage our nearly 10,000 Apple devices. Everything from macOS, iOS, iPad OS to AppleTVs. This program cuts down on the number of people needed to do mundane tasks by allowing us to automate common tasks.
  • Simplifies large Apple deployments
  • Support is amazing
  • Build some type of inventory system into it.
Jamf Pro is the best at what it does: managing large deployments. They offer solutions for small deployments as well. They continue to update the features and listen to customer feedback on what we want to see added.
  • Less technical staff needed
Jamf Pro is much more feature rich than the competition
The support you receive is outstanding. They respond quickly to issues.
