What is JAMS?
JAMS is an enterprise job scheduling and workload automation solution that manages IT processes – from simple batch processes and scripts, to cross-platform workflows that integrate jobs running on multiple servers and business applications. JAMS enables users to define, schedule, execute and monitor jobs from a single centralized console.
JAMS can automate jobs on any platform - Windows, Linux, UNIX, IBM i, zOS, and OpenVMS and includes native application integrations to run jobs specific to databases, BI tools, and ERP systems. Its automation features enable users to run jobs on any schedule, as well as trigger off the completion of other events. JAMS centrally monitors the status of all jobs, provides notifications of failure (or success), and maintains a detailed audit trail and log of every execution.
JAMS helps enterprises eliminate the slack, security risks, and lack of visibility associated with trying to automate critical business processes with a jumble of homegrown, single-platform scheduling tools and scripts. Once jobs are centrally managed in JAMS, JAMS will manage cross-platform workflows to drive results.

From the beginning to the end user
- It takes operators more step than with the old app to preform tasks
- Visually can't get the full picture of workflows
- Easier to install, patch, push agents, and upgrade than competitor
- JAMS has allowed the business to respond quicker when there are issues with jobs. For example, with our integration to PagerDuty, appropriate parties can receive a call on their phone when there is an issue with a job - whether it's failing or just running longer than expected.

- Using JAMS when working from home (initially COVID, and now permanent) gives me tremendous visibility into the running operations of our business without any loss in productivity for not being in the office.
- With JAMS I can more tightly schedule evening batch jobs by running one job after the successful completion of predecessor, as opposed to the CRON like guessing at safe start times.
- Central control on a monitored server in a datacenter for all job scheduling tasks has given us 99.9% uptime reliability, instead of herding cats on multiple machines.

A JAMS review: Unveiling Our New Job Batch Processor
- Implemented a new job batch processor that is compatible with Windows Server 2019 in 3 months, including rewriting the job submission code and PowerShell scripts.
- Cancellation of jobs and restarting service causes disruptions to our queued job which imposes a risk to losing other jobs. I would highly recommend the JAMS dev team to dive deeper into this flaw and see if any improvements can be made to the roadmap.
- Our revamped data processing procedures and personalised interactions with users have been key factors.

This Scheduler can surely help get you out of JAMS
- JAMS was not the most cost-effective solution to the original program we were implementing at my Agency; but we were able to expand on the services we do provide using it's power and flexibility to enhance other program areas.
- The cost-model from MVPSI has been great in allowing us to deploy a DEVELOPMENT, STAGING, then PRODUCTION scheduler integrating the platform into our SDLC.
