Pretty Good for certain use cases!

Rating: 7 out of 10

We utilize Sapling HR as a more user friendly and intuitive layer on top of ADP Workforce Now and as a partner in digital onboarding for new hires.
  • Time off management
  • On demand reporting
  • Onboarding workflow management
  • Offboarding workflow management
Cons
  • Deeper data management/review - dashboard experience could be better and deeper
  • Ability to drill into reports within the tool- right now it takes you out to a sheet to view
  • Org planning/org chart sharing
I think for specific use cases it makes a lot of sense- I would blindly recommend it to anyone- I think it serves a purposes- has areas of growth potential and does some things well. So I'd want to spend some time understanding the users needs before recommending. That said- for a team that is locked into ADP I think it serves a great purpose as ADP is very non-user friendly for the average employee. And for a team that needs some workflows more automated because they don't have people to manage process, it is really helpful.
  • Time off management
  • Workflow management
  • Reporting
  • Human data repository
  • More people want to interact with the tool so we're better able to manage some processes
  • Saves us a headcount on some of the things it can automate
  • We don't have the ability to provision every account with them even though they said they could (slack) so we still need to do some manual work on account provisioning
Very very similar- it is not worth switching from one to the other unless you want to have payroll in the same tool.

Everyone uses it. The admins all sit in Business Operations

  • Automation of employee lifecycle activities
  • Storing employee data
  • Dashboard for employee info
  • To create workflows to support changes in the org
  • To automate the onboarding experience for employees
  • To track fun facts and data about our team
  • Give managers more control on employee changes
It is hard to rip out and replace systems and Sapling is doing what we need.

We wanted something that had the features we were looking for to drive reporting and automation.
I would likely look at a few more vendors. We only looked at Sapling and it seemed to do what we needed. I know there are a lot of products on the market though and I may go deeper on others in the future.
  • Implemented in-house
Yes
I believe so- thought I didn't run it- someone on the team did.
Change management was minimal
  • just time to get it done
  • planning to roll it out to the team
If you have someone internally that can run it that definitely helps!
I got what I needed from some chatting recently - but I know others on the team have had trouble getting support quickly.
no- we have a team capable to that.
I think our sales person was exceptional. she went above and beyond in getting to know our use case and providing us with thoughtful and honest responses to help support us seeing that the tool could provide what we needed.
There are some features and aspects of the tool that don't quite make sense. Like- when you update someone's comp- you have all these additional fields that if you leave the data in there it appears as if you're trying to update that too- but really it is the same- I wish you could just mark no change so the data stuck.
  • reporting
  • requesting time off
  • viewing employee profiles
  • workflow requests
  • giving developer access/api

Sign and hold documents.
Whole organization.
Paper files, online organization, collective place for HR documents for company across the US.
Does allow for quick review and frequent alerts to keep all parties accountable. This means HR representatives don't have to alert new candidates as often as before. They can screen shot exactly what is missing for the candidate to review and update.
  • Organized documents.
  • Ability to DocuSign.
  • Email intra and inter.
Cons
  • Less email reminders to incomplete work.
  • Clicks must be specific to file, can't highlight and open file.
  • Too many add-ons in the system.
  • Have to upload and transfer too many documents.
Less appropriate for small business/one location. Seems to make things more complicated by having to upload paperwork in different areas.
Specific scenarios: different locations, many employees, easy availability to organize employees.
Multiple people can access uploaded information which is helpful to follow the onboarding process. However, it doesn't allow for complete access all of files to be completed by HR.

The platform is quick and easy on all sides. This works well for the employee and payroll team. It is nice to be able to access all the previous clock in and clock out quickly. A person can export a collection of specific dates to review. The system can be used from different outlets.
To use this system you need to buy several add-ons. If add-ons do not fit your business model you will have to access platforms from different companies. The system is not easy to use for onboarding. Candidates cannot change and update settings. To use the system a person must click in the correct spots. If not it leads you someplace else. Then you have to start clicking all over again.
The representatives at Sapling are quick to respond to the human resource team and new onboarding candidates. There is a list of FAQs easily accessed. A person can send a response through instant message and it connects to email so information is easily tracked and researched. The Sapling staff is patient and kind. This always helps when dealing with technical issues that may arise.
