We use Kaseya VSA to manage workstation/server endpoint software, updates, reboot cycles, and use it for remote connectivity - interactive desktop/files. We've also found great value is VSA's ability to update/manage/deploy applications very quickly and seamlessly using pre-defined application lists. However, one of the best features is the ability to execute remote commands - powershell or Windows CMD, quietly, remotely. This is a very powerful feature to use, especially when troubleshooting.
  • Remote client connections
  • Provide a single pane of glass for all systems' update statuses, rollouts, and approvals
  • Remote command line options
  • The interface can be a little sluggish at times
  • There is no option that I've seen to connect to an IdP
  • We've seen occasional double entries of agents, there doesn't appear to be any mechanism to prevent this.
Kaseya VSA has allowed us to manage all of our workstations anywhere they are, regardless of connection. Support has been able to pivot from on-prem to remote without missing a beat during the pandemic. The ability to reach remote users' systems via desktop sharing, file explorer & remote command lines using powershell have been instrumental for our team to be able to react to clients' needs when they need it most.
  • Remote connectivity
  • Patching of the OS and the ability to control reboot cycles
  • Patching of third part applications
  • Remote command line access using CMD or PShell
  • We haven't measured the ROI directly, however, the reduction of time to complete support issues has been noticeable
  • Atera and NinjaOne (formerly NinjaRMM)
While Atera and NinjaRMM are both solid products, they seemed to be more oriented to MSPs which we aren't. There were more features associated with costs per user/system, etc. that we would never utilize.

We have predominately used Kaseya to serve the purpose of mass software deployment, patching, and retrieving information on workstations and endpoints. We have used this across the spectrum company-wide for all of our locations and devices. It has allowed us much more flexibility and efficiency in our interactions with our endpoints and users.
  • Allow for mass deployment of software
  • Allow for easier third party software patching
  • Remote sessions onto client machines
  • Gathering an aggregate of computer information from endpoints
  • Security, or lack thereof from cyber attacks
  • Many features should come standard but require purchasing add-on modules
  • Better network monitoring tools built into base platform
In a business where you are deploying software to many endpoints this would be a good solution to have. Also if you are in the market for a platform that does allow for growth and additional tools that may be beneficial through purchasing modules. Granular control of endpoints and data from those endpoints is easy to gather through this platform. I do not think this solution is optimal for a smaller business.
  • Ability to deliver patches and control third party applications
  • Ability to have single pane management for technicians
  • Ability to push out mass software deployments
  • It has increased the efficiency of operational tasks for our technicians
  • It has change the speed at which we are able to deploy updates and software patches
  • It caused us to spend additional money on more security tools due to concern from breaches
We looked at several options besides Kaseya in the beginning of our research process. We preferred the layout, support, and overall feature rich platform of Kaseya to some of their competitors. We also liked the ability to grow with Kaseya as needed and the ability to add modules for additional functionality in the future should be see the need.

We use Kaseya VSA as our jack-of-all-trades RMM platform for all of our clients. Kaseya VSA makes it very easy to manage multiple workstations and servers all within a single-pane of glass. Kaseya VSA helps us save a lot of time that would be otherwise wasted by helping our techs automate repetitive tasks.
  • Remote monitoring for multiple conditions
  • Very easy to connect to users remotely to help troubleshoot
  • Kaseya VSA lets our technicians access the command prompt from the VSA so we can run commands without bothering the logged in user
  • Reports are complicated and hard to build
  • Support takes a while to respond
  • The user interface is very outdated and could use a dark mode
If you are managing more than 50 workstations and servers, Kaseya VSA can help lighten the load and save a lot of time. Time is money and Kaseya helps save by giving technicians almost instant access to the users to troubleshoot. Our technicians are also able to automate patching and antivirus tasks all from within the Kaseya VSA.
  • The ability to run scripts and tasks from the VSA without disturbing the logged in user
  • Quickly connect to a remote session to troubleshoot with users
  • Built-in antivirus that is manged via the VSA
  • Kaseya helps business save money by saving time for the technicians. Automating tasks and scripts via the VSA saves time.
  • The ability to have the antivirus built-in to the VSA aloows us to save more time quickly deploying, scanning, and remediating threats.

We are an MSP (Managed Services Provider) and as an MSP, we have a need to mange multiple clients remotely. Kaseya VSA allows us to monitor workstations and servers and gives us quick access to remote sessions to troubleshoot. Kaseya VSA also helps us automate things like patching, and antivirus scans and updates.
  • Workstation and server monitoring
  • Workstation and server patching and updating
  • Antivirus updating, scanning, remediation
  • Easy to create and run procedures on multiple systems simultaneously
  • The UI is very dated
  • Support is tough to get a hold of quickly
  • Support for more antivirus vendors within the VSA would be nice
  • Agents fail frequently which creates false-positive offline alerts
Kaseya VSA is very well suited for an MSPs needs. It helps to remotely manage multiple customers and makes it very easy to segregate clients into groups. The remote connections to workstation and server consoles is very quick, with very little lag. If you have a need to manage multiple customers or multiple systems at single customer, Kaseya VSA has everything you need.
  • Remote connection to and monitoring of workstations and servers
  • Automated patching and reboots post patching
  • Automated antivirus updates and threat remediation
  • Thorough reporting
  • Kaseya VSA is a bit on the pricey side, but will save you countless man-hours in the log run. It is very helpful to be able to quickly connect to a system to troubleshoot.
  • The ability to manage your RMM and Antivirus within a single-pane of glass saves a lot of time that could be better user by technicians.
  • The ability to monitor for predictive hard disk failures, hard drives low on space, and and a slew of other things will save money over time.

We are an MSP and use Kaseya VSA to monitor and manage our entire client base. It provides our techs with an integrated set of tools for anti-virus and anti-malware, a range of backup applications, patch management, and the creation and implementation of policies. We are able to automate many of the typical tasks performed by a technician and support a larger customer base effectively.
  • Automation of common tasks through procedures that can be scheduled or triggered
  • Remote control of systems in a secure manner
  • Integration with a number of applications that add functionality to the base product
  • Works well in co-managed IT environments
  • Requires an investment of time to learn to use many of the product's features
  • No way to hide or remove modules that are not used by our organization
  • Over time, the application can become bloated with older, out of date, values, procedures, and settings. These require some time and effort to clean out.
Kaseya VSA is very well suited for remote monitoring and management, particularly when multiple organizations are involved. Once mastered, the agent procedures produce a high degree of automation that can free up a technician's time. Kaseya VSA provides something very close to a single pane of glass experience.

Kaseya VSA can be expensive for smaller IT support groups and has a learning curve that may take time to master effectively. I would not recommend this for very small managed service providers or internal IT support groups.
  • Automated monitoring and alerts of our customer end points
  • Remote control of client desktops
  • Automation of recurring tasks, such as backups and patch management
  • Kaseya VSA's automation has allowed more client support with fewer technicians, resulting in a cost saving for us.
  • The broad range of features differentiates us from much of our competition. We've won quite a few deals as a result of the services we can provide.
  • The learning curve for new hires limits their effectiveness until they master the application.
What's Up Gold is more of a monitoring application and very good at that, but doesn't have the management tools that VSA provides. It requires additional applications and you lose the "single pane of glass" concept.

ConnectWise, at the time we looked at the product, did not have nearly as robust of a set of automation tools. Kaseya VSA's integration with a number of popular applications seemed better developed.
