Way back when, I used Microsoft Money to manage my business and personal work. They changed things often, bank downloads stopped working, and it really wasn't well suited for business anyway. So when my laptop died, I gave up on it.
Quickbooks was next, but I was overwhelmed by the numerous options and complicated setup for something with features I'd never use. It was also quite expensive. It just didn't work for me.
I found Kashoo online (in a review forum like this) and it had great reviews, so I tried it, loved it, and haven't had to worry about bookkeeping since. It just works and doesn't require a huge learning curve or much of my time. Did I mention that I don't particularly like bookkeeping? ;)

  • Better Price, QuickBooks can get pricey
  • Equivalent Functionality
  • Better documentation (QuickBooks has lots of outdated and confusing documentation online)
  • Fewer error messages are shown, you just do what you need to do without getting bugged by the software
  • No spam, QuickBooks always pushed to update to online service
  • No migration problems. When we changed our other company's hard drives to SSD we had a nightmare of problems with QuickBooks not recognizing the license # and no clear support that would help. Kashoo is all done online, no such problems occur.

Kashoo works well and has all the features I need. Wave does not allow for reconciliation and does not do reporting. QuickBooks Online is very expensive and does not have all the features that Kashoo has.
