TargetX is being used by all of our recruitment and admissions departments across campus. This means all of our graduate, adult, and traditional undergraduate programs all use TargetX for recruitment of new students and marketing to potential students. We currently use it to send email marketing to prospective students in all of our programs. We also use it as our sole CRM and very much enjoy the integration with Salesforce that it provides.
- When sending large volumes of email the campaigns can be slow to send
- The events functions are not as robust as some of the competition
- Their telemarketing component has not been updated in a while and leaves a bit for current call centers.

TargetX is very well suited for smaller colleges who do not have all of the resources to manage a pure Salesforce environment for their CRM. They provide great support and direction for different business use cases. They have a product that has been around longer than any other higher ed CRM solution out there in regards to Salesforce. It is likely less appropriate for a school that has a lot of resources and could handle using Salesforce and their HEDA approach to higher ed CRM solutions.

TargetX, now from Liaison (acquired October, 2020) is a CRM for higher education institutions. It's built on the Salesforce.com development platform, tailored for student recruitment and retention. It also includes instant messaging (UChat) and the ability to build communities for particular classes/groups of students (Schools App).
