The Linode interface is just vastly better, easier, more responsive. Pricing overall is similar, but Linode is better for short term testing.

I would probably recommend OVH for cheap, unlimited bandwidth servers. But for anything else, I'd go with Linode.

There are a lot of very good cloud operations. Linode, for us represents a good offering. It offers a simple way to control infrastructure, without being overly simplified. For us, it was a good median giving us the flexibility to explore, experiment and still build for scale. As an example, we never use the one-click app type solutions, since our needs are different. We put solutions together for our clients. But, we also have a vast bench strength of technical talent to source from. They do not need much re-learning, to simply use another set of Linux instances for whatever project. One aspect of cloud solution type approaches, is that an abstracted API for infrastructure while good, also has inherent disadvantages. It comes down to one-size fits all approach, in which some advantages can be lost and not factored in. I refuse to ask people with decades of experience, if they know "insert your favourite cloud certification here." For them, another cloud is just like driving another car. Take it for a spin, get the feel of it. Linode has a interesting set of levers at a competitive price point. Worth exploring.

AWS is more expensive and less predictable. I get the feeling AWS might scale better for huge sites but cannot say for certain. DigitalOcean Droplets seems to be on a par with Linode, and cost-wise they are very similar. I've tried using Thema few times but always come back to Linode, as their interface just seems a bit easier to me.

I did not try or look into any other providers. Because of a client I knew about Linode and got familiar with their services, dashboard and support. I got a good impression and it was a no-brainer to use Linode for my own VPS needs.

I moved to Linode for the pricing, but quality of service is pretty good. Heroku is great for novice programmers with no DevOps experience, but you pay an extra cost for it. DigitalOcean has much better docs and tutorials than Linode (BTW, these material apply for Linode as they are for same hosting technologies), but if you have some experience at the Linux field, you can install all of your dependencies and run for less cost.

Linode's price for performance is unmatched. The scalability and customizability of their offerings is likewise superlative. Uptime is great and they have servers in all of the places we need them. Security is on par with the rest. Their web interface is useful. Their knowledgebase is well maintained. Unlike AWS, there's no need to install any special command line tools to interoperate directly with the servers.

Linode stands tall for Ease of Use and Developer Friendliness. The plans and pricing slabs makes it tough to resist from competition. Also as we get what we are subscribed to, unlike providers like AWS stealing our CPU during high demands, we don’t face issues due to noisy neighbors. Apart from the above, manageability is good and better than other service providers. API also enables us to connect our account with billing system like WHMCS. This helps us to provide our client with direct access and control of their instances to our customers, and makes them happily use it. Backup options adds value to our business for customers requiring business continuity.

Linode ultimately has better value for money. Not as many features/services as AWS but they do cloud computing very well. Managed databases are something we’d like to see and it’s on Linode’s roadmap. AWS nickels and dimes you for everything. We’ve also considered UpCloud, which has better compute but poorer network, and Digital Ocean which is trying to be an AWS competitor but slow compute compared to Linode. Ultimately we keep using Linode because of the price, performance, and customer service.

We chose Linode on a recommendation from a friend and we could don't be happier. We were sitting on three options, one was we put hardware into a datacenter and leased space, Microsoft Azure, and Linode. Ultimately we settled on Linode, it came at a spectacular price point for what we got. It gave us reliability and a Linux distribution of our choosing, It was *not* Microsoft, and any company that supports or at least uses OpenSource will always get my money in my personal view - but best practice does require us to review all options - but ultimately I am pleased with our choice to go with Linode.

We built some applications on Google App Engine, and in comparison to Linode, you are more locked in and there is a steeper learning curve, as you have to adapt to Google's tools. In Linode, you can use whatever you are used to. With AWS, you are able to make whatever setup you want but the pricing is a complete mystery and the interface is very hard to learn and get used to. It is true that if you have a very complex setup and many people working, you might find it hard to get everything you need from Linode.

Amazon Web Services is vast and expansive, but far too expensive for what we need it to do. Azure is a more plug-in hosted solution, but again the price isn't worth it. I can use dokku to ape the functionality of heroku for far less than the latter charges. Digital Ocean's no-nonsense droplets turned my head for a bit, but I still like Linode's particular brand of flexibility. Combined with my existing investment with the Linode infrastructure, the droplets aren't a compelling reason by themselves for me to switch.

I've always use Linode because they had the best offering and flexibility for the lowest price. I've looked at others, but none gave me a good reason to switch. Linode offers everything I need and it keeps improving. So while others are out there, Linode seems to me the best solution.

  • Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
Linode distinguishes itself with a sleek and intuitive interface that sets it apart from other providers. Its Dashboard UI is notably superior, particularly for tasks like monitoring and managing Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and Domain Name Servers (DNS). With a user-friendly design, Linode's dashboard simplifies complex operations, offering an exceptional user experience.Furthermore, Linode's transparency extends to its billing system, where estimates are clearly presented without being tucked away behind multiple options or submenus. This straightforward approach enhances clarity and eliminates confusion, ensuring users have a clear understanding of their costs.Another key advantage of Linode is its extensive range of Linux distributions and a diverse array of options available in the Marketplace. This breadth of choice empowers users to select the most suitable configuration and software stack for their specific needs, enhancing flexibility and customization options. In summary, Linode's superior interface, transparent billing, and extensive options make it a standout choice for those seeking a reliable and user-friendly cloud computing solution.

Linode is cheaper, but also far less complicated. Cost calculation is straightforward, unlike Azure, so it is simple to create projections for how much a solution will cost to deploy. Even though I get free Azure credits through my partner agreement with Microsoft, I selected Linode because of its low cost, ease of use, high uptime, and built in perimeter security.

I've used a few other platforms, DigitalOcean is probably the closest, but Linode always had better backend tools aimed at geeks whereas DigitalOcean just focuses too much on blank whitespace on their control panel, while offering less functionality.

Performance was similar, with Linode being more consistent, and being more likely to exceed expectations. With the backend tools being better for me.

I use Vultr for a few services right now, in particular for redundancy where I want a non-Linode service. Linode is still my go-to.

Linode offers a fairly specialized subset of cloud services, which makes the dashboard interface a million times easier to use than both GCP and AWS. In addition, their VPS offerings give you a broader range of control with (thankfully) fewer options. This makes it easier to calculate budget and results in fewer surprises when your bill comes around.

We migrated away from EC2 and S3 and onto Linode's instances and block storage. The reliability and speed is comparable, but Linode's price is cheaper and their customer service is far faster and better. I also prefer Linode's dashboard - particularly their DNS management, which I find to be superior to Amazon's Route 53.

I first heard about Linode from ads in every episode of Marco Arment's podcasts Under the Radar and Accidental Tech Podcast. They also offered discount codes that amounted to extended free trials. Marco's endorsement, combined with the generous introductory free period and the ongoing low cost made it an easy choice. I switched from a single-site WordPress.com account to running my own servers, and I haven't looked back.

Setup and management of Linode services were just simpler than similar services from Rackspace or Amazon Web Services, both of which are cumbersome and confusing to the point of frustration.

In the past we have used Amazon’s AWS and Elastic Beanstalk with EC2 instances as a web hosting platform. We found Linode to be simpler and more straightforward to set up. Linode’s costs were also more predictable, making it easier to budget and resell to our clients.

Most of my knowledge of competing products is secondhand. Linode has never given me much reason to look elsewhere—they’ve been so competitive on price and performance. The main competitor has been on-premises or collocated servers, but those are obviously completely different product categories.
