What is LogicMonitor?

LM Envision is a SaaS-based unified observability platform that enables digital enterprises to adopt a cloud-ready operating model for meeting key business demands. LM Envision provides clarity across hybrid enterprise IT, brings diverse IT and development teams together to solve complex problems, and enables IT to innovate faster while improving operational efficiency to the critical IT services they deliver.

LM Envision aims to offer an alternative to the tool sprawl that exists in many organizations today. By leveraging a platform that enables collection, analysis, contextualization insights and exploration of observability data across traditional and modern environments, it helps IT teams to remove the blind spots that come from siloed monitoring tools. And it enables IT teams to rally around a platform that offers a “single source of truth” to quickly triage and resolve problems, leverage AIOps to spot performance trends, and shift their time and investment from operation tasks to work that drives innovation for the enterprise.

Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

LogicMonitor is a perfect mix of cloud-based automated updates but with control. Other SaaS tools we have and have used automatically update and ask for forgiveness when they break important functions. That's a huge deal to an MSP organization that can't do their job without our eyes on our customer's devices. LogicMonitor gives the ability to choose when to roll out new updates to collectors, when to update datasources, etc.

It's very easy to deploy and add devices to monitor, however the biggest time consuming factor is dialing in alert thresholds and constantly adjusting global values or individual devices based on lots of factors. A very annoying issue is when LogicMonitor updates datasources, it will overwrite any custom edits that were done to thresholds. So either you don't update or you have to redo all your previous work. Updating the data sources is a very cumbersome process that's lacking the most simple features like a search and sort. To claim there is no maintenance and configuration required is an understatement at the very least.

Our experience with implementing and maintaining Logic Monitor was nothing shy of exceptional. We were able to deploy it well ahead of our expectations. Just by using the auto-detect device feature, we were able to get it up to include stragglers in less than a week. Comparing this to something like Solarwinds was night and day difference.

Our roll-out was relatively smooth and was able to configure the tool without a lot of assistance from LM. Because you can customize so many things, it's taken some time to fine tune however that was expected. I was not involved in adoption of the previous tool so I cannot provide feedback on the comparison.

LogicMonitor implementation was very seamless, I mean it took less than 15 minutes to get a LM instance and deploying a collector. I have never seen such a small implementation efforts in any other in the market. LM has definitely done a great job in reducing the overall implementation timelines.

The deployment was very easy we were able to quickly get the cloud instance stood up and then deploy the sensors at each of our data centers in under an hour of work. With some of the others, we have installed, it took days to deploy and, in some cases, required special skillsets including DBA's to configure.

LogicMonitor implementation was very easy to complete. We did not require any professional resources for our initial configuration, setup, and deployment. I estimate it took less than 15 days to have the tool fully deployed and reporting on the desired systems. The agentless deployment makes it very easy to point the tool at servers. LogicMonitor is probably one of the easier solutions we have deployed in our environment.

The implementation and maintenance of LogicMonitor has been the easiest part of the whole partnership. We have found the implementation extremely easy and time efficient, with the project managers being well established and organised using Mavenlink.

I was not a part of the implementation team but what I can say that the configuration is much easier compared to other tools we have used previously. Thankfully we have provided with a training which actually eased this further. Maintaining the LogicMonitor is also easy but just because it's a new tool to us right now so we can't really commit on that one right now.

It was a little bit different than Nagios, with LogicMonitor, we can see more alerts, so at the beginning, it was difficult to try to solve all the alerts and check all the documentation, but then it went easier, and currently, we have solved the majority of the alerts and disabled the nonrelevant for us.
We have faced some issues with the collectors, sometimes, for no reason, some servers lose connectivity with the collector.

I actually did not implement LogicMonitor. One of our higher tiers implemented the migration in our infrastructure. I helped maintain it so far by addressing alerts that get generated and assisting with trimming these alerts. I used Auvik before, and I liked Auvik because I found it easier to use for what I do on a daily basis. LogicMonitor provides a lot more information but can be overwhelming and has a steep learning curve.

Easy to maintain as updates are automated with Logicmonitor via the SaaS model. By comparision, on-prem monitoring tools do need security updates to be patched, releases to be deployed and certificates to track.

Maintaining LogicMonitor is relatively easy, linked to our Server MACD process and change management. Decommissioning, installation and changes are processed through Changes. Userr admin is done directly through 2 administrators that maintain the application internally.

Very easy to make mistakes as an MSP with multiple customers in terms of keeping modules up to date, having a great folder structure to start with is the key. As LM is a hierarchy designed platform you want options where to apply thresholds etc. <br>Updating most things is just a simple click of a button and LogicMonitor do the rest.

LogicMonitors deployment and versatility is profound in comparison to other tools. Their leverage of cloud architecture has simplified many local admin tasks and device/customer integration into our environment.
