(1-25 of 29)An eCommerce beast to tame
- Modularity helps development
- Developers with knowledge of the platform are required to work on it
- Better if used headless with a custom frontend (has lots of APIs)
Magento is a good foundation for your e-commerce platform!
- Magento allowed us to get off the ground quickly with an MVC for e-commerce and gave us the freedom to work on ROI via third party applications and services
Review of Magento by Agency Owner
- It had an overall good impact on the store and the owner is happy.
- There are no issues with the store and it is working fine.
- The only part is that we need to maintain it regularly.
Going Big? Go Magento!
- We haven't went live with the store yet.
If speed is at your core, try Magento Open Source!
- Magento can be built for speed and in e-commerce that makes all the difference. Speed is money!
- Having plenty of developers is also important and Magento has good support which is very useful.
- More efficiency
- But came at a significant time-cost
- We didn't have to spend a lot on premium/paid products where most features go unused
- We built the system based on our needs and are able to modify it on the fly.
- A lot of engineering hours have been put to make it work for us.
- no upfront licensing costs
- most of the framework was in place
- skilled developers are hard to find (but that counts for every tecnology)
Great open source ecommerce platform
- The cost to customize theme was rather steep, but that was due to our requirements.
- Custom functionality can mostly be accomplished with addons which are available and supported
Too expensive and too cumbersome to use.
- Too expensive to maintain
- Too many customizations for a presentable website
Magento Open Source Vs Other Website Management Tools
- We are currently using the coupon discount feature in Magento Open Source to provide free shipping on certain products. This discount has worked very well. We have had a massive influx of online orders placed for these products.
- The coupon discount features in Magento Open Source are not as advanced as they are on platforms like BigCommerce. On BigCommerce, I could put a start and end time and date. On Magento Open Source, it does not let you set the time. Many ads do focus on a date and time, so this is negative on Magento Open Source because it could confuse customers.
Use Magento Open Source If You Are A Medium-Sized Business Who Wants A Simple And Affordable Website
- Magneto improves our client's ROI by streamlining online orders and payments.
- Bulk catalog changes via .csv files enhance productivity and management time.
- Magento's compatibility with QuickBooks improves ROI by improving efficiency.
Magento Matured.
- ROI -- that's a tough one. It's a pricey platform to launch on. Coming from the BigCommerce platform, which is relatively cheap, and where most of the design was handled in-house, the M2 platform is quite a bit more expensive as we outsourced most of the dev and the ongoing is much higher. I'd say at these early stages, we're well in the negatives with ROI.
- Now on the positive side -- I see the potential of the platform. Once we get the marketing down, and the traffic levels raised, I see the ROI leveling out very quickly. This is a platform meant for growth, so as growth is pushed, we'll be ready to scale and handle it effectively.
- All in all, I'd project that we'd be in the green on the ROI within 3 years (start of project through new site launch through year 3) with nothing but future growth in front of us as we learn and continue to develop the site over time.
Magento is a Heavy Hitter; Make Sure You Can Carry It
- As a framework, it allows more efficient implementation of many features (depending on the feature and what you compare it to)
- The options for customization open up many possibilities
Is Magento the Best eCommerce Platform? Opace Say Yes
- Better Total Cost of Ownership than bespoke e-commerce solutions due to being open source and the wide range of free/commercial extensions available to extend the platform.
- Often more extensive to set up and maintain than other open source alternatives, such as WooCommerce.
Magento Helps Us Achieve Our eCommerce Strategy
- Magento has definitely had a positive ROI on our business helping us gain market share acquiring thousands of new customers
Magento Open Source is ideal for large e-commerce shops
- Magento makes scaling for large e-commerce websites easy, saving time and money when its time to grow large shops.
- Magento has a strong core system which is easily extendable with an experienced developer.
- Magento has an excellent community behind it that makes finding answers easy.
Apparently Open Source means lower publishing standards. Be prepare to hire a software developer.
- Delays in development leads to missed timelines and opportunity loss.
- High cost of development and maintenance may currently outweigh the growth.
- Better handling of customer and order information makes for better customer service.
- Excellent API has been a boon for integration with our ERP
Magento - the developer's choice in e-commerce platforms
- Magento will definitely give you a good ROI if you are prepared to invest in a good site. Even B2B companies are more and more expected to provide online resources for their customers. Magento, being easily customized to work with any 3rd party system, allows you to provide these resources to help you keep and grow your customer base.
- A well-designed site will also increase your search rankings and draw more traffic to your site.
- Being easily incorporated with Google Analytics and Tag Manager, you can tweak your site to increase traffic and sales.
Scalable but expensive to customize
- It definitely let us start with a decent store and scale from 0 to 15,000 products without many performance issues. But that comes with a cost: we were unable to change the design of the checkout, SEO was poor, and adding banners or more store-related things was very time consuming.
- Debugging is hard and you will break your head with some errors that break your store, and you don't know how to solve them. This was one of the reasons why we left it.
Our site would not exist without Magento Open Source
- I think it is safe to say that without Magento Open Source we would not have a business so Magento has had an incredibly positive impact on our business. We essentially manage our entire website with Magento Open Source.
- A "negative" impact is that some features were not available out of the box and we had to go to outside vendors or spend time developing custom solutions on our own. This obviously cost us money in the short term.
- While Magento Open Source is complicated to learn, once you do pretty much anyone in our department is able to jump in and perform any task that they need done. The learning curve is a little steep, but it is very accessible once you know how to use it.
The best platform for large-scale e-commerce but maybe not the best for hobbyist or startups.
- When it comes to e-commerce implementation, Magento is the more expensive. The cost for the developers is higher along with the cost of themes and the required extensions to make the platform do all the things that you need it to.
- While it does not have any direct bearing on the platform itself we have found the theme installation is always a headache. In all the years that we've been dealing with Magento, we have never done a theme install in under three hours.
- Magento does offer an extreme amount of customization far beyond any of its competitors. If there are special task or systems that need to be implemented for the client the Magento is definitely the way to go. Creating subscriptions or recurring orders is much simpler than WooCommerce. We have also found that shipping and payment integrations are also much more flexible and customizable using Magento.
Powerful ecommerce solution
- We have been able to succeed in e-commerce with Magento.
- We have been able to implement many custom features requested by customers through the flexibility of Magento.
Magento is a robust but complex e-commerce solution
- Too much time has been spent on development of the Magento implementation and maintenance that should have been spent on marketing and customer experience improvements.
Magento Community Edition Review
- Constant development required, expensive
- Extensions can cover 90% of requirements, but usually still need some customisation.
