We use it to market to warm leads and also to try and upsell high tier plans to our existing users. We also use it run targeted campaigns for leads from events and trade shows and partner organisations. It is also used to inform specific user groups about important changes and feature releases.
  • Great integrations
  • Easy to use templating features
  • It allows to do segmentation based on our needs
  • I would like to have more audiences
  • Phone support for standard plan
  • Allow to use our subdomain without buying from mail chimp
For generally good all round marketing campaigns which allows to target based on various segmentation rules and to run bespoke campaigns based on ever changing needs. It also is very useful to communicate with existing users to inform. Them of product changes and updates and potentially upgrade them and increase your ARR

  • Increased user awareness of product changes, which in turn has increased product usage
  • Increased ARR for existing customers because of upsell.
Mailchimp is similar offering but ability to send transactional email from Brevo/sendinblue is definitely a step up. We have been with mail chimp for quite some time and mostly the familiarity of our users with Mailchimp is the reason for us to still use it. We will be comparing other similar products to see if we can get something with better value.
We find that our users are familiar with the UI and flow of mailchimp. It allows us to be able to manage our marketing activity with ease and do what we want.
It has allowed to market to new and using users and also run bespoke campaigns. This has allowed us to increase our revenue. As we also use this to communicate with our customers, it has allowed us to increase user engagement. All in all, we think it has been an asset.
Most successful thing for us has been the ability to segment and target users and see what works and what doesn’t. It has taught us how to use segmentation to our advantage. Another key thing it has taught us is that you can get more revenue from existing users by just making sure that are across all the great features of higher tiers of the product.

We currently use Mailchimp to gather data through online forms and send bulk emails to announce events and other happenings within the organization. Mailchimp is a wonderful tool and a great value. The tracking and analytics are invaluable as we try to manage our user and donor base more effectively.
  • Easy to design emails
  • Easy to manage users
  • Easy to set up online forms to grow our email database
  • Navigation around the admin interface is a little bit tricky, but once you learn it, you can navigate fairly easily.
I have already recommended Mailchimp multiple times to clients and friends because of its ease of use and great feature set, especially considering the reasonable price. There are also some nice integrations to make things work seamlessly between other products and online services. Mailchimp has become my 'go-to' email marketing system.

  • Mailchimp has helped us promote events and fundraisers, providing signups and donations from more than 60% of attendees at an event or online fundraiser.
  • Mailchimp has given us the ability to more easily stay in contact with our volunteers and specific groups of people by messaging using segmentation.
  • Mailchimp is a great tool for testing the effectiveness of emails using A/B testing.
Mailchimp has a great feature set when compared to some of the other tools I've used, and it is a great value for the money. Even the free version of Mailchimp offers a good number of features to let you test it out to see if it is worthwhile to invest in.
Generally speaking, the administrative interface is easy to use and it is fairly intuitive, even if you have never been 'trained' on using the product. There are also some nice features like the responsive design for mobile and the ability to test what the email will look like on desktop and on mobile to make sure everything looks good.
We primarily use the email marketing piece of Mailchimp but have done some experimenting with landing pages and automation, which seem to work very well. We have some legacy products that we are continuing to use for other marketing needs but may eventually integrate them all into Mailchimp to simplify our marketing.
Most importantly, we have learned the importance of good content, a good subject line, and eye-catching graphics and headlines to make sure people open and read the emails. We also use recommended days and times to send our emails, hoping for the best open rates and click-through rates possible.
  • Segmentation
  • Sign-up forms
  • Email marketing
  • A/B testing
Because we have so many customers spanning different categories, the segmentation feature is important to deliver appropriate messaging to these individual customer groups. The ability to create segments 'on the fly' is very helpful. We use sign up forms to understand more about our potential customers and what things interest them and then use the email marketing features to message them directly with specific offers that appeal to them, based on the segment(s) they are in. The A/B testing is also a good way to test element placement in the messages to get the best return.
We have definitely benefited from the segmentation, as it allows us to focus specifically on items that we know potential customers are interested in and market to them in a more direct manner.
  • Segmentation
  • Email marketing
With our marketing goals, we look closely at two factors - ROI and resulting sales. We find that a combination of segmentation to direct messages to specific customers through email is incredibly effective in keeping ROI and sales at the highest levels. It also helps with retention since we are not sending information to people if they are not interested in the message.

At this point, we haven't integrated any systems with Mailchimp, but will be looking into that in the future.

Everyone using Mailchimp in our organization is in the marketing department.

Our marketing director supports it.
  • Keeping customers informed
  • Aiding in customer retention
  • Gaining new customers
  • Story Telling
  • Giveaways and contests
  • Integrate with a CRM and segment even more specifically with customized messaging based on actions.
Such a great product, especially for the price!
Yes
We replaced Constant Contact as the pricing and feature set was more attractive to us. We also used HubSpot briefly, but the investment versus return could not be justified. Nothing against either of these products, which are both excellent, but Mailchimp fit better with our needs.
  • Ease of Use
I feel that we evaluated everything fairly and probably would not change the process.

Absolutely! Lots of good online help as well.
For this type of product it is adequate. There are some opportunities to use APIs and built-integrations if needed, so it is fairly seamless.
Follow the instructions, watch the tutorial videos available on YouTube and figure out ahead of time what you really need so you don't waste time configuring things that you will never use.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
Some - we have added small pieces of custom code
It was straightforward.
Adding more fields to the interface to handle special situations with segmenting users.
No. We rarely need help.
No
We had a situation where the interface was giving us problems and it turned out that there was a glitch in the system with our data. The support people took care of it literally within minutes and we were back up and running.

Yes
It works well for basic changes, although using a computer to do the heavy lifting is recommended.
Although we have not scaled beyond our immediate needs, it is easy to see how to do it.

Performance is always fast.

I work for a small company and I am basically the marketing department. I consult with others as well, but I basically run the department. We use it to create email marketing campaigns that we run pretty frequently. I create campaigns about twice a week and then run all the metrics back for our company. I, then, upload all that data into Salesforce and inform our salespeople of who to contact and who [...] not [to] contact. We use it when we need to mass market to a bunch of different people or organizations.
  • Reporting
  • Extremely customizable
  • Extreme ROI
  • Customer service could be a bit better.
  • It could have a better customer tracker.
  • It could allow for increasing the number of sendable emails.
I would use it anytime you would need to send out mass email marketing campaigns to people. You can use A/B testing and segment out extremely well to get it very honed in for specific recipients. It has great tracking capability and will give you insight into where you might potentially be able [to] extract more value. I wouldn't use it for the most sophisticated email campaigns, but they definitely get the job done.

  • I have had an extremely positive investment.
  • Below a certain quantity, it's completely free.
  • Overall, I believe it is a great service.
We only ever looked at Mailchimp. We're an Atlanta-based company, and since they are from Atlanta, only around 3-4 miles from our office, we only looked at them. We started with a very small customer base, and they have allowed us to move up with them with our increased volume. I think it's [an] extremely valuable service that we will continue to use. I am not sure about their future, considering they were just bought by another company.
It is extremely useful and usable. It is a very user-friendly tool that is very helpful. You could learn the ins and outs of the tool in a very short period of time, and [it] doesn't require a bunch of training to understand how it works and how to best use it. I think a normal user will see an ROI in a very short period of time.
Both organizations I work for have yet to integrate it with anything. However, I have suggested we integrate it with Salesforce, our CRM, in order to have a 360-degree view of our customers. We can then create reports and dashboards that will track everything. We don't use it to sell products, really, but [...] to inform our clients/potential clients of what we are working on or are about to release.
We have a pretty strong open rate of around 20-25%, which, from our understanding, is very high for the legal services industry. I also use it for Argos, a company that provides construction materials for general contractors, [to] reach our clients and notify them of price increases or other systems we are working on. I've learned that it's a dynamic tool/environment and that you can always learn more about the tool and how to reach your clients.
  • Marketing CRM
It has helped us tremendously in staying connected with our clients and potential clients. We can send out bi-weekly communications to stay in contact with them, and our sales team can figure out our best way to communicate with them and how to sell to them. We don't frequently [make] sales through our campaigns, but it is very helpful in our ability to stay on their radar.
We use the Marketing CRM and segmentation features. We have the predictive demographics enabled, but that doesn't seem to help us out too much. We know how frequently our clients are purchasing from us and what are the typical kinds of customers that will buy from us. It has helped us a lot in our ability to segment out our customer base.
  • Segmentation
  • Marketing CRM

All of these features have helped us work towards our goals for marketing. We use Mailchimp more than any other marketing service, and that's because we see the most success while using them. Their dynamic content and ability to build quick email marketing campaigns [are] extremely intuitive and [have] helped us with our reach immensely.
  • We haven't linked any systems yet.
We haven't linked Mailchimp with any systems yet. We want to, but integrations always take a bit to achieve. We would love to have it integrated [into] Salesforce so the data will be updated instantly.
4
We have a pretty small team, [with] only nine people, and mainly [I] and the VP use Mailchimp to achieve our marketing goals. I generally build them entirely by myself now and then have the VP review them for any mistakes and make sure all the information and the links are working correctly. We then update the upload the information into Salesforce.
2
We have such a small team that it doesn't take a lot of us to make sure that Mailchimp is working correctly. You need an eye for aesthetics to make sure the email looks very clean. You need some technical skills to make sure the email is linked correctly and is flowing correctly, and then to make sure all the fields are being updated correctly in Salesforce.

We've had Mailchimp for about ten years, I want to say. I started with the company about four years ago, and I don't see us ever diverting to another source. It's easy for us to use, and we have all our clients already built into the database. I imagine we'll use them for as long as we have the company.

Mailchimp is used to send out communications to our donors and supporters, as well as our quarterly staff newsletters. It integrates wonderfully with two other software programs that we use for donor management - Kindful and Eventbrite. It helps us stay in communication with our subscribers on a regular basis.
  • Easy email design.
  • Integration with other apps.
  • Email analytics.
  • More dynamic email design features and templates.
  • The ability to change features of the email templates easier (without coding).
Mailchimp is perfect for a smaller organization with limited staff and resources available for dedicated marketing. It's been great with just 1-2 staff members managing all aspects of campaign execution. We can easily create a newsletter or campaign email and schedule social posts to be delivered at the same time. We can resend emails to individuals that didn't open the email, or for example, to those that haven't registered for an event we are promoting yet. There are a few features for e-commerce that we don't use as a nonprofit organization, but I can't think of any situation where it wouldn't be an appropriate solution to business needs, unless your CRM features a similar communication platform.

  • Grown our subscriber lists for emails and social media.
  • Increased donations, both regular and one-time gifts.
  • Allowed us to maintain a list of active and interested supporters. The emails that we get to send are exciting and inviting and our readers have high engagement rates.
  • Ability to send quarterly staff emails to keep us united as a team.
We decided to leave Constant Contact and switch to Mailchimp. Mailchimp offers a more dynamic email designer with the ability to be much more creative in how the email looks and feels. We're able to do this all right inside the online app or on the mobile app, instead of using third-party software or coding to customize emails to match our branding, etc. The user interface is also much easier and more user-friendly on Mailchimp.
The usability is great! Once I have the content I want to share, it's very simple to open up a template that I've already created to meet our unique branding requirements, or pull from one of the preset templates and customize it as I need. I can just copy and paste my content in as needed, and send emails to specific lists or subscribers as needed. Once you set up the automation, everything runs on its own! For example, whenever I add a new contact to our donor management database (Kindful), they are also automatically added to Mailchimp and our Welcome Email goes out automatically.
Mailchimp just added a survey and inbox feature which we are excited to get started with. This will eliminate the need for us to use Survey Monkey (even though there is an integration for that too). Since we sometimes send emails from the CEO, and sometimes from me, the inbox feature will allow readers to reply to whatever email they receive and have it go directly to Mailchimp. That way, I can answer on behalf of the CEO if possible. We also love the social media scheduling features, because it eliminates the extra steps that we would usually take in creating graphics and special links to campaigns or newsletters. What a time saver!!
We've had nothing but successes and compliments with our email marketing once we started using Mailchimp. In the past, the integration with Eventbrite was a little glitchy, but that's probably not entirely Mailchimp's fault. We also realized after the fact that the 'birthday' field in Kindful wasn't being brought over to Mailchimp in the integration (maybe that is fixed now?) so we had to upload those manually in order to send out automatic happy birthday emails (and invite people to give to our organization in honor of their birthday). The most important lesson in setting up Mailchimp is making sure that the data is as clean as possible.

They have definitely helped us reach our communication and marketing goals. We've been able to improve engagement, increase and diversify our supporter base, and in the long run, increase annual donations by at least $100k (only 1.5 years of data). Since we have such a small team dedicated to marketing, the automation and integrations are essential to our success.
  • Eventbrite
  • Social Media - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
  • Kindful - Donor Management System

Our data is transferred seamlessly across the relevant integrations. It took a few minutes to set up, and before setting it up we made sure that our data was clean and accurate to prevent any issues. For example, with Kindful, Mailchimp only pulls one email address even if two are included in the person's file. We had some records that were a husband and wife under one contact in Kindful because they always give together but have separate emails and like to engage and interact with us separately. We had to decide which contacts we wanted to separate accordingly before integrating with Mailchimp.

Email continues to become increasingly important. With the pandemic and WFH, surface mail has lost some effectiveness. You need a way to reach people where they are, especially when you don't know if they are in the office or at home. If you are in marketing, you fully understand how everything shifted in one day. I had a really unique mail campaign queued up. That went on hold and a year later hasn't returned. I am not sure if that one is ever coming back.
There are lots of email programs out there. I chose Mailchimp and I keep using it for the same reasons. First and foremost, the emails look great. Whether they are viewed on a big screen or a phone, they all format very well. That is the first big check box.
The second big check box is the ease of use. Mailchimp scores very well on ease of use. The templates are well constructed and there are more than enough templates to meet any need.
Last is customization. Again, Mailchimp scores exceptionally well making it very easy to customize any of the templates.
Well done, Mailchimp!
  • Ease of use.
  • Customization.
  • Price point - very budget friendly.
  • Advance scheduling.
  • Calendar look for scheduling.
  • Folders and view sorting could be better.
  • Doesn't have resend logic to automatically send the piece again to those who didn't open.
If you like to be ahead of the curve with planning and scheduling your emails, the advance scheduling feature is terrific. With the calendar view, you can see when everything hits the outbox. The option to send so it lands at the optimal time in the recipient's inbox is great. I market to 43 countries. Being able to time it to the inbox really matters.
The ability to tag and curate your lists is easy. Not matter how good your emails are if you don't have a good list, your content doesn't matter.

  • We had some eye-opening insights from the metrics.
  • A/B testing capabilities help, but it is work.
  • Cost keeps my budget happy.
I've used Constant Contact before. I prefer the Chimp. It is really fast and easy. I wear a lot of hats in the marketing department so the ability to get in and get out matters. I probably could have gone back to Constant Contact but, tried the Chimp and stuck with it. I think some of it now is habit. I can't imagine shifting away from it.
Mailchimp makes it easy to get it, get it done, and get out. In today's world, where every minute matters, the speed of process is a big part of the value proposition for software. Mailchimp scores very well here. I can get in, craft an email quickly, look at the calendar for that list, schedule it, and walk away. Done!

The ability to customize the templates is very good. All fast. Viewing screen size doesn't matter, the Chimp has it covered.
I haven't used the landing pages yet. I've considered it, but my current landing page solution seems to be working fine and so I am not inclined to move away from something that works. I will say, that given the user interface with the Chimp, my suspicions are that the landing pages are easy to set up and use.
The ability to see who in the audience is opening and who isn't has been very valuable. That knowledge has allowed me to change some of the processes and depending on the level of importance for the content, I will send out an email telling people to watch for the email. Because I don't do that often, when the really important announcement hits, I do get a better open rate.

List size matters. Quality of the list matters more. With the list tags, I can really curate my lists so they reflect exactly what I need them to reflect. On the back end of that is the reporting. Knowing who is opening and who isn't helps me figure out my next email steps. More importantly, it helps me figure out when I need to turn something over to sales to get their help in making things happen. Being able to arm them with data and facts is the key.

I use these two in conjunction and they play well together. This year I dropped my Salesforce license and adjusted. The Chimp is still well worth it without the integration.
