We are a small non-profit with a relatively small staff and a comparatively large number of videos. We were founded by Fred Rogers, who produced almost 1,000 episodes of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. We now have five programs in production. Media Valet has helped us every step of the way as we migrated from a less responsive DAM to their site. We lost virtually no metadata along the way. In addition, MediaValet converted almost 3,000 video clips to the exact audio compression, frame rate, and resolution that we requested. They have always been available to answer questions and meet with us weekly to address any needs or questions that arise. They have a good product and great customer service.
  • They are always seeking to improve their product.
  • They respond almost immediately to questions.
  • They have tailored and delivered specific training programs to address the different needs of our marketing and production departments.
  • Assets upload relatively quickly.
  • I have never experienced downtime when I access our DAM.
  • It's an intuitive experience. It's easy to discover the logic of how and why things work the way they do.
  • The staff welcomes interaction.
  • We look forward to being able to edit video clips directly on the MediaValet site.
We looked at many DAMs during our selection process. We all agreed that MediaValet stood way above the others in terms of our needs for a videocentric system. They are knowledgeable and great listeners. It's a great feeling to work with people who understand your needs and know they can get you where you want to be in terms of your many assets (almost 20,000 as of today).
  • A great product

  • Our staff is now starting to use our DAM.
  • Staff are considering monetizing some of our assets now that they see what we own.
  • We can find things again.
MediaValet has a much better search tool. The site map is visible immediately. Videos play and upload much more smoothly on MediaValet.

I am the Digital Asset Manager for our non-profit company with a staff of under 40.
  • sharing final as-produced episodes of our various series
  • creating video clips for social media
  • sharing licensing images with product vendors
  • older videos have had unexpected connections to area foundations
  • editing videos inside Media Valet
The product is the best we've seen. Others on staff who use our partner's DAMs have commented that our Media Valet DAM is far and away the best they've seen. I can't say enough about Media Valet's customer service. It has been consistently helpful, quick to respond and very reliable.
Yes
We entered the DAM world using a service called North Plains. A year later they were sold to a company called Aclate and then sold again. With a much better idea of what we wanted (and didn't want) in a DAM, we narrowed our search to three candidates. It soon became clear that Media Valet was head and shoulders above the others - most notably in its ability to work with video assets.
We are a video-centric organization. Media Valet's ability to handle these assets and provide the best video intelligence we've seen was the most important factor in our decision to choose them.
We would have chosen Media Valet ahead of North Plains. It would have saved a lot of time and got our staff onboard a year earlier.

They were readily available every step of the way.
Training was great and customer support has continued with the same dedication we experience when we first signed on.
Not sure there is an option for premium support. If there is we've thusfar never needed it. We get answers right away and have a standing meeting every two weeks. Support has been great across the board.
Yes
Yes. I believe the bug was my fault though.
When we signed on we told Media Valet that, for cost reasons, we would convert our more than 1,200 mov video files to high-quality mp4 files. On their own they volunteered to create a program that would convert all of these files for us. As a solo digital asset manager, that made my life considerably easier.
New staff is able to use our DAM with an hour of training.

For my organization, MediaValet is used as a content hub for managing and sharing digital assets across a variety of stakeholders/users. Some primary needs are managing asset terms of use and expirations, asset management integrations, managing the user access/groups, and content audits and usage reporting (for strategical or tactical purposes).
  • Categories
  • Metadata
  • Upload process
  • Asset Expiration Management Options — email notifications have limited information or collaboration options and the Drupal integration is missing critical metadata
  • Download options (via full-screen vs. basic-information vs. categories views) are not clearly visible as options to end-users
  • Self-service reporting options (too limited and oddly displayed results before export)
Depending on the use cases, some features are well designed for non-technical users and some features are not compatible with diverse (tech-savvy to non-technical) team collaborations. This is a good system for graduating from file share to Digital Asset Management but not a good tool for archival and preservation standards and related user management requirements.
  • Managing Terms of Use
  • Tracking usage
  • Categorization
  • Consistent adoption by superusers
  • Inconsistent usage or lack of adoption with existing/changing, technology-diverse teams (internal and external)
  • Management and tracking of detailed information (Categories, Status, Required Attributes, File Information, Keywords, History)
Apples and oranges
Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, Adobe PhotoShop, Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Final Cut Pro X, Salesforce Lightning Platform (formerly Salesforce App Cloud), Drupal
The team is very responsive to requests and makes a point to provide feedback or status updates before confirming solutions.
I don't believe so. Implementation occurred before my time with this organization.
I can't remember a specific time, but I have a very positive association with seeing Mariam Khan, Technical Support Specialist, respond to our support requests.
